Quoted from illawarra92:

the things you do.
gottlieb play pool, the italian aab version of pro pool.
major project. mechanically complete, missing most of the playfield. came with a 2nd, better condition playfield.
[quoted image][quoted image]

That’s quite the paint job. It looks like the previous owner was showing off their Italian heritage. I kind of like the circles. Is the cab the same way?

yes it is. at first though it was some type of adhesive paper but the entire cab has been painted like that.

So the better playfield appears to be from a "Pro Pool". I'm sure they are totally interchangeable though. It's amazing what "custom" paint schemes people dream up!

Atlantis came home 2 weeks ago. I did get a lock down bar for it. And I got my order if from Pinball Resource.
Time to get busy. The playfield is filthy but a spot clean shows it will clean up nicely.
.....
Somebody added a post to the left side drain. Maybe I will get bigger ring around the slingshot to block it off completely.

NEVER. It has been here longer than Surf Side but will soon be finding a new home so as not to upset the Bally reign.

Guilty.

Though I currently only have two that need hard work.

That left out lane is a drain monster. Not a bad solution actually! Though I would never modify my game by drilling a hole in the play field. Fun and challenging game.

Hey guys,

Been awhile since I've been on here because I've been so busy.

I've got a pinball friend of mine who's selling five games in his collection to make room for some newer games.

He's selling three now and two either before Thanksgiving or after Christmas (when I'm free).

Jack's Open ($1200) Plays good. All around good shape. One insert is wrong and will need to be sourced and replaced.

Volley ($1000) Plays good. All around good shape.

Buccaneer ($750) Plays good. Has some wear/graining on pf..

Selling later:

Strange World ($2200) (SOLD thru FB) plays fine but needs a shop job, good bg, some wear on pf, some fade in cab. paint..

Hit the Deck ($2900) Plays and nice.

These games are all playing and were shopped by a local Amusement Company tech. six or seven years ago - light play since. You can play them now and maybe change rubber rings later. He says he's firm on price but if you want to make an offer that's fine.

I'll be listing in the Marketplace with more pics.

For now he's firm since he just listed but if no one meets his price in a few weeks he's willing to come down to sell. Listed in Marketplace as OBO

Picked this one up about a week and a half ago. Pretty good cosmetic condition, but working condition was unknown. Set it up, and it starts up and plays through a game. It will need some work, but should turn out great. Got a new glass from the listing that Shay posted here.

How do you 'jr' fix that flipper wear?

#12126 4 years ago
Quoted from SteveinTexas:

How do you 'jr' fix that flipper wear?

I'm going to rub it out with fine steel wool, and apply some water-based polyurethane. It won't eliminate it entirely, but it'll be far less noticeable.
I've done the same with wear on the upper part of the playfield (arch wear), and shooter lane wear, and it works pretty well.

#12127 4 years ago
Quoted from bob_e:

Brought this one home last Sunday
Very nice playfield only one small wear spot from the kickout hole
Just under 42,000 plays

I think that's my old game, which was restored by a fellow Detroit pinball league member.

I’d like to see some before/after pictures of that repair. It’s funny how many Cowpoke’s have that flipper drag damage. I’ve had three and they all have had it to some degree.

I have a Wade Krauss Abra Ca Dabra playfield NIB that is gathering dust. If anyone is interested, Send me a PM.

Many of the '60s games get this type of swipe wear, particularly "Cow-Poke"/"Buckaroo", "Sky Line",
"North Star" and "Kings & Queens".

Figured it was time to bump this thread.

1973 Gottlieb King restoration finished after nearly 2-1/2 years by yours truly. Open heart surgery tends to delay things a bit.

Original Backglass, could be better but not bad. Cabinet repaired and painted by pinhead52. Lots of new parts on this one. Yes the coin bezel and door were chromed. Orange Dot Flipper coils on the bottom only along with yellow dot coils on the pop bumpers, no high tap. Fast and responsive now. Clearcoated some of the cupped inserts which turned out great.

Fun and very challenging with a lot of short games. Just trying to get 56,000 for 1 game is hard. I did get 70,000 last night and won 5 games at once. 2 on score, 2 on specials, and then the match. Good times!

This game took a lot of kids lunch money back in the day I'm sure.

GTB-A4893A - Yellow Dot Pop Bumper Coils - $10.00 ea PBR

Thanks!

I would have gone with orange dot but they do not make them as usually yellow is too powerful, but for King Pin it works just fine. I once installed them on a Abra Ca Dabra and it was a fail. Pop bumpers too close to the inlane/outlane wire rails and would blast the ball right over them. Moral of the story, Use yellow dots wisely.

This King Pin was a total mess with one leg in the preverbal dumpster. The replay and ball count unit are actually from a Sky Jump Pinhead52 parted out.

Ah YouTube, talk about issues with challenges. I want to launch another channel next year and hope YouTube can get their act together regarding CAPPA and the FTC. I won't get into details, just that it is a mess right now with new rules on the way. you can look it up if you want to.

I have not posted in quite awhile. Thought I would show how you squeeze 8 games in a 12x15’ room. I actually have room for a 9th. Knocked outed the wall behind the row of machines, will be expanding to 16 eventually.

Very nice! I was doing some measuring this evening for potential wall removal. Easy job allows 8 or 9 pins. Tougher job allows for 2 more.
