What's your technique to get the black inserts repainted? I've hand painted them and they usually turn out well, but yours look almost perfect.

Thought I'd post my Gottllieb Strange world and my Hit the Deck. Both are excellent examples of the games.

I have never noticed the ring bumper configuration on a pin before like along the sides of Daisy May.

So, ya'll're going to think I'm insane, but..

I sent the PF off to Neo to have him restore it. Cost about 3x what the entire game can sell for, but for me, this game's a keeper. The PF was in pretty good shape, but had horrid planking up in the white clock area, and MANY sunken and loose inserts. Neo touched everything up, fixed a few art issues, added one thing (see the outlanes? Explanation below..) and cleared it. It's been mounted on display for the last three months as I let the clear set.

The outlanes - so all the owners before me kept moving the outlane posts, putting them in various places. So. Many. Holes that by the time *I* got the game, all the holes were stripped, they were so close together. I was torn about what to do, until I thought of my Twilight Zone . I told Neo to route out the holes, so I can put in one of the adjustable plates under the PF like WPC games have. This will (1) Allow me to somewhat adjust the outlane posts when/if needed, and (2) look like it's from factory that way. Before, no matter where the post was, you could see parts of the other holes that were created by previous owners.

Doodle Bug done. First large area PF repaint. Not perfect but looks great from the players position.

It is quite nice!
Repaint on pf that beaten up are always a pain, let alone that size!

Well done!

Starting to clean up the Wiggler. Lots of old brown wax coming off, revealing plenty of original gloss and nice bright colors. Using Isocol on makeup removal pads and very gentle magic eraser on the tinwear.

Is there a dedicated cleaning thread here? A bunch of do's and don'ts would be helpful and before and after shots can be pretty satisfying

Here is a definite don’t!

But I do miss that feeling of bringing a playfield back to its original beauty - enjoy doing so to yours!

Just finished up a Jacks Open that was left for dead. Huge thanks to SirScott for helping me find a replacement backglass, and Tyamry for being willing to part with his. With each EM rebuild, I get a little braver, and tackle a little more. This one was a full-out mechanical rebuild that took a few months. Decided to keep the playfield and cabinet original though. I don't trust my artistic skill enough to attempt a playfield restoration quite yet. Still, I'm happy with the results!

Newest addition to the herd is a very rare 1971 Bally Skyrocket. This has been on my wish list for 3.5 years and I finally found one through the help of bluespin that was only 4 hours away in Akron, OH.

Sweet find, Ballypin! I’ve always liked the playfield lamp animation on this title. I kinda wish more manufacturers took a similar approach. I can only think of a couple, like Magic Carpet, and Firecracker.

Clearly the same setup as Time Zone, very cool!

And I agree, would be cool if it had been done more.

Picked up this nice Travel Time. The PF was really dirty, but cleaned up really well. And interesting playing against the clock, rather than 3 or 5 balls.

I played Nic's at the York Show last October, he did an outstanding job restoring this machine and I really enjoyed playing it with the light show.

Nic may be able to offer some advise on the restoration.

Yes, I played it last August at RPM... then I had to wipe my drool off the glass. He cleared the playfield and it looks and plays better than Day 1. I'm pretty sure I want to have mine touched up and cleared...just waiting to hear back from Kruzman.

This Globe Trotter has been mine for a while but I thought I would post a couple of pictures. It is definitely the most rare machine I have owned. The paint is in great shape thanks to a gross varnish someone put on along the way. Needs a new coin door made and half a cabinet repaint but it plays amazing. It has been my favorite game to play since I fixed it.

I had one of these and found it to be a ton of fun. If ever a woodrail had great flow this is it.

#11497 5 years ago

First woodrail! Grabbed it at an antiques mall that had it for long enough to bargain some. Needs lots of work but I'm looking forward to getting it playable and presentable.

Turned a down and brown Jack in the Box into a proper looking machine. Several nights striping dark chocolate (or turd if you prefer) brown paint off of back box and lower cabinet and found what was surprisingly a pretty great looking original paint job beneath. And before the paint stripping, spent a week or so tracking down and fixing the electrical problems including among a number of others, a couple of hard to find broken leaf switch blades causing no 10 point scoring, and the upper red / yellow scoring kick outs not to switch back and forth when the pops fired. Didn't take a pic of the entire machine brown, didn't want to memorialize it. Now if the back glass wasn't faded, it would really look great.
