Spot A Card?

#10502 1 year ago
Quoted from Darcy:

No Sir, sorry.
To add another clue. Older than Sweet Hearts.

slick chick

#10503 1 year ago

I'm disqualified because I have a good idea what it is based on a Pinmail by OP.

#10504 1 year ago

Sorry nope! It is older than Slick Chick and not a Woodrail.

#10505 1 year ago

No, but my Gottlieb pin collection is sadly missing a card themed game.

When you use BGResto, I know it takes a long time, but does he give you updates along the way so you have a ballpark idea od how long it will take and when it will be ready?

#10514 1 year ago

No updates is the norm. However about 4 months seems the current time for a new glass not made before.

That’s about right for my restores timeline. High quality product.

Hey Darcy, I'm working on the same machine right now! I like it! Enjoy. Does anyone know of a way to repaint the blue letters in the pop bumper caps? Thanks - nomo

I sent him an email saying I knew he was really busy, but I was curious if he could give me a ballpark estimate. He replied a few days later that I should have it in about two weeks. He was very polite.

1. Use a blue combination medium tip/fine tip Sharpie Marker (cheapest option)
2. Buy brand new reproduction caps from The Pinball Resource Daisey Domed (specify color) 10 Points When Lit - $12 ea.
3. Shop ebay pinball parts, etc. for used ones in good shape

I suggest you scan the pop bumper cap and laser-print out the blue decals onto water-slide decal paper. Might have to carefully double-up the decals. That's what I did when I re-made/fixed Star Gazer and Space Odyssey pop bumper caps.

Got the Aloha home, set up, and it is going to get some time to get use to that large flipper gap.

Mine has the post between the flippers. It works well to keep the game alive to add more fun. Does anyone know the real back story to the added post between the flippers? I also notice my cabinet is painted different. I don't know much history on it.

Fairly sure that the post between the flippers is not original. Most likely added later, by operators, or owners.
Going to have to look into the cabinet paint scheme, not sure on which is correct, or were there 2 versions.

Here is the flyer for Aloha, taken from IPDB. It shows the red colour on the backbox, along the lower panel and up the sides.

Your back box frame could be from a different pin. Is the side art on the back box of your pin match the cabinet?

And what time was it when that nice looker arrived home?

#10523 1 year ago

Pretty game and what a drain monster.

#10524 1 year ago
Quoted from Mopar:

And what time was it when that nice looker arrived home?

Left at 8AM back by 5:30PM. 3 hours one way driving on a slush covered Highway, stop for lunch then return, a casual Sunday drive. Only 4 vehicles in the ditch. On the way back the highway was mostly bare and dry. Then set the pin up right away.

#10525 1 year ago

The Aloha looks good!

#10526 1 year ago

Hi gang, like the aloha, but about bgresto.yes he called me about 6 weeks before it was done to tell me he just finished art work.good service .also if glass is not on file ,it may take a little longer.please be patient.

Just arrived today, gorgeous. Gotta figure what part is called for those creme plastic score reel slots that hold the score reels in place, they all are toast and the reels are just loose with no support.

Yeah it was and is. Looks great in person though a touch heavy on the webbing.

BTW, does anyone know what this is? It's double sided. I found it in between the upper right flipper plunger and coil stop.

I can't imagine how it got there, but it may explain why the coil sleeve is now welded into the coil and too tight to allow the plunger to move freely.

You dirty rat, I love that game!

#10536 1 year ago

so sorry

#10537 1 year ago

Don't be sorry. Just glad you got it before it got worse and you'll do a good job on the restoration I am sure.

#10538 1 year ago

gonna try. I don't know how deep I want to go with it just yet.

He hinted now and then. Your "Lucky Strike" for his "King Pin". Or didn't he ever mention it?

I'm not sure if he was serious. (were you Vic?)

#10544 1 year ago

I love those Hawaiian themes as well. Gottlieb had some great artists working for them. Hard to believe they went from Roy Parker and Gordon Morrison masterpieces to photographic atrocities like Raven and Hot Shots. A sign of the times, I guess.

My dad insists we keep our Gottlieb Swing-Along, not because it's a good game (IMHO, it's pretty bad), but because the artwork is so classically post war "Utopian America" with fun Parker details.

Quoted from mbaumle:

Totally agree but I would add Art Stenholm to the list of great back glass artists. Games like Sing Along, Heat Wave, King of Diamonds and Apollo are among my favorites from him.

#10546 1 year ago

Good call, heatwave. Forgot about him. I also like his work with William's. I think his backglass art on Alpine Club is my favorite. I've always taken a liking to winter/skiing themed games.

I might have traded my King Pin for it straight up.

I can't let go of anything, you know that.

And I'm liking Luck Strike. It's a challenge to beat.

Quoted from DropTarget:

Do you mean Gold Strike? Or is it an inside joke?

#10550 1 year ago

No. Williams "Lucky Strike". Vic is not a fan of add-a-ball machines. He has an "El Dorado".
