Just found a nice Gottlieb Atlantis on Letgo for $500. Backglass and playfield are almost perfect. No flakes and no planking or other playfield wear. It's just SUPER dirty, has the wrong legs, and a hideous coin door lock bar. Looks like someone tried to pry into the original door.

Figured I would share a before picture of the Big Daddy I picked up at the Tulsa auction. I stripped it down today.

I don’t understand how these games got so dirty. Clearly they got played a lot but I still don’t quite understand how so much dirt got behind everything.

I am optimistic that there isn't any wear under the pop bumper contact paper liners. Love it when operators took care of their games.

I started cleaning on the two girls on the right. Looking very good.

Saved a load of bingo PFs from a warehouse. Not sure what it is.

Big Indian is great. My BG is shot, and the cabinet is rough, but the PF is very nice. This was my 2nd machine.

Hey pinsiders.just wanted to say I got info I needed to get my funland working again.i took out a thread. ( funland score reel problems.).and Howard r came on to give good example on how to recognize lockin switches in gottlieb schematics .(for anyone interested.)this was need to know for me being a one year old newbie.again thanks Howard for the info.i hope this helps someone else also.

Just finished fixing up Bally Time Zone. Unfortunately I don't have the skills or time for full restoration. But rebuilt pop bumbers, and installed new caps and skirts. Cleaned and waxed pf. Fixed bad flipper and a few other elec issues. Cleaned 50 years of smoke stain from cabinet and waxed it. Repaired some cabinet delaminating. Removed and polished all metal on the pf. Cleaned score reels, and behind back glass. Triple thicked back glass and touched up 1 small area. And for those purists out there, sorry didn't change out the colored LED bulbs a previous owner installed. Kind of like the color. And yes, the legs are painted silver, not Bally gray. Sorry.

Although, I’m torn on whether I should stick a new PBR Coin door in, or find a used one. The one I have is puckered around the edges where someone was clearly trying to pry it open.

How bad is the condition of the coin door? Can you send a picture for evaluation?

Yea. That’s what I was leaning towards. I really don’t want to drop in a brand new door. Maybe I’d do that if I planned on re-stenciling, but I’m not.

That being said, does anyone have a decent looking coin door they’d be willing to sell?

The game had a little more wear than I had anticipated, but I think it turned out really nice!

Picked up this nice looking Fun Land. Original backglass is perfect, playfield should clean up nice, low plays on the counter, cabinet looks good, even had the 5 and 10 cent coin mechs. Never played this game before, should be a nice little project.

I had a Funland and really liked it. My kids loved it. Unfortunately, I wanted a 2001 more and so I sold the Funland to free up room (and $) for the 2001. Which I then subsequently traded for a Lucky Hand.

Anyway, you'll like it a lot! Very pretty playfield.

One of the score reels has a contact that is broken off. I'll be looking for a score reel to replace it with. The ones I have in my parts bin are all the later 70's model.

Which part of the reel do you mean? A switch contact?

The contact on the bottom of the score reel that is opened when the plunger is pulled into the coil. Not sure of the name for that contact.

I believe that’s the end of stroke switch. Post a pic of the broken switch and of the whole score reel unit. I mighty have an extra and if not I’m sure someone on here does.

I just finished doing “transplant surgery“ on a quick draw I am restoring, transplanting blades from some donor reels for end of strike switch blades that were broken or contacts are missing.

I think I may have an older reel laying around too.

I’m not entirely convinced that those are 100% necessary in the home environment. The reels on my 2001 don’t have a single score reel EOS switch that isn’t broken, and as far as I can tell, it scores just fine.

What do they do exactly?

They break.

From Pinrepair.com:

The Score Reel EOS Switch.
Each score reel will have an end-of-stroke (EOS) switch for its coil. This normally closed switch will open as the coil plunger reaches its end of stroke when advancing the score reel.
The EOS switch's purpose in life is to break the power going to the score relay. If this switch never opens, a score relay can stay energized (stuck on). This can lock on the score reel coil on (energized) and any feature (such as a bell or chime) wired to the score relay. This EOS switch should be cleaned and adjusted properly. If a score reel EOS switch does not open, it will cause problems (particularly on Bally and Williams games), keeping the score relay (and score reel coil/chime coils) energized. However a broken, permanently open, or missing score reel EOS switch causes far less problems.

The score reel EOS switch keeps the score relay energized for a longer period of time (increasing the score relay's pulse length for the things it is controlling). A broken EOS switch can mean if a playfield target switch is activiated quickly, the pulse train may not be long enough to score the points (or features) for that target.

What about a missing or broken score reel EOS switch? In reality this is usually Ok, and very common. Often one of the blades on the EOS switch breaks off (from constant use). This leaves the circuit permanently open. Again, this is Ok in most cases. The only problem that can occur is if the EOS switch becomes permanently closed, not open! If there is a broken score reel EOS switch, just forget it until the game is all working (then go back and fix it). Having a broken normally closed EOS switch blade only makes the pulse slightly shorter for the score reel to move to the next position. The exception to this is if the EOS switch is a 3 blade make/break switch or a normally open switch. In this case it is performing a carry function and is critical.

Note that 10,000 point score reels usually do not have a score reel EOS switch. Since the 10k score reel is controlled by the carry-over "9" switch on the 1000 score reel, a 10k score reel does not need an EOS switch.

I'm likin' that original cabinet paint! That's where it's at.

But that game looks to have a beautiful original playfield and glass as well, can't ask for much more than that.

I saw that. Need to play this first to decide it’s worth a new glass.

I'm pretty sure you will be done fixing it and well into playing it by the time that backglass is ready to ship.And I'll get you those score card scans long before that.

I’ll need to at least repaint the face of the head. Regardless of what I think of the game.

Road trip, 4 hours there and back. On Sunday March 18th. Purchasing another 60's Gottlieb, and it has 1 gobble hole, and a huge flipper gap.
