Quoted from MikeO:I tallied up $2.46M. That’s just over $2M before 23% buyers premium.
Yes, you read that right... millions of $ worth of EMs, mechanical games just sold to the highest bidders. Check it out! Amazing (if you like that kind of thing)
Quoted from o-din:Nice variety!
Thank you!
I still have to paint Touchdown, restore the cabinet for Bazzar and finish Grand Tour.
That is why I decided to sell Darts (Lucky Strike and Bust Stop sold this weekend past) I only have so much space.. you know how it goes.. I like Darts but it is not getting played.
Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:I’m a mere 2 pins away from my complete want list
That Neptune is the sweetest!
Quoted from gdonovan:That is why I decided to sell Darts (Lucky Strike and Bust Stop sold this weekend past) I only have so much space.. you know how it goes.
I sold my Darts too.
Thought I only needed one game with a shelf. Boy was I wrong about that!
Quoted from bicyclenut:That Neptune is the sweetest!
And it’s the original cabinet and glass. Playfield was done by Phoebe and it’s clear coated . I agree it’s a sweet example, wife’s favorite so it’s not going anywhere.
Quoted from o-din:Nice variety!
Funny thing is I will be there to see it This Saturday morning
Quoted from DropTarget:Hey Delta Queen, what do you think about Delta Queen? I may pick one up.
The one on Long Island for 300? Yes go for it. It’s convertible from add a ball to replay with a pin by the score motor. Great artwork and it’s nit hard to beat but you can certainly enjoy it . It’s my most reliable pin and the first pin I ever bought 7 years ago. I still
Play it and as a matter of fact I played a few games on it today. Back in 1974 I was in high school and pumped tons of quarters into one on route . I told myself I’d own a nice example one day. Found one in Craigslist Long Island about 150 miles away in 2011
. Made great friends with the seller and got hooked on this hobby.
Quoted from 1974DeltaQueen:Funny thing is I will be there to see it This Saturday morning
Free to play all of them if you have the time!
Quoted from dr_nybble:gdonovan
How’s the replacement thermometer I made for Heat Wave holding up?
To be honest, have not had time to pull the machine out and replace it yet! Nor the other 2 machines that need to be done.
Quoted from just4fn:Here is my EM machine. Big Shot
I have wanted a Big Shot for a long time. Nice machine!
Quoted from MikeO:Coming along nicely.
I have the Eye of the Tiger em also - nice addition.
Shot of the playfield. The lighting is gorgeous and what really makes this game pop when you see it.....the rectangular plastics in a “Y” shape towards the top are actually bumpers and react to the ball. Same with the ones on either side of the flippers at the bottom. They are not supposed to have the rubber on them, but the plastics is hard and brittle, so that’s my solution to protect them....
Quoted from SergioJ:The glass on the playfield raises like the Bally games from the same era, as does the playfield....
Before anyone gripes, this IS an EM game, NIXIE tubes notwithstanding.
And an overall look. The cash box and front door are somewhat of a pain to deal with, the legs actually fold up for transport underneath and you can see what I was talking about in regards to the height of the body when you compare it to the Star-Jet next to it.
Here's a picture of my friends basement gameroom in the making.I thought I post these pictures as a reference for anyone that might need them.....the Jet Spin and King Pin he bought off me over 10 years ago or more. They were in my collection and were restored by me. He has since then added a few more games to his collection. The Jacks Open I found for him too. I vaguely remember where I got the JO from. I know it was guy who had maybe a Buckaroo and another game and was here in NJ.

Vic,
IIRC, that "Jet Spin" was immaculate when you got it. Hardly needed a restoration!
I remember the two of us pulling that nice "King Pin" out of a NJ basement. Man, time flies!

Never played Jet Spin, but in EM heaven! Love that King Pin as one of my favorite EMs to play.
Quoted from Yoski:That showed up yesterday. Still haven't replaced the lamps on the PF. Got it working perfectly and put all LEDs underneath and most in the back.
Love the game. Osborne designs are terrific. . .Blue Note and Strange World are my favorites. Congrats! Not a fan of the LEDs, though. To each his own.

Nice! Is this the one out of San Antonio?
Quoted from goldenboy232:Nice! Is this the one out of San Antonio?
Yeah, I saw it on CL and 2 seconds later I was on the phone.

Love the bright colors of LEDs. Also think the less heat the better for the paint. High temperature swings cause cracking and flaking.
Yeah Blue Note is nice. Gemini is another very nice and very elusive EM. The Silver Ball Museum in Delray Beach has all 3 of those.
I’m not a big fan of LEDs in EMs either. But the way you did this one looks really good imo. Great looking pin.

Just like with make-up, if LEDs are applied properly and tastefully, they will enhance the look of any pin, EM or SS.
If not, the game will look like a cheap whoor!

I think that LEDs can enhance some EM titles. However, on Strange World, I note that so much of the great Morison art is lost with the LEDs, as shown in your photos. Compare those photos to these, which show the game utilizing #47 incandescent bulbs. So much more wonderful art is revealed on the backglass and playfield with incandescent bulbs.
While I agree that LEDs run cooler, #47 bulbs emit less heat than #44 bulbs and are unlikely to cause damage under typical conditions. If the game is in a temperature-controlled environment, #47 incandescents will not contribute to backglass or playfield plastic degradation.
Also, the warmer incandescent light is at home in a machine made in 1978 whereas the strident LED illumination seems at odds with the game's sensibility. Strange World was designed to look seventies strange as opposed to head-scratching strange. Alternatively, my age (nearly 59) is making me cranky about the discord these LEDs cause to my memories of having played these EMs in my youth. In any event, you've got yourself a line-up keeper in Strange World, for sure. Enjoy!

While I totally agree with you aesthetically, I would be curious to see an illuminated backglass photo from Yoski taken in daylight or at least with lights on in the room. Your photo looks like it was taken with flash. A camera flash is going to wash out the actual head lighting and show more printed surface detail. Due to the spotty locations of em head lamp sockets you're not going to see much illuminated art detail on the glass in a darkened room with incandescent lamps either. I mostly prefer incandescent lighting for everything, but I do sometimes use leds to accentuate a color or provide extra illumination under some of the playfield inserts or behind the backglass - never for gi. NicoVolta does something similar. He calls it the "stealth led" treatment.

Some digital cameras or phone photos, the picture of pins with LED lights always look different than what you actually see.

Indeed, a camera flash will enhance detail. I am fairly sure that the second photo, which shows Strange World at the start of the row was taken without a flash and depicts the most accurate image of the game in real life.
My Touchdown is showing considerable improvement.
Going to let the green set till next weekend and then mask off and paint the blue layer.
An original shown for reference.

a work in progress, let's see just how good everyone is at figuring out the machine! I'm guessing you'll need more of a hint.
You're really not giving us much to go on...

No, but the next picture will give it away.
and check out the fine looking Beatniks.
