Quoted from o-din:

What's the star for? I haven't looked into that yet.

Is there a STAR on the Roto-Target? On some Roto-Target games when the Star is hit it rewards an Extra Ball, I could only guess that on Domino it will reward with a Credit, or Special.

#9802 6 years ago

No extra ball that I can see. It might be too easy a way to earn a credit as well. I'll look into it later to see what it does unless somebody else her knows. I hope it's not the wrong decal but they all look original.

The Decal set for the Domino Roto-Target, from Pinball Rescue has 1 Star for only 1 position.

From the instruction card set on Inkotchnito's web site.

HITTING STAR ROTO TARGET SCORES DOMINO ADVANCE AND
500 POINTS.

Pinside sure can screw up a post. Those Trade Wind pictures were not planned and I can't seem to edit them out.

I looked at my score card but I must be blind in one eye and can't see out the other. Thanks!

And Trade Winds is looking good!

#9807 6 years ago

"Play Mates" awards an extra ball for hitting the star on the roto. "Domino", as was mentioned, gives an advance to the next lighted domino, bringing you closer to the special. They really are two completely different games; probably more so than any other add-a-ball/replay duo.

#9808 6 years ago

Funny part is it took me a while to figure out there is only one insert on each Domino. I actually had to lift the playfield to figure out why it wasn't resetting all the way to the first one and tried to adjust the stepper. lol. The playfield is that clean.

You should have been called out on that from the very beginning.

Quoted from o-din:

Thanks. I'm very pleased with how it turned out and how it plays. Still haven't kicked its butt yet but have won games and gotten to Tahiti on different occasions.

Going to need some stout help.

I was noticing how Trade Winds and Domino are similar in goals as you have a map on the playfield that you have to follow and complete to get where you need to go. But that's about where the similarities end.

I picked up my first EM, an Argosy that looks to be in great shape. It doesn't play yet but I am confident!

Completed full resto of a GTB 1978 low production Pyramid. Machine had some damage to cab rear, pf wear alongside the lower slings (happy with touchup) & initial delamination & flaking of the bg (sealing & touchup completed). As with these later DC inspired EMs machine plays really fast & has a great ruleset IMO. Machine has tandem transformers installed for 240V local power supply.

That dawned on me as well while thinking about the dissimilarity between "Domino" and "Play Mates".
"Play Mates" is similar to Gottlieb "Flipper" as far as the game objectives.
As you said "Domino" is very much like "Trade Winds".

Picked this up today for a good price. Pretty rare, can't seem to find too much on it, looks like a fun one, love the theme.

Nice!

Looks like great fun. Neat with the two slingshots at the bottom and the pop bumper. Bouncing basketball!

... but the post at the bottom, over the Gottlieb logo, isn't supposed to be there!

Just brought a couple in this weekend. Buccaneer is really nice original game. It's just here in the garage holding area and will probably go to a local friend. I'll tune it up and play it some of course. The Twin Win is destined for my main gameroom to replace the Bally Quarterback. Hate to give up the QB, but it is going to a good friend who has done me right many times.

Proud to show y'all my first pinball machine as an OWNER

Gottlieb's KING OF DIAMONDS!

What an amazing player this is - and very very pretty to look at. No wonder Vic Camp says its his #1 favorite EM pin of all time: I can see why. Such an amazing thing to have this here also as my first pin (the Sweet Hearts in the background is my first project pin)

This is simply a stellar example of KOD, thanks in large part to my friend ryan1234 who put so many hours into her. The glistening playfield ... 99% perfect original backglass ... shiny metal everywhere ... literally everything taken apart, cleaned polished, adjusted, repaired, and painstakingly reassembled. My gosh - Ryan you are the MAN.

Just look at these pics:

Nice example, but just one negative.
The coin entry plate is not correct for that game. It's easily reversible, but the chutes are hard to come by, and can be pricey. Most "KOD"s I've seen have triple coin chutes, so you'll probably need three chutes and a 5, 10, 25 cent plate if you want to make it correct.
Otherwise, a stunning example of one of the best wedgeheads ever!

#9835 6 years ago

I am glad to see KOD in a good home.
This is such a fun hobby, it is great to see new guys coming into it and having a great time!

Yes I know about the entry plate. I do have a new three-chute plate now in hand from PBR but as you say no chutes which are in short supply these days. My Sweet Hearts does have the coin chutes in it so might use those as a template and fab up some for my KOD.

I always wondered if the later more common style chutes could be modified to have the look of the earlier style. They stick far enough through the cabinet.

Hey guys,

A friend dropped this off, from 1964 I think. Can I get a rubber set and the nuts (plastic) that hold the plastics on from pinball resource? Slings are weak and one flipper chatters, which should be just a switch adjustment I'm hoping. Never worked on a game before 1975, should be fun...i hope.

Needs a good cleaning too.

Any idea what it's worth?

My project King Of Diamonds came with the wrong lock down bar, one with the riveted humped end caps vs what I think is correct - the welded end caps, which are hard to come by.
It did come with the correct coin entry plate, but the 5 & 10 cent spots are blocked off with the 25 cent having the chute and coin mech.
King of Diamonds is a great game and I'm still worling on getting mine to the next level.

Just sold my Top Score to a collector in New England. Here's a video of the gameplay...

Took a lot of work to get this one dialed in just right. Note the cabaret light mod under the top arch (bare bulbs, no color sleeves yet).

Here's the "Pleasure Isle" I managed to find the head for five years after getting the lower part. It's got pretty decent cosmetics all around, but it's a bit of a project, and is unshopped. I'm thinking of putting it on the block, and would really be interested in trading for a Gottlieb "Majorettes".

Just 1 question. Just above the 'Spin Roto' on the lower playfield, there appears to be a 1 circle in each side of the pin. Were playfield posts put there once? Or from another pin, the art work covers an insert?
