Entering month 14 on this restoration project. Plan on starting a thread for it when I get a little closer to finishing. My goal is to have it completed by October.

I had the camera out, so I took a couple pics of the Challenger.
I don't consider it being a great player, but it's plenty unique enough
to keep it set up in the game room, and it does get played during
gatherings..

Alex, once you sell your C.C. Basketball, look for one of these.
The Jumbo 10 Strike is a cool player, but from the 4 manikin
machines that I have, none compete (playability wise) to the
Genco..

My dad picked this up at a local thrift store (of all places). I forgot to take a before picture, but it was a small basket case. Someone drilled in a full length metal plate into the bottom of the game--presumably to keep vandals from drilling the coin box out, I presume.

I'd say it cleaned up nicely!

That's standard old school EM guy arcade flooring.

That's the best thing about Alex's Game Room. The floor..
"Only Joking". If I could jump in a time capsule that would
take me to any game room I wished in 15 seconds, Alexs
would be my first stop. Beautiful vintage set up.. (T)

Yes IT IS like a time capsule with all the neat stuff and the way it's decorated.

Looks like a neat machine.

That blonde all the way in the back with the cowboy hat looks like she needs someone to go on a ride with her.

Love the Art! Somehow all the women were beautiful, endowed, and anxious!

Where are we now?

Watched Anatomy of a Murder last night and the movie had a 1957 Gottlieb World Champ! I freaked out haha and they talked about pinball like 15 times.

Yes! I have a few contributions on there

#9473 10 months ago

Here are some pictures of my meager collection as it continues to grow:

Flip Flop! # 1 is a cabinet re-stencil project and just have to finish putting the playfield back together
Flip Flop! # 2 is a project for restoration or parts. This is the fourth Flip Flop I have owned.
Op Pop Pop is working and most likely will be listed for sale or trade later this fall
Fireball is working and will be getting a complete playfield teardown and restoration
Surfers restoration is almost complete and then need to fix a few gameplay issues
Dixieland was purchased as a project and is awaiting restoration
Bow and Arrow (not pictured) was just picked up today and will enter the restoration que

I have been intensely searching out Bally EM's from the 60's and 70's, mainly through CL, for the past few months. The next new addition to the herd will be picked up this coming weekend. The game has quite of a lot in common with both Fireball and Surfers. Any guesses ??

Nic, you are correct with Capersville. The one I found has some flaking on the glass and playfield wear but since they don't come up very often, I'm not being picky.

#9478 10 months ago

Is that the one that was advertised in the Evanston, IL area recently?

Nothing but great Memories....

Can anyone else recall the sounds and smells of the EM days?

A few come to mind.....The Boardwalk and the beach...Coppertone smell, Transistor radios, The Beatles, and The Beachboys....the smell of Cotton Candy, Boardwalk Dogs, and Roasting Peanuts!

Nothing better than the smell of EM wiring

#9487 10 months ago

My memories are a little later ('74 to '76). Popcorn from the cinemas across from the Red Baron arcade in the Southwyck Mall in Toledo, Ballroom Blitz by Sweet blasting from the jukebox at the Rack and Que in Bowling Green, Bubble Yum gum had just been released and stores were limiting sales of 1 pack per person, a small vanilla ice cream rolled in nuts in a sugar cone for 25 cents from Dairy Queen if I had not spent my last quarter on pinball.

Oh, to be a kid again...

#9488 10 months ago

Ballroom Blitz and Bow and Arrow! All summer long!

It's almost embarrassing to admit but I have a nostalgic fondness for the smell of stale beer and cigarettes. It seems a lot of the places that had games as a kid had that smell. We'd walk in the bowling alley or tavern with the parents and it would hit you. Parents would go sit at the bar and my sister and I would play the games.

I appreciate it that you brought to MGC. I put about 10 games on that counter. Great to see you found it a home.

Well, not yet. I just have it on the block.

Great looking machine.

Possibly a dumb question, but is the wood bolted to the legs permanent?

#9493 10 months ago

That Cleopatra is amazing. If you ever put it up for sale let me know. I have been looking for a EM version for some time. My wife loves everything Egyption. I already have Bally's King Tut and King Rex.

#9494 10 months ago

The El Toro looks good as well. A very classy looking 2 player. Where do you have it listed for sale?

Quoted from ajfclark:

No, will take them off soon. Garage floor is super smooth, I can slide it around a bit myself when working......keep the legs firmly to protect the cabinet from damage
Short wood strips bolted to legs and then nailed on top of long strips.....no bolts touching the floor.

I remember the cigarettes as almost everyone smoked. I didn't but the place would be full of smoke but the evening even with the door open. I was only 11 at the time. The arcade was only open for about 2 years but I would spend all my money and watch others play pinball if I had none. Some people would get angry if you watched them by the way. Me just being a kid I think they wanted to blame their bad luck on me. But I can understand that now being older and grayer.

Saw it yesterday I think $645.00 was it? Looks great also saw the newer El Toro for sale somewhere also.

I second that! That Cleopatra was it restored? An EM too! They must be hard to locate as I think this is the first one I have seen.

Just got this score on Dancling Lady. Was a hell of a game. I played a bunch last night and had trouble breaking 800. This morning I killed it and got an all time high up over 2500 once. I should have taken a pic of that score but this one was cooler as the machine is from 1966.
