Quoted from Otaku:

And your wife for the night (although that cost a lot less)

Wow! - haven't looked at this thread in a while and came across this statement.

WTF?

I personally know Dasvis AND his wife. Stand up people and no reason to slander his wife whose not even involved in this forum.

Whose next, his kid?

Quoted from Otaku:

And your wife for the night

Steve, I'm sure you don't know members wives on this group so it's save to say
that it's impossible that this really could have been meant. But none-the-less, it might
not be a bad idea the next time if for any reason you're a little perturb while you're writing,
to re-read it as if it were written and meant for yourself before you click on send..

Quoted from Gerry:

I think I'm gonna love this game. The ruleset seems awesome.

Gerry, I'm looking forward to playing this one when the next little festival is at your place..
Busy next couple of months, but with a little heads up, I'll make room.. (T)

Quoted from Gerry:

Allentown rescue....

I think Chuck (@ckcsm) was eyeing that one... lucky to have snagged it first!

Quoted from Gerry:

See Saw is getting there

Got to play that for the first time at Allentown. Fun! I think I want one now.

Quoted from Electrocute:

Luther's vendetta. A custom pinball machine made from a Dodge City. Pretty cool!

I played that at ReplayFX in 2015. It was well-executed and played nicely. The same team also rethemed another one which turned out well... can't recall at the moment.

#9005 6 years ago
Quoted from NicoVolta:

You should play it now, that i have had some time to spend with it...

It was all brown and yucky when it showed up in A Town from NC, hadn't been serviced in years...

NOW its getting the Gerry treatment...

It plays totaly different now from A Town, and is just a whole new experience... that i think you'd like even more

Hello all, I'm new to pins and new on the forum. Picked up a rather weathered Flying Carpet today. Looks all original and all there including lots of paperwork. Turn on but won't start. It was setting on this guys back patio for several years. Back glass art is rough, cabinet wood is in good shape but paint is faded. Blew all the dust out of it and it looks really clean inside. Figured I only paid $70 for it so it should be a fun project.

Damn nice shape for $70. Welcome!

Ball count unit has broken wiper wires. IMG2479 - Put on your list of to do's when you get acquainted with the project.

Playfield should clean up nice. Good luck with your project. Take your time and have fun.

Brought home my first EM, a Williams Gulfstream. I like the pointy people artwork and the game is pretty fun. I got it from a tavern a few blocks away that has been closed for quite a while. A lot of dampness/mildew to clean which is what I've been doing since I got it yesterday. I've killed off the musty smell significantly by cleaning and sanding inside the cabinet and just about any other area that isn't art or electronics. Yesterday, I could smell it as I entered the garage; now I have to be standing next to the cabinet. Gotta rebuild the flippers, chime box, and change it over to retro-looking warm white LED's. I've also waxed the playfield, sanded the lockdown receiver, and repainted the shooter housing since I took these pictures.

You'll enjoy Gulfstream - it was one of the first few EM's I got too. Still fun to play. Some of the best Pointy People are on Gulfstream ! They are on the glass, the playfield and the cabinet having a great time.

Backglass is in very nice condition on your example !

#9021 6 years ago

GS is a good game. Set it to AAB it's even more fun...
Light all 4 corners for 3 extra balls try to get 3 in a row. And then try to spell special. Lots to do and properly tweaked and high tapped it can be very very fast. Enjoy. Looks like it's gonna turn out great !

#9022 6 years ago

To not drag the thread off topic (and away from pics), if someone wouldn't mind dropping me a PM, I have a chance to pick up an EM game, and was curious about it. (A 'Jubilee'..)

#9033 6 years ago
Quoted from gdonovan:

The gameplay doesn't look that exciting to me but has to be about the sweetest backglass art I have seen yet.

What do you consider more exciting gameplay and why?
Paul Bunyan has a lot of non-stop action with the flippers at bottom, middle and top.
(My wife likes it for this reason. She gets bored with some games waiting for the ball to come back down to the flippers as it bounces around the top or middle of the playfield)
The backglass was done by one of my favorite "cartoony character" style pinball artists, Art Stenholm, and is in great condition.

Quoted from RyanClaytor:

You're right, though, I wasn't really noticing the cab or coin door.

The cab and coin door were strategically cropped out while filming the video and you can see why from the photos below. I'm hoping to re-paint the cab and de-rust/clean up the coin door/plates this summer so the game will look as good as it plays.

Hurry and get yours playing so you can share your feedback on the gameplay!

That coin door will clean up great. Too bad the coin chutes and entry plate are missing.

Yeah, the coin door is pretty decent. Give it an Evaporust bath & it should look sweet. The coin door plate should be no problem, but rumor has the coin chutes may be tough to find.

Hard to say, the top area looks to be a wasted opportunity though.

Personal preference. Some people like "card game" based pins and they do nothing for me for some reason.

I enjoy playing the machine. It has some tough shots and the A-B-C sequence needs to be completed in order. The game has an entertaining sequence of A-B-C that then trying to hit the target to light the roll under for extra ball and 500 points. It isn't the best machine but definitely enhances the collection and has fantastic art on the backglass!

The coin chutes and entry plates were removed in preparation for de-rusting.

I also have new entry plate price plastics from PBR.

You have the roll under and the A-B-C lanes to shoot for at the top.

Some pin themes like card games and clowns do nothing for me too.

The bulls-eye targets are very tough to get from the middle flippers.

I would rate Paul Bunyan as a "B" game instead of an "A" game that everyone is seeking but even then I wasn't impressed with some of the A titles that I tried like Cross Town. Each to their own.

Great - grab yourself a gallon of Evaporust & prepare to be amazed. You will need a plastic container big enough to submerge the coin door & coin entry plate.

I will as soon as I have the time to do this. I just wanted to show Ryan why the cabinet wasn't shown in the video. I promise I'll post photos of the amazing result here when it's done.

We both love those 5 star rollovers when their lit for 1k each, never mind when it's 2X scoring
This game restores my faith in humanity. Can't stop playing it.

I played a handful of games on Vulcan recently at Pinfest. Totally agree with you on it being a great pin. Your's looks super nice!

#9048 6 years ago

Wow, that Volcan is a beautiful example of a great Gottlieb game!
I repaired one along time ago. The only "mod" I did to the game,
is that I separated the pop bumpers and put them on their own
relay. It helped tremendously the dreaded ball jam/dead between
the point where the ball hits one pop bumper and bounces into the
other at the same time and does not recache back because the relay
is between moments of activation and resetting.

I had to show all of you this. What the heck is this?
