Unfortunately Williams games did not come with a manual until the 70's as far as I know. I know they were an earlier adopter of the pinball manual but I do not think it was that early, in 1967 when Touchdown was released. I know for certain Gottlieb didn't until the mid 70's, just schematics, and all three major manufacturers were like that for a very very very long time.

Cosmos didn't have a manual as far as I know and that paper actually came as a standalone sheet with the game. (unless it really was a mail bulletin but due to the content that seems a little unlikely unless they didn't realize until after complaints of the released final non-sample games) You DO see a lot of things like this mostly in the form of little cards (like instruction cards) that either came with the game in terms of it being a separate piece, or a lot of that type of information got stapled to the inside of the cabinet as well, although usually it pertained more to the inner workings, systems, and settings of the game if it was stapled inside of the machine - the more "top-side" stuff was usually found elsewhere like I stated.

Even if they did suggest it though, the last thing I would suggest today would be screwing screws in new spots into the playfield! Drops value, both collector and monetary. Your game, though, of course. Just a warning.

I have a few Williams manuals from the 60's and have seen a Touchdown manual for sale. I think 66 or 67 might have been the first years, I know '64 is a no go as I was looking for one for my Heatwave.

The '68 Daffie manual I'm looking at now clearly list play field conservative and liberal positions of posts.

If its a factory suggestion then I'm all good with it, if not I'll leave it be.

It would make the game more fun *if* there was a post there like the game pictured. The opening for the outlane is a gaping maw that sucks in any ball in the vicinity.

Value.. is subjective. The game has been repainted, the backglass a bit of a shambles and the machine actually started to catch fire while I was at the sellers house and it had been robbed of parts for good measure.

I have it running 100% again, replaced the bulk of the missing parts and some time in the future going to repaint the old girl so it looks something like it shipped from the factory but doubt it will have much collector value.

I wish I could tell you. I bought it non working and haven't had a chance to dig into it. I bought it on looks alone since I love the art package and the cool backglass animation. Hopefully I like the game play as well. Here's a funny review of it. He loved the art but wasn't super impressed with game play, maybe he would have liked it more with the out lane post installed?

This was a craigslist find. I thought it was a steal at $175. It probably didn't sell fast because it wasn't working and the back glass was busted. Luckily I found a place that sells a repro translite like film. http://www.coos.net/bingo_e/backglasses.html

Condtion cosmetically (except for the glass) was pretty good. I have it buried behind a bunch of stuff at the moment but will post pictures once I get it going. If I like the game play I want to do a full on restore to it like I did on my C37 last year. I really like the earlier cabs for this game that used a black base coat instead of white. I might contemplate doing that if I do a full tear down. I think the black cab goes well with the space theme and the rest of the color scheme of the game. I wonder why they switched from black to white for production?

You can may be get them to get Heat Wave redone also.

The black base coat is definitely the cooler and sharper looking paint scheme.
Mine is the typical white base, but i would consider repainting it to the proto scheme.

Those pics are not mine, they are from IPDB. My game is white. I'll post pics of mine after I unbury it from storage.

And who bought slick chick.it being a wedgy.hopefully playfield is in better shape than back glass.I'd say if playfield will clean up nice.500.00 is good starting point.did they say best offer.because we all know its $300. For new back glass.but the general rule in stl area is a nice wedgy for a grand or under is not bad deal.any thoughts.anyone!

Oh and I took the Big Daddy challenge when I was there to pick up. Light the one? Yeah right, I didn't crack 500. I'm optimistic though I think with 50 more tries I could pull it off. Very cool game.

I put some time in on it last night, i didn't quite figure out the rule set at my friends house where i got it from...

But i understand it now.. VERY challenging !

Every time you plunge it is a different skill shot, 6 choices, pretty cool...

certain number combos award extra ball, or open gates etc, along with lighting the captive hole or gate for high point awards...

still need to figure out what combo's do certain things

And shooting the gate is very difficult when its lit, one second its lit, and the next its not and its too late... if you hit the mushroom bumpers..

for sure a one more game type of thing going one here

Yep and combined with the speed of Bally games makes it even better. Targets change in a split second!

The BG is a repro from Shay. The original was about 75% flaked. The playfield was really good as received with only 2 or 3 wear spots that were easy to repaint. I also had to make a new lock down bar which was missing when I got the game. I also had to make a red 7 insert at the left drain lane since it was also missing.

The apron is a stick on from pinball rescue applied to the original apron that I spray painted in yellow. The game is ok playing. Like many games of the 50 and 60's there is a big glob of something in the middle of the playfield which makes getting the ball back up to the top very hard which lessens scoring opportunities. But it is a cool looking game and the disappearing bumper is unique having been used on only 3 or 4 games.

Picked up a couple of years back & very nice GTB Sure Shot (30k plays). I have only just got around to doing a partial service-strip & wax pf & service motor board. After rescuing a number of beaters it was great to work on a nice original machine. Only issue was a broken brake switch on the score motor but it had not previously effected gameplay & a few faulty lamp holders. Machine plays very nice.

I used the wet method to install as recommend by the seller. He definitely does not recommend the dry method. I laid the film and new glass next to each on a towel. I cleaned the glass. I applied a liberal amount of water from a spray bottle onto the film as I peel it off its backing as well as the new glass itself. the mix was 1 bottle of water with 2-3 drops of dish soap. The seller says you can't use too much water.

The water lets you tweak and adjust the position. Once its centered you use a squeegee to get as much water out as possible. I was a little aggressive with the squeegee and created a few scratched in the clear area around the moon window. However its very minor. I wasn't able to get a good pic of it since it was so hard to see.

The film is wider than the glass so there is some clear film over hangs on all 4 sides. Once its dry for an hour or 2 then trim the excess off. Even though I cleaned the glass prior to install, I noticed a hair trapped under the film when I was trimming the edges. Now that the film is dry I don't think it can be removed without damaging the art. Luckily its very small and hard to see unless you really look for it. So while its still wet you should also flip over to the front to double check nothing is trapped between the glass and the film.

I think it looks great. Compared to the original the color is not exact but unless you had an original next to it I don't think you would ever notice the color difference. I'll definitely use him again if I need another glass that he has done.

When I attached the trim to the glass it was a little loose so I also put some friction tape on the edges. The trim is nice and snug now. Unfortunately the game isn't running yet so I can't see how it looks all lit up yet.

I had this follow me home from Allentown this weekend. Looks and plays great. I played a nicely restored one one at a show a few years ago and have been looking for one ever since. Glad to finally get one.

Has a few cracks in the glass though. If anyone has a lead on a mint one or someone who has already repro'ed it let me know.
