Quoted from Rat_Tomago:

I swear this machine is pretty rare.

How about a hint. What era, or better yet, what year?

#8252 2 years ago
Quoted from Otaku:

Don't own an El Dorado but always enjoy playing one at the Silverball Museum and at Vic Camp's house as well.
Infact, just stopped over there for a great party the other night, haven't been over in a while but hopefully I will be much more in the future. Great memories made along with photos and videos. I'm not sure if I even played El Dorado that night (I have before in there though) - so many other games to enjoy too and I tend to have a different taste than most. Luckily that gameroom (let alone his other two) caters to all eras of Gottlieb games.
I'll have to post/share some pictures once I unload my phone sometime. Always a great time with great friends.

I definitely enjoyed putting some play time on the El Dorado, it's a great example and getting together with everyone.

Any hint gives it away. I gotta wait until STI has the machine and has it in transit. I am not going to jinx myself like I almost did 4 years ago. Lets just say I will get inbox messages for the better part of a year asking if it is for sale.

I finished my Gold Strike restoration last weekend. It was a big project. The previous owner stored the machine in a shed on wet ground, so the bottom rotted off, mice moved in, and lots of rusting happened. I had to give it a donor cabinet, a Wade Krause playfield, a Shay backglass, and a lot of love to make it nice again.

The "WOW" in the center of the playfield says it all - great job

Nice job.

Okay, but is it for trade? I'm thinking metal rail, right?

#8260 2 years ago

I'm gonna make it to one of your parties Vic.... it's on my bucket list ! I'll bring the Bud.

Quoted from Mopar:

It has pop bumpers. It has a shooter lane. There is a backglass. Oh yeah, it has four legs that are attached to the machine. Seriously mums the word until this beast is in transit. Not having it snaked from under me. It will be a nice reveal within the end of the week.

#8262 2 years ago

Wow is right! The game room isn't too shabby either! Must really like that layout on Pin Up to have a King Pin too. ( I like like both myself) Great taste in that row for sure.

What almost happened 4 years ago?

#8264 2 years ago

Not really mine. Picked it up for a friend who told me years ago that this was his holy grail. About 90% functional, and should clean up nicely. Flawless BG,

Quoted from jrpinball:

I don't think he was trashing replay games, but he was saying a lot of the drop target games are better in the add-a-ball version because the targets reset. "Drop A Card", "High Hand" and "2001" are three examples of games where the add-a-ball version is a much better game. I love add-a-balls, but also like the replay games as well. I prefer "King of Diamonds" to "Diamond Jack", but only because I like the red lights on the playfield for special.

While I readily admit to having grown up with replay version games, I also like many add-a-ball games. The resetting drop target feature on Dimension is nice; however, on 2001 there are sufficiently entertaining objectives after completing each drop target bank. The key deficit with Dimension is that I don’t find the game particularly challenging. It’s far too easy to garner free balls on Dimension. Also, while the art package on both 2001 and Dimension is attractive, the Dimension art is a tad busy for my tastes. Overall, in my opinion, 2001 is the superior game.

i am looking forward to having both set up and seeing which one is the best IMO
i am very open to AAB games. i feel that a few are far better than their replay counterparts.
i like the art on dimension just a little more. i sold my 4 square because i was getting a Astro. i loved 4 square and thought Astro had the better art and the game play would be just as good.
i was wrong. i liked astro but 4 square was much better IMO. now i can not find another nice for square. so now i compare the games before moving one out.

For some reason, I have a feeling that it's a Bally. Whatever it is, good luck. I hope it happens for you.

Funny, I have Wade Krause's El Dorado but it doesn't have one of his PF in it. I also Jack open and Hit the Deck to your replay versions in my lineup. I really would like to find a Neptune and a Gold strike. Nice lineup

Great looking game room and collection Jason

Ok, let's guess on your row of pins we can see plus clues you gave us:

Gold Strike
Lucky Hand
Hit the Deck
Pin-Up
Mini Pool
King Pin
Joker Poker em
Fireball

Now, on the row on the right I can't see much of I'll take a guess:

Dimension is one of them? (I didn't look at the games you list under your avatar)

Can you kindly show us a pic of the other games opposite the ones pictured? Curious minds want to know.......

Good eye, Hoov. I have Neptune instead of Hit the Deck, but the rest of your guesses are spot on.

I found another pic of Gold Strike that shows the other side of the game room. To the right of Spin-a-Card, which DirtFlipper restored, is Blast Off, which stashyboy restored.

Last night I first thought if a woodrail - "Balls-a-Poppin"
If metal rail - "Flying Turns", but later thought different.
Not sure if I should say, but I truly have a strong feeling
that the machine ends with L, and ends with L. If so, it's
a "Wow"! I have one of these that needs much work, but it's
all there and one of these days will get to it. The end of
the week we'll find out.. (T)
