Quoted from o-din:

I've always found ways to maximize flipper efficiency with stock coils on all makes and models. It may be harder, but if the shot can be made with what's there, there's no reason in my mind to change it. And most have the longer levelers in the back. If a game gets too easy, it has to go.

I can also tell right away if a prior owner put the game on high tap. That's one of the first things I undo.

From Lebanon, Missouri?
I emailed her but too late....Grrrr
Congratulations!

I just restored the cabinet 2nd time, first one was bad clearcoats, became more yellowing in just one year, not 40 years

*blush* yes... that was the one. I was the first one to call. Drove the 1000-mile round trip and won enough cash at the Hard Rock Casino on the way back to pay for the return trip (and lunch). Thank you Willy Wonka.

Pics are here (toys link):

http://mobigtime.wix.com/bigtimekustoms

Price was $900. Will need a new door frame, coin entry, some flaking in the backglass but very minor. Also note the center plastic is broken at the edges.

Says he got like 31 emails... yeow! Glad he honored the deal we made because it was a long trip!

Nice looking Cleo. Me thinks I should add some protectors to the corners of that center plastic on my SS Cleo.

I'm curious, on the few machines they made both SS and EM versions were the EM ones also made with DC coils, or were they AC coils like the rest (most?) of the EM's?

#7608 7 years ago

Nice work, Don. It's always satisfying bringing one back that has that one more game appeal.

Don't be fooled into thinking he honored a deal. The response I got was that they had a bid if $900 and were looking for more. You lucked out that no one bid more.

Have fun. Neat to have one of the EM versions of the System 1 games.

Actually once I arrived he did tell me he had another offer of $1200 roll in. *whew* glad that didn't enter into subsequent negotiations.

Very happy to have this one! My favorite Gottlieb System 1's are Genie, Sinbad, Joker Poker, and Cleopatra. Of these, all but Genie had EM versions, and the EM versions of Sinbad and Joker Poker suffered a few compromises like no resetting drop targets nor advanced multiplier scoring which dramatically cuts down the fun factor. BUT... not so with Cleopatra! It was the first System 1 and the SS/EM gameplay is identical between both versions.

Regarding collectibility, I think the valuation of System 1 EM's is backwards. True, Gottlieb produced twice as many EM Cleo's as Joker Poker/Sinbad, but all things considered it is Cleopatra and not the other two which is the one to get since it doesn't lack any features!

I believe both versions are DC rectified.

All the EM versions of System 1 games are rectified.

Ultimately he did honor his word. Glad you got it and are happy with it.

Hi Guys,

Thought this might be a friendly place to ask about a topic I just posted in which I'm curious about public locations for E.M. pinball and arcade games:

https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/electro-mechanical-location-pinball-and-arcade-games

Any help you can give over there would be much appreciated.

Sincerely,
Ryan Claytor

Hey, where is Dirtflipper anyway? Is he OK - I have not seen him on pinside in ages.

I was wondering the same thing this morning.... he hasn't posted for a long time.

DirtFlipper is alive and well - just taking a break from Pinside.

Send him all your leads for either GTB woodrails or late--era GTB em's!

#7617 7 years ago

I find he tends to take breaks like this every so often, definitely not the first time he "disappeared". I hope he's doing well!

QB looks fun, never seen that game before. What I really envy is that blacklight DD print next to it! I just put down some outer space themed glow carpet and it would have been a slam dunk. Sadly, they are all gone according to his website. Here's a shot of my new humble game room so far. (Admittedly, my Blackout inspired the choice, even has the same planets!)

Going by IPDB all were exportd to Italy, they did outer space orbit prior to tiger, did see some bootleg Tiger on the net with no Gottlieb logos on PF & BG

I had a chance to buy one of these recently, but it was a major project, and had an extra score reel hacked in. I had to pass on it.

Tiger's an Add-a-Ball! Have to keep an eye open for that one. I never had seen that title in person either.
I'd say nice hit picking that one up..
This is that last one that I went through. Needed much work. Took much of this month, but it's
in decent shape and plays well. A couple Pinball Pals encouraged me to make the trade, and turns
out they weren't joking. Very nice Player.. (T)

These are mine. Had Magnotron for quite a few years. Added Bank A Ball and Showboat less than a year ago.

Bank A Ball is by far my favorite, fun game!

I am not sure why people don't like Showboat. I can see it being a slouch if it isn't maintained but I really enjoy mine. To me the different flipped layout just adds to the fun. I also get, to each their own. Good flippers and pops probably help!

Magnotron on the other hand is a love hate for me. First EM and project for me, but that is the only reason it stays. In my opinion not a horrible game but I have played better.

Not EM but I am working on getting a PinBot soon which I thought would look cool next to Magnotron, and also my first SS and one of my favorite childhood games!

Good guys, keep it coming! I spent the last 2 weeks finishing the restoration I started last winter of my game room center piece that inspired the carpet. Same planets, etc. Yes, solid state, but still a single level game from my youth. Also set up my soon to be restored Fire Queen. The blacklight effect is pretty fun, well worth tracking down and installing the carpet myself. I want to add an em gun game and another pin to complete the for now, current line up.

My neighbor who I only met once that lives almost directly behind my house has a Skipper. In the 25 years I been living here, I never seen a glimpse of it. I wonder where Steve who lives close by me here in NJ got his Skipper from.

I have limited space here, so I wanted to - as that old knight said in that one Indiana Jones movie - 'choose wisely,' LOL.
I'm falling in love with the Target Pool. It's only been here about a month now but it's reputation seems quite well-deserved as a serious player.
