I have a drop a card and the Playfield Plastics are original and they are yellowed I'm going to try to put these leds under them if it worked like it did on my pro football which were also yellowed it will brighten them almost like new. With today's technology there is a place for LEDs on these old machines

LEDs on left not on right

I have been really happy with all the LED's I've gotten from Nifty LED. I tried some other brand off of ebay and they were crap. Nifty has a solid product. Be careful when you order and make sure you understand what you have ordered. I recently ordered some non-ghosting warm LED's to give my playfield a more softer look. Turns out these don't fit in the holes of the playfield. I would have to drill the holes out....well, that's not going to happen. I contacted Nifty and they told me that the ones I ordered are for the inserts. They offered to exchange them for me, but I declined and put them in another machine. They then gave me Free shipping on my next order, so I ordered the Retro LED's. Great customer service and they responded to my emails quickly. NO I don't work for Nifty LED, I just appreciate good customer service.

I order frosted white warm in color from cointaker as I just posted on a different post I had a couple broken Playfield Plastics on my pro football that I couldn't get repos so I made some protective covers out of lexan I liked it so much I made a cover for every plastic piece on my pro football I plan on doing that on my other four games it will take time but a piece here and a piece there these LED lights will give off enough light to get through the Playfield plastic and the lexan and brighten the game up

#6855 7 years ago

I had a couple Ems come my way with LEDs installed. I was so excited...to take them out.

#6856 7 years ago

Like I said to each his own.

#6857 7 years ago

LEDs probably look best on EMs with long flippers and lots of drop targets.

#6858 7 years ago

I have used leds behind a BGResto glass. I think that they are kinda needed due to the density of the color film used. Tried them for Top Score in various other locations, but there were some ghosting issues so I went back to 47 bulbs. I prefer the incandescent look, anyway.

#6859 7 years ago
Quoted from D-Gottlieb:

I went back to 47 bulbs.

47s? Most of the EMs I've ever owned came with 44s. 47s are not bright enough for GI or inserts on the playfield. I have put some behind the backglass on games with some paint loss there though.

I agree I use 44's
in home you will never have the game on long enough to have any heat damage. the brighter bulb is the way to go
if the bg has lifting once sealed the extra heat shouldn't be a factor

#6861 7 years ago

I had tried 47s in some games, but they just didn't cut it especially in machines with limited amount of GI bulbs. Under rollover buttons I could hardly tell they were lit.

#6863 7 years ago

Whoa you have an early production Atlantis with the half circle replay? Sweet.

#6864 7 years ago

I all #47 everything. Obviously it's fact they're less bright than #44's but I never noticed an issue. Very close in my opinion and more protective, especially since I have all of my games on at the same time sometimes for a long time. To each their own!

Edit: Also, the difference is amazing. I can tell when I go to remove a bulb with the game on after it's been on for a little if it's a #44 or a #47. #44s are OUCH.

#6865 7 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

Without hitting the drop target on either how do you collect the special?

Wow.... I think I've owned both Heat Wave and Teacher's Pet before you did so of course I know you have to hit the drop target to collect the special.

I also know the 60's William's games are fundamentally different from drop target bank games that Gottlieb produced. That was the point I was trying to make, sorry I didn't parse that out to your satisfaction. Geesh, didn't realize you invented pinball.

This is my favorite pinball art I think. Two guys getting together, from different backgrounds, sharing some peace.

Ahh yes, just like above.

That has some really great art.

Yes, thank you. One heck of a fun game, too!

That is correct, but for me 47s do not seem that much dimmer and do run cooler.

Picked up a Jacks Open a few weeks ago. A few inserts need leveled, but it's in pretty nice shape. Not as nice as the one "EMsinKC" has though!! Play meter says 26k+, but who knows... Giving it a thorough cleaning/wax, new rubber, some new mylar trim platters, tweak a few things and put her back together.

very nice.... there has been a few in the last few months show up here looking that nice. the best 3" card game imo.
they made three flavors of this one, composite pf, grooved shooter lane and metal shooter lane. not sure in what order they were produced.
i'll email you about the sing along

#6872 7 years ago

Looks like a low played beauty to me. Send some cabinet pictures please.

#6873 7 years ago

Sure! Here's a few. One scratch on the left cab by his crown, about 6" long. Otherwise, just needs cleaned. Some fading in the backglass letters (red). I haven't seen a 'Shipment' block of wood before. Found an NOS glass that's really nice...

My Top Score has one of those blocks. Sometimes the operators don't pull them, I guess.

How about one of these ? Found this in the original envelope for a Hearts and Spades I got recently....

I like the misspelling too. Note that the grease pencil is red.

I like the "Warning This Machine Is Protected By Burglar Alarm" sticker on the apron.

I'd love to know the story behind those stickers. My Quick Draw has one.

The EM lineup minus Williams Top Hand that is not working right now. These could all use some cosmetic work but it's more fun to play them!

Hey thanks Dave, I did have one in the back that I had switched around. Fixed now.

For some reason I can't load pics now??? Anyone else?

#6884 7 years ago

This one lives in the garage because the game room is full. Not a great game but a good game and really fun to play...in my opinion.

if I am allowed to have an opinion, I think ship ahoy is the better player of the two. I had both at one time. I really liked the game play on both but the aab was just a little better. hard game to find with a good bg.

#6886 7 years ago

I have only played Ships Ahoy a few times. You don't see many of them out this way, and I would have to agree with you.

#6887 7 years ago

I'll go the other way ... I've played both and much prefer buc - guess I'm just not an aab guy
To each their own!
Cheers, Ron

Last night I was just thinking over my machines and just really thought about how nice my Spin-A-Card is. It needs a light cleaning and new pop bumpers and I need to strip the paint off of the coin door bar, but other that it is a museum quality machine all around with no doubt in my mind. So that night (pretty late) I went down and just looked it over and admired it. Sometimes it is nice to take a step back from thinking of what is next and admiring what you already have.

The next morning I grabbed these pictures and just today I saw the score motor was missing a spacer just like I went through on my Domino (twice), so I fixed that up and it got the spinner working for the first time in my ownership. It was too late to play it though at that point, but very exciting! Definitely tomorrow...

I almost forgot how nice this thing was, it doesn't get much better than this. Even the cabinet paint is great all around. I definitely have a newfound proud feeling in owning this machine, more than before.

Pictures don't do it justice, especially before cleaning. Such a great looking machine.

That is a beautiful machine. Always loved the artwork on this game and the spinner flashing the lights on the back glass is very cool.

I really love this game. I put orange dot flipper coils in and it made this game play so much better. I also moved the flipper stop to its max position so there is a little more throw on the flipper. Great game.

ACD is a keeper for sure. I've thought about changing to orange dot coils, so good to hear it has enhanced it for you.

To have a collection like yours in working order is worth a Kings ransom!I would play them too and put off cosmetics that didn't improve gameplay.

I haven't considered that yet. Mine are pretty strong, but the flipper angle makes hitting that center target a challenge at times.

I found on mine it was too easy on three balls. Moving it to five balls made it a much tougher player.
