Well, I guess this is as good a place as any to show these. This is the start of my restoration of my 1966 Williams Hot Line. I'm about half way through sanding down the cab and head for repaint, but waiting for the weather to get better so I can get back outside. So I did work on the bottom board instead. Stripped all the components, board sanded down, motor disassembled, cleaned up, and reassembled, all relays disassembled and cleaned and reassembled, and the wiring harness scrubbed down to remove all the grime. Looks really nice. What did you use to clean up the harness?

A mix of Simple Green and water and a toothbrush. Works really well. I've used this before on other games and it gets the harness pretty clean. Doesn't seem to harm anything and it doesn't remove the color from the cloth insulation. Really cleans up the high voltage plastic insulated wires well.

needs to be black and relaced into the wire harness.

The white cord was all I had that was grounded when I was having a grounding issue with this game. It will be replaced before the restoration is finished.

It won't be relaced, though. I don't do lacing. The cord that was in place when I got the game was not laced in, either.

not every mfg laced the cord in. If not I do zip tie it to the braid to support it.
I have a white cord that has clips on the ends that I use when testing the bottom board.

There's no evidence on this one there ever was any cord under the lacing. The lacing is tight and there's no remnant cord there.

I do zip tie them in when I replace them. This was just a temp fix until I found my grounding issue.

**NOT MINE**, but I fully repaired this 1974 Bally Amigo for a local business run by a good friend of mine. Had a TON of issues and happy I worked them all out. Wired for free play, stress tested, and ready to go into the lineup after he waxes it. Had a major ground issue and also had to go through most of the reels as the 9-position switches were adjusted closed on many of the reels, on the 4th player set if you scored 10 points you got 111, etc., lol.

Previous owner let their own cat sleep/live inside of it, no waste though, just a LOT of hair and cat dust. Luckily he vacuumed it before I got there but had to again in the middle of it, bleh. Made my throat all weird (not fully allergic, just sensitive), I don't really like cats and my body doesn't either.

Disgusting, and no, I wouldn't buy this thing for cheap, even though it's pretty cleaned up now. But luckily from the outside (unaffected) it should be a great player and it's the first EM at the location (with at least 35+ other pinball machines), so that's nice. Had a ton of fun doing it though and love helping out my friends. Will be interesting to see how it does, tweaked it so there's not much to fail. Not even sure if I will be here when it arrives as I have a doctors appointment, so the wife may be in charge of that but I have not even told her yet. Aren't surprises grand!

Doubt it it works 100% (none I get ever do or even close) and not sure when I have time to work on it get it or set up as I am in the middle of my friends Williams Touch Down restoration but hopefully will be done with that in a week or two then I'll take a look-see.

I visited the PHOF dozens of times over the past two years. Tim looked like he was running out of patience... but he still had plans to build a second facility and double or even triple the footprint. But it seems unlikely now. Failing a successor, the games will likely be spread to the four winds via auctions and sales. He has far more in storage than the 200-ish on the floor. Far, far more.

I'd venture to say he has way more than 1000 games, if the video of his warehouse means anything.

The problem is, how many of them are really in any shape to be played? We all know that EMs that are left to sit around for a long time develop a lot of problems, and even if you're the best tech in the world, which he just might be, you simply don't have the time to do anything close to fixing all of them as they should be fixed.

It's extremely doubtful that someone is going to step up to run the place, so he's going to be left with a crap ton of games and nowhere to go with them.

I guess it's cool to have every Gottlieb ever produced, but when you can't even come close to getting them in condition to be played, what's the point?

it does show the games as Triple X, must be one of his mods.

Last time we spoke about it, he told me "hundreds" were ready to go. Just needed a place to put them.

Must be his own 2 player conversion? Keep in mind OXO is 4 player and that one is 2 player. Nothing comes up on Google for it, and there is no factory 2-player variant to OXO.

Wouldn't be difficult to limit the game to 2-player.

I've actually been down your way a couple of times recently. Three hours or so each way.

So this should be in my mailbox this afternoon...I'm stoked to get started really cleaning this machine up. The only bad thing is that I have to quit playing it to clean it.
Has anyone used this cleaner/wax from patelrock? I'm thinking about using it but then actually applying a coat of carnuba afterwards.
I also need to do some more reading on leveling the inserts. I'm leaning toward leaving them alone though. It seems to add some character to play.

When I first got into the hobby I used it. It's not bad. It's a small bottle so longer-term you'll get something else. Tim Meighan (one of the best restorers in America, based here in Seattle) recommended that after de-populating the playfield I use a simple liquid polishing compound from Turtle Wax (can get at any auto parts store) to clean before waxing. It's gentle and really does a great job getting dirt off.

Opinions here on waxes are as plentiful as the folks who post here, but a good Blitz wax or other (currently I'm using Maguire's #26 and absolutely LOVE it).

Knowing up front that there are many differing opinions about cleaning and waxing and everyone is passionate about "their" way. Good luck!

I use Naphtha for cleaning (first, of course) and Johnson's paste wax for waxing, and you can buy both locally at Home Depot. Works like an absolute charm and you can't mess anything up like using too much from what I've found. Napatha goes onto microfiber rags I use (make sure it's a clean nice rag, I bought brand new ones for the purpose and then wash them after) and not the playfield, and I spread the wax around on the playfield with my fingers.

Im buying a Jungle this Saturday. The guy says it works and in great shape. I'll post the pics when I get it home. He wascasking $700 for it but will take $550 for it. Im hoping its a fair price lol.

Jungle is one of the most desirable games of the early 60s. Boston pinball price guide has an average of $750 up to $2150 paid for it, so I think you are doing OK if we are talking about the same machine.

Did he specify if it's a Williams or a Gottlieb?
If it's the Gottlieb, meh!

It is one of his kits. Really nice and complete with the decal. I'm uncertain of using the cleaner/wax and then being able to apply a carnuba wax afterwards because the cleaner/wax contains petroleum distillates..??
