Pinball porn! That '75 El Dorado. One of these days I will have one.

#454 6 years ago

Nice Kings and Queens there, Dirt! Got to play a little bit of the machine on location earlier in the day, got a good enough score to win 7 free games. Talk about generous!

On location? Where?

Nice little Video and Magazine store on Metcalf in Overland Park, that just so happens to have pins there.

#458 6 years ago

That is sweet, I will have to check them out next time I am up there. I always make sure I hit Pizza West when I am in town as well, but it would be a trip to play some EM's on location.

Pizza West rocks. And they have an EM as well, Superstar!

Also in Overland Park there is Papa Keno's that has a Sure Shot and Lawman. The Lawman's cabinet is faded badly though. Still playable!

And all of this talk on EMs being out in the wild inspired this: http://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/ems-on-location

#460 6 years ago

Cool, last time I was at Pizza West he still had the Tri Zone in there.

#461 6 years ago

Got it lit up and playing! Not in the lineup yet. I have it out in the room so I can service it easier. Playfield is pretty dirty and will take quite a bit to clean. Backglass is very nice! Cabinet is starting to flake. Notice the custom slingshot plastics? I found the originals in the factory envelope tucked under the bottom board. Schematics and install manual and many score cards and replay cards too! Left original sling plastic is broken across the top hole. Right one is good. Upper right plastic is broken too. Not bad though for $175.

Nice !

would like to play a GA sometime

#463 6 years ago

Nice score! Can't wait to see how the playfield cleans up. I see Magic Eraser, Simple Greenand 91% Alcohol in your future.

I have read through the 10 pages in this thread and the passion you em owners have is pretty special.
I wish I had room to add some of these beauties.
I have wanted to ask this but thought I would get pounded on because I don’t have much to go on.
The machine I put more quarters in than any other was a machine from around 1966 to 69. It had a spinner in the middle (like totan and one that Odin posted w/ a billiard theme).
I’m hoping that one of you may have some knowledge of this machine. Sorry, cant remember the theme, only the spinner in the middle and time frame. I looked at all the em’s pictured…but it isn’t here. Don know how many machines had spinners, so just trying to give this a try.

A spinning disc like Fireball has, or a 'spinner' (like a game board spinner)? 'Road Race' has a spinner in the playfield, for example. There weren't that many games with either type of spinner, so knowing which type will help narrow it down.

#470 6 years ago

Unfortunately almost every Williams game from that era had some kind of spinner in the middle.

#471 6 years ago

DF..I know, not much to go on..but are there that many with a spinner during those years (it was a new game they put up for us locals).

Grey scale...thks ..nope
AlexF..no not star pool..think that was the one Odin pictured.
I will know it when I'll see it..but I cant picture it..make sense?

sh?t...thats not good

#473 6 years ago

Go to internet pinball database and type "Williams" in the advance search box along with specified dates of 1965-1970 and look at each game. Most likely 12 games for each year produced. It will be fun to look at because you will see games that you have long forgotten about since you were a teenager.

But what "type" of spinner? Was it:

a) spinning disc
b) spinning arm (like a little flipper that rotates around)
c) a spinning flag target (shoot the ball under it, and it spins)

Still not clear what you mean by 'spinner'?

#475 6 years ago

Or do you mean those 'spinning posts' thing on a disc?

If it's that style of feature, then there are 18 games with it listed in IPDB:

http://ipdb.org/search.pl?ft=spinning+posts&searchtype=advanced

(including TOTAN)

One of those perhaps?

#476 6 years ago

Just like the one in star pool..only dont think there were lights under the spinner.
ps..dont want to derail this thread....just all you guys have a wealth of knowledge.

#477 6 years ago

Wisconsin by United, 1948. Notice the ball rolls across the top of the playfield glass, into the playfield. You need to launch the ball this way due to gambling laws in Wisconsin at the time.

yep..thats the way to go..thks

#479 6 years ago

Star Pool is the only billiard theme that has the Totan type spinner that I'm aware of. There are other games with that type of spinner.
Aces & Kings

Star Action
Triple Action

Good looking machine. IMO $175 is a steal! Congrats.

I agree. Thanks to Rat for starting this thread!

Following this thread motivated me to go after this pin. I am looking forward to cleaning it up and playing a bunch. Now I have two Wedgeheads and two early SS Williams AND I have a third wedge in my sights. Sweet Hearts! It is in bad shape. Playfield glass is broken and game has been sitting in a garage/shed for years. Lots of dirt and flying bugs been in there. The backglass is about 1/3 gone as best as I can tell. I am going to ramp up my efforts on the owner and see what I can accomplish. I'm thinking of offering $50 because I know what I'll have to put into it just to get it to play again!

Totan has a Star Pool type spinner. Lets give credit where credit is due. And although my Star Pool isn't up and running yet, it looks to be a much better game.

Pafasa, I am very happy that this thread has made you want to buy up some EMs If this thread made that ONE person buy an EM or two then part of the mission of this thread has been accomplished.

Make that two people I want a single player EM pretty bad

#486 6 years ago

You will find tons of them in Missouri.

#487 6 years ago

That is what I am hoping, but nothing of interest yet

Alright enough with the chit chat ,bring on them Em pictures.

Is it fun to play?

It is. Rolling over the switches to spell out HOTLINE is a lot of fun because it's just hard enough to keep you interested even if you don't have a great score.
The folks who engineered this one earned their money. Just ingenious.

Let's revive this thread! I am hoping to be acquiring not one but two wedgeheads before long. Assuming I can get the deal made

We had one local for free on CL the other day but I was still on vacation.

#494 6 years ago

Finally something to contribute! Been looking for a wedgehead to add to the lineup, and I just picked up a Gottlieb Sing Along. Backglass is blown, but the playfield cleaned up real nice. I'm still an EM newbie, so I wanted a working single player table that I could learn on as issues arise. The play counter says 4700 plays which doesn't seem like a lot to me for a 46 year old machine considering I've put about 30 games on it already.

The game is addicting as hell, and the art is incredibly charming. I'm sure I'll have some questions later.

Was that the free one that I missed?

Great find!

Pretty sure the counter has rolled over and you are looking at 104700 Plays.

I believe a repro Backglass will be available for this title in the near future.

Enjoy!

Ah. That makes -a lot- more sense.

Even so, for 100k plays, there is very little wear anywhere other than the kickout holes. I'm more than happy with the condition.

Ah, well there was one of those for free on CL here in Springfield on Saturday. I was out of town, but I know it was only listed for about 30 min before it was taken down. Looks like it is in the same condition.

#500 6 years ago

Looks pretty fun, similar layout to Kings and Queens. Do 3 of the saucers kick out to the right?
