Picked up this barn find gottlieb hot shot today with I think german coin door.Just curious if anyone knows how common was it for these pre 76 em machines to"cross the pond" versus more recent times?Stumbled across an odd one today!

There was a point where 80% of Gottlieb sales were export. And, due to the coin op laws of Germany, many came back by the container full in the late 70's and early 80's to restoration companies that resold them to the public.

Mainly Multiplayers to France and Germany
Single players to Italy
Spain had laws protecting their own pinball mfrs from imports.
All the old USA EM pins exported to UK were destroyed in the movie "Tommy"

I once owned a reimported Gottlieb "Hot Shot". Because it had a 50HZ motor in it, it would have trouble scoring 50 and 500 points, because the motor ran too fast for the score reels to keep up. If you're going to keep the game, put a 60HZ motor in it.
