Quoted from currieddog:That looks really nice, and I would let it be. I've had mostly very good results with clear coating, but twice it backfired in a very bad way and now I'm very hesitant to do it again unless absolutely necessary.
One backfire was a near-pristine Williams Fun-Fest, which, even though I've since sold the machine, still bothers me. The other my Gottlieb Flipper Parade, where some formerly ok areas went south afterwards. I had to remove a bulb on that one (right majorette's face) so it didn't stand out so much.
Thanks! Ah, that’s terrible! Really sorry to hear about that. Thanks for the advice, I don’t think I will, the paint is pretty stable and hasn’t started flaking. I think She’ll be fine
Thanks for the input, everyone. I think it’ll be ok, it has been in a non-climate controlled room since 1973. Just was wondering what the process was? Triple Thick on the backside? The paint on the back is super tight, virtually no flakey parts.
Quoted from xTheBlackKnightx:The extent of physical backglass damage cannot be determined from the provided photo, or a recommended preservation method, if required.
The photo is the wrong side.
There is almost no damage.
