Did the em pinball machines ever have music or other sounds besides chimes or bells? If so what machines did have music?

Bells and Chimes, and a Knocker, are the normal items used to create sounds in an EM.

There were game specific differences. Like the 2 examples listed here, there may be more, not sure.
1934 Live Power, had a Buzzer to simulate an electric shock sound.
1935 Big Game, had a simulated Rifle Shot sound.

As for electronic sounds in EM games, in the late EM era 1978, 1979. Wico made an aftermarket sound card to add to an EM. Look up Electronic Sounds EM on Pinside there is some discussion there. Manufactures and Arcade Owners used these Electronic additions to help keep EMs competing with the early SS pins.

The only EM pinball machine indicating it has actual music of which I am aware is Coleco's "UFO Electronic Pinball" which in spite of its name is EM but has electronic music:

I can't think of an EM pinball machine that uses 8-track tapes which would be the other method if not a processor card.

Maybe someone else can think of any others.

All I can say about Zaccaria's EM "Strike" is that it has "electronic sounds" so this may not be music:

There are some Italian pinball machines that are equipped with biri-biri which is a short piece of rudimentary music. A tune, rather:

and here's a list of some games we have found with that feature. I am sure there are more:

    Non-pinball games:

Midway's "Haunted House" gun game uses an 8-track tape for background music.

Williams "Peppy" the clown marionette uses 8-track to play music.

Not music but electronic sounds from a sound board on Interflip's Dragon.

(didn't notice the 8-track mention above, carry on)

    Quoted from JWitty:

Well when I played it was normal bells and chims, but the background music being player by the owner over the speakers. Classic Rock which by the way I seem to play my machines better when there is music on. Sorry but that was the only music I remember. This was before Walkman.

Several pitch-and-bat games used 8-track set-ups for background sound, (usually to simulate stadium crowd). Action Baseball and Line Drive are 2 examples.
