Hello all,
I am working on a Pat Hand that was reportedly changed by a tech 20 years ago to accept nickels (story from previous owner).
When I drop a nickel in, the reels do their thing and the first player is started, no pushing of the start button needed. If I put more coins in, it will add subsequent players. If I add 5 coins in, it will cycle back around to only 1 player. At this time the credit reel does nothing. I fiddled with the credit wheel and added a bunch of credits where now when I turn the game on, I can press the start button, a game will start and the credit wheel will drop 1 per button pressed.
Any idea on what has been done and where I would start to get this working back to how it should?

Thank you all and any help appreciated.

Jared

I think that is your coin adjustment jones plug settings most likely.

Do you want it for coin drop? Why not set it for freeplay?

Definately NOT an EM expert, but I will admit - I thought that all (most?) EM games automagically started a game on coin insert.
The only time the credit wheel was incremented was if you:
1. Had a coin denomination that gave you multiple credits per coin (2/$.25), or
2. Got a reply during gameplay.
3. Got a match. And match was enabled, and set for replay.

If the machine allows to continue to add players after the 4th player has been added, the coin unit 4th position blade switch might have been altered to allow the coin unit to advance past the 4th player. Unless the coin unit gear has a tooth removed not allowing the unit to advance the 4th player.

Thank you all for your great info. I ended up putting the game on freeplay by placing a spring in the the top switch on the credit wheel in the head. I learned a lot working on this machine. I'm looking forward to my next EM. This one plays great!
