I need to replace the missing bell in my recently acquired KoD.

I have parts to make up all of this assembly at a pinch, but no bell and no idea of the size needed.

If anyone can let me know the size of the bell / source for the bell it would be greatly appreciated.

PBR is out of stock of the 5'' bells which might be the correct one??

Thanks in anticipation,

Luke

For reference>>

Not sure how many bells are OEM from build date but 3" diameter black finish bell assemblies for Gottlieb Used for 1 point score sounds, 3" diameter bright plated bell assemblies for Gottlieb are for usually 10 or 100 point sounds,5" diameter bright plated bell shell for Gottlieb usually 100 point sounds.

The 1959 Sweet Sioux by Gottlieb i have has the three bells i just described.
It also depends on if you want to have all three seperate tones?
You can also wire it for both 10/100 points using the same bell too. Just depends on the tone you want. Steve Young(PBR) may not have them in stock like you said but he should know what bells were in from the factory(maybe send an e-mail inquiry)

If you have a manual or schematic it says how many and which size also.

The 5" bell was in the cabinet the others in the backbox.

Thanks Pin-it,

Yep, I think it is going to be the 5" bell in the cabinet. I will continue my quest for the elusive bell.

I figured these things were going to be hard to find.. the machine is 45 years old!!

Have sent an email to the guy on Mr Pinball - Thanks again!!

Just organised to get the bell assembly from the guy on Mr Pinball - nice bloke actually - his name is Rick.

thanks again,

Luke

Excellent, glad to help out
Let us know how the bell install goes.

Will do.... should be plug and play.... some screws and just two wires to solder on to the coil lugs.

Yes they are ,as i just did a ones bell a couple of day ago.

I ran a 'proof of concept' test last night by attaching the two wires to a spare flash lamp (906) in a socket I had lying around.

All works - I get a nice flash (which will be the bell later) for each 100 points.

Will be nice to complete this project.

It always amazes me how many bells are missing from games I service. I have no idea why they were removed.

Yezzzz...it's my evil plan to amass as many bells as possible...to fulfill my vision of a 256 bell EM pinball machine. It will play all the classics! And, it can be programmed for the Christmas Season...Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell Rock....

possibly to quiet down the game for someone who had non- pin-lovers in the house/neighborhood? (I know hard to believe, but.......) Some folks disconnect chime units for the same reasons, I think those sounds are one of the best reasons to play EMs!

Slayer Reign in Blood!

From a lacerated sky.

Iron Maiden`s Number of the beast at Christmas would not fare well for some people.

The bell arrived today and I just installed it. Big thanks to all who assisted in the detective work to find one.

good to hear you found one

No better feeling than completing a machine! Back from the dead and fully working now.

Especially when you can fix them w/o an engineering degree.
Btw which is it rigged for the ones, tens or hundreds or a combo?

#24 11 years ago

Just hooked it up to the existing wires - 100s. The two other smaller bells in the head were working already.

Combo......sounds interesting.....not sure what it means???

#25 11 years ago

If one bell goes belly up you can alligator clip the feed to another bell which basically does a double duty till you get a replacement.
Easy answer >They share the same bell.
Being your from Australia crocodile clip it.

#26 11 years ago

OK. I get that.

Good info.

Gotta go, .... the kangaroos are jumping down the main street and my pet emu is having issues with the koala in the gum tree and platypus in the billabong.
