Interesting repair question here. I have a 76 buccaneer that has been working flawlessly for a while now and it had been meticulously gone over prior to that. However, just last week, without moving the game or anything I began having intermittent playfield power. For example, the game would start up just fine, score reels reset, etc, and I could plunge the ball and start playing a game. However as the ball was bouncing around, I would loose power to the playfield (EXCEPT LIGHTS) - meaning I had no flipper power, and nothing on the playfield would score or react (pop bumpers, slingshots, etc). Now normally, I would think TILT, but like I said, the playfield lights were still activated. I also would suspect a game over relay, but from what I can tell, there is no game over relay in this game.
I know it has to be a poor connection somewhere because this problem is intermittent. It can go dead and stay dead for a long time, but it can also go dead for a split second then come right back on in the middle of a ball. Also, interestingly, the ball sequence is still in effect. Even if there is no power to the flippers or playfield features, I can still plunge a ball, have it drain, and it will cycle through to the next ball until end of ball 3= game over.
Frustrating. Thanks for your help!
