Quoted from GraniteStatePin:So I had a thought the other day.....How do I tell if my cab is from a 2 player Surfer or 4 player Surf Champ?
They are the same, no difference.
Quoted from MikeO:Ken,
No disrespect here, but if he has a complete body, Surfer or Surf Champ, including the playfield and main relay board, it does matter if he actually has a Surfer or Surf Champ.
Playfields will be identical between the 2 player and 4 player versions. But not the main relay boards.
Schematics would tell him want to look for that is unique to his game. I'm not at home but can look at them tonight. Surfer will have a 2nd Player relay on the main relay board. Surf Champ won't.
If you were saying the body cabinets between the two games are the same, that is correct, but not the main relay boards.
To clarify, I was talking about empty cabinets only, not with mechs, just the wood.
Quoted from pinhead52:Surf Champ will have a coin unit stepper on the bottom board. Surfer does not
I get all this, the guts are different in the cabinets between a 2 and 4 player Surfer / surf Champ. I was just talking about the wood cabinets themselves, they are the same for the 2 or 4 player, interchangeable, no difference. This is the only thing I was trying to get across to the original poster. Geeezzzz.......
Quoted from hoov:Here's a bunch of heads FS in North Carolina:
Strange how the Heads are in such nice shape it makes one wonder what the heck happened to the bodies?? Flooding maybe??
Quoted from hoov:Here was the op's reply (not what we wanted to hear).
Tom Reybein I asked the same thing to the ME and she said that the bodies never turned up and nobody knows anything about the heads. Sad story really.
Sad indeed.
Quoted from jrpinball:It's not unusual.
Heads and bodies often get separated. In rare cases, they are reunited; sometimes many years later. It's happened a couple of times in my own experience.
I guess there is always hope. It would be amazing if someone else had all the exact cabinets at one location. Long shot though.
