I'm 43 - although i wasn't allowed to hang out in them much - of course in the '70s an 'arcade' was just pinballs ...
i still remember when our local arcade brought in space invaders ... at the time it was GAME OVER for the pins
but for me the ems are special, as a kid i used to watch the older kids play them and watched my dad play them when we went on holidays too - their sounds and art have the same allure now as they did decades ago
strong sentimental memories there ... and now as i am getting 'older' i like their nostalgia and simplicity relative to the 'computer pins' .. although i do have one early ss too
strange, how for me space invaders held my interest for a few weeks but the em pins are still magic
The one on the right is the German model. It got packed into the back of Rotordave's hearse when he was here a couple months ago.
The one on the left is the nicest original condition Fireball I could ever hope to find. It is now in my livingroom. The German one was very nice as well.

Hey, oldcarz.......
Just noticed you've spent time in Cherry Hill, (I'm assuming NJ). I remember the CH Mall and that amusement area well. I also remember a whole bunch of pinballs there. Capersville was the first Bally Game I've ever seen at the time. I felt just the look of that game, and with multi-ball, etc, made it ahead of it's time. I also remember that dreaded roller-coaster, as when in operation, you couldn't hear anything else. Those were the days..........
I didn't start playing regularly until '66. At that time it was mostly Barclay Lanes, (on Rt. 70). Do you remember that place? If so, we may have met at one time back then.

Yes, talking about Cherry Hill, NJ. circa 1964-1973. I worked in the arcade, not only detailing and maintaining the pinballs, but I was one of the ride operators, helping out at birthday parties, etc. Running the roller coaster, water boats and the super scary haunted house ride where a fake skeleton would jump out at you. Mostly teenagers going in there to make out. To this day, I fondly remember the Kings and Queens and Riverboat as my favorite machines.
There was also a Wizard at the Moorestown Mall...
Yes, I was at Barclay lanes. I dated a girl in Barclay Farms (she went to CH East, I went to West, class of '70) and you'll undoubtedly recall Ponzio's, (still there), Overbrook Barsons, King of Pizza near the race track, etc. Fond memories of the food places and we also went to Latin Casino, The Pub, had panzarottis and I also raced my '69 Camaro at Atco.
Possible that we could have met back then. I was friendly with kids from Pennsauken HS, both CH schools and Camden Catholic.
Joel
BTW- I spent most of my adult life in Florida...near Melbourne and Clearwater.
