This is like asking which national brand of coffee people like. You are going to get a variety of answers. One would guess that 75% of the answers will be Gottlieb Wedgeheads.

I like keeping Bally games on the low side. Makes them more affordable to me when I get all the ones I desire. All the Gottlieb talk makes the Gottlieb games I want to sell or trade more desirable.

    Quoted from o-din:

I may be in the minority, but at this point there are no more 70s 3 inch flipper games from any of them that I will be looking for.

Exactly! Go 2 inch flippers or go home.

For two years on here I was a one player Gottlieb guy. I have burned through like 5 out of 6 Gottlieb one player games I have owned.

I have owned Abracadabra,King Of Diamonds, Royal Guard, North Star, Central Park and Slick Chick (still own). I have also borrowed Atlantis and Kings and Queens.

The only one that I would own again is Royal Guard. (just my honest opinion.) I don't think there are any Gottlieb single players 1963-1967 (17 of them) that I would own. I have played them all except Gigi. The only gottlieb single player that I have a mild interest in owning would be a 1969 Target Pool. All it took was being introduced to Surf Side and now Big Top to have some love for 2 player and 4 player Gottliebs. I have a 4 player Ship Mates in the restoration que. I think I am good on Gottlieb for a LONG while.

Williams...I love Odin's "Big Daddy" and have some mild fondness for "Palooka" as well. I look forward to playing "Trade Winds", "Teacher's Pet" and "River Boat" I like 4 Roses and look forward to playing Heat Wave again.

Bally...I am so eager to start collecting Bally zipper flipper games from 1966 Bazaar to 1973 Nip It. It is awesome to own a 72 Fireball again. My mouth drops open every time I enter my room and stare at Fireball. I am in love with it. There are times I am playing Fireball and I look at the clock and it is 3am and I should have been in bed at midnight or 1am. Amazing game!

"Once I got ran over by a Toyota and Oh what a feeling!"

    Quoted from jrpinball:

Yeah, that was from "Kentucky Fried Movie".

Nope....That was from a bad movie called "They Call Me Bruce" 1981ish maybe 1982. It was a bad Bruce Lee parody movie that was played on HBO constantly.

Since we are talking about vehicles...I had a 1997 Toyota Tacoma V6 with 134k miles until someone ran a red light on me and T-boned me. My hips and back still hurt 2 years later. I did however get a 65 inch TV and 3 Gottlieb pinball machines out of it.

    Quoted from o-din:

I just did make it home! To find out STI came today while I was at work to deliver a machine that I scheduled delivery for tomorrow morning. The driver left a message and his phone# that I could not understand. What else can these people screw up? You know it won't be on tomorrow's truck...

Call STI's main 800 number! They ALWAYS have someone to answer 24/7. They will make notes and contact the Orange County hub and straighten things out.

Set your alarm for like 6 maybe 7am and call the Orange County #...worst case scenario is you drive the 10-15 miles to go pick it up...I would if they give you any BS.

I should just post the pictures of you holding the liquor bottle at the liquor store from last year.

    Quoted from jcg9998:

Since I own quite a few of these things, I figured I'd chime in. Also, I don't put gameplay at the top of my list when buying games. I prefer great themes (especially sci-fi) and unusual features and rarity in games.
Here are my favorites from the flipper EM era (made in USA):
    1947-48: Gottlieb
    1949-51 Chicago Coin & Genco
    1952-62 Williams
1963-73 Bally (love the art and themes, Capersville, Wiggler, Fireball, 4 Million B.C., etc)
    1974-79 Gottlieb
Gottlieb would be first or second in just about every era for quaility and gameplay.
1950-1960 Williams are my favorites due to the unusual nature of the games. Many people today don't realize how many features first appeared in these games only to not be seen for many years into the future. They didn't always work out (some were just downright awful!) but they weren't afraid to try something new. So a 10 for originality.
United, Exhibit and Keeney didn't show much originality during their runs. United didn't like flipper games and resisted them for a long time. Even then, they didn't really use flippers.
For whatever reason...Bally only build 3 flipper machines between 1948 and 1963. They focused on other games.
Chicago Coin had it's moments and tried a few things (Big Flipper, Casino, Hi-Score Pool and invented the up and down post between the flippers but then just sort of faded away until they filed for bankruptcy and Stern bought out the pinball assets.
Midway never really built pinballs..just a couple.
....and lastly Marvel Manufacturing whom I mention because as a woodrail collector, they are one of the nine american companies that built them...built about a half dozen flipper games over the course of a year...nothing too special here.

Hey the bottle was FREE. My buddy had brought it over 6 months ago as a Christmas gift. I am almost done with it. Time to get a bottle of Jamison instead.
