You can move the drop target unit a bit away from the playfield.
Had the same problem, unlosen the screws holding the unit and try to move it a bit up.
Does not need a lot of adjusting, but can make a world of difference.
The reset plungers do not need a extra spring, maybe al little drop of oil on the pivots might do the trick?
I have rebuild two this year, replacing all the drop targets, and that is still not my hobby.
Result is of course a perfect working one
