If you have an air compressor, you can get good results with a cheap HVLP spray gun from Harbor Freight and using paint from spray paint cans. Here are the results of my first go around doing this:

I used the HF 62381 HPLV kit. Take it apart and clean clean clean it before you use it. To get paint out of spray cans, I would let a can sit for 1 hour, then tap a small pin hole in the top of it with a sharp nail or screw. It takes a few days to fully vent out. I would cover the pin hole with tissue and shake every so often and it would vent some more. Once it no longer vents, shake well, enlarge the hole to pour out. Painting with the HVLP will give you so much more coverage than directly from the can. The base coat of white was done with less than 2 cans for cabinet and back box, inside and out... several coats.

But before you paint.... it is all about the prep work. I did a LOT of bondo and sanding... more bondo followed by sanding. It seems like there is always more to fill and smooth out, but in the end it is worth the effort.

Depending on the artwork, straight lines are simple to mask off. Curves and such gets a bit more complex. I have a small plotter cutter so I made stencils for the bowling pins.

If you have any questions, ask, I'll do the best I can to help out. I'm no expert, just watched some YouTube videos and painted a couple of cardboard boxes before doing this.
