I can't make the show it but if anyone knows of a North Star for sale that's reasonable (projects welcome) let me know. Brian Saunders will be going to the show and delivering pins on the way there and back.

    Thanks........Dave

    #2 5 years ago

i, as always, want a sing along... there are also a few earlier machines that i'd like, hoping to find at least 1 decent early 60's project as well...

    #3 5 years ago

I'm working on a nice Gottlieb "Golden Arrow" that I plan to bring to the show. It will be for sale or trade. I haven't come up with an asking price as of yet, because the game has a ways to go. I'm interested in possible trades for "Free Fall", "Gold Strike", and some woodrail titles. Also would like to find some of the more scarce Williams titles such as "Ten Spot", "Reserve", "Metro" and "Highways" and Ballys "Sky Divers", "Hay-Ride" and "Harvest".
I'm open to any reasonable trade offers but I'm going to be pretty selective. Will plus or minus cash in trades if games are not of equal value. Looking forward to meeting Pinsiders attending the show, so raise your hand if you're going!

    #4 5 years ago

I'm seriously interested in finding a Gottlieb Grand Slam (the 1953 woodrail version).

If you have one or know where one might be found, please send me a PM.

    Hi all,

Being fairly new to this (pinballs and living in the USA!), I was keen to understand if this event is a good place to pick up an EM project? (e.g. Instead of waiting for something half-decent to appear on Craigslist/ebay)

It would be a 3.5 hour drive, so thought it best to get some feedback on the event before I mention a trip to the wife.

    Thoughts/Comments?

    #6 5 years ago

The Allentown show has one of the best, if not the very best pinball flea market of any of the shows. There are many project EMs at all levels of disrepair; from totally roached out to just needing cleaning, waxing and rubber rings. I would highly recommend you go there, and if you bring the wife, there's a great Farmer's Market right across the street. It's mostly food, so bring a cooler and load up on goodies. Three and a half hours isn't too bad. I do four hours for the York show in the fall.

If you do decide to go let everyone here know what games you would like to buy. Good luck!

From what I understand the Allentown show is a honey hole for EM machines in both the show itself and the flea market. I hope to attend for the first time this year if my financial situation permits.

Will be looking for a 2001

Oh man, if you find one there, post a bunch of pictures of it and some gameplay videos if you can. That one's high on my list (but unfortunately we're currently in a holding pattern on new machines in my household).

    #17 5 years ago

I'd be happy to if I find one. Been looking for years

    #18 5 years ago

I may have a Gottlieb Bank Shot at the show. I have 2. Both have nice cabibnets and Mint Backglasses. THe playfields are both nice. One is better than the other. One could use a coin door. I plan on shopping them out. Not sure If I will keep one or not. If anyone is interested in either one, I am open to offers / Trades. I can bring to the show for free.

    Quoted from hoov:

Thanks, Hoov. While I'd like to continue on a theme (I have a Capt. Fantastic, so I guess a Wizard...or a Kings and Queens but I know that's unlikely as a project and would be more expensive than others), overall I'm not really picky - just something that has decent potential.

Frankly I'm driving myself, my wife, and probably my employer, nuts with my constant searching of Craigslist/Ebay, so I'm hoping this trip will take care of that.

Couple of questions for the experts:

    1. Is $100 to $200 a reasonable average for a project?
    2. I can only get there around Saturday mid-day - will I have missed all the bargains?
    3. Is it a good place to pick up a back-box door?

    thanks!

    #20 5 years ago

    1. $100-$200 will likely buy you a major project, but you never know. I bought a pretty damn nice Williams "Lucky Ace" at the Fall Pinfest (at Merchant's Square) a few years ago for something in that range.
    2. The show will be somewhat winding down by then, so it may be a good time to buy those games that are still around, but most of the killer deals will likely be gone by then.
    3. What game are you looking for a backbox door for? "CF"? There are usually many available, and unless the one you're looking for is an oddball, chances are you'll find one. I know someone who makes them, and will make one to your order if you'd like.

    #21 5 years ago
    Quoted from jrpinball:

Thanks, its actually for my Bally Firecracker. But I just tried the CF back box cover and while I think its the same, it is very tight and does not quite fit, as if the Firecracker box has shrunk slightly. Perhaps I'll follow a tip I saw on this forum and take it to a sheet metal /HVAC place and see if the can make one about 1/16 smaller.

    Thanks again.

    #22 5 years ago

Funny, last year there were a sh!tload of EMs in the back row of the show. I think I may have been the only one to buy one - fast draw. Seeing that made me decide to start dumping my em collection...

    #23 5 years ago

The last 2 years there has been almost nothing in the $200 range worth buying...only thing close was 2 years ago one a VERY dirty Playmatic Fiesta and was actually ok under the dirt. The seller in the back with all of the EM's went home with a mostly full load...prices were too high. If you want deals..keep local and keep you eye on CL. Even then there is high competition.. It is a fun show, but don't get your hopes up too high on the super cheap EM's..

North Star is placed on hold for the time being since I spent all my money on boxing but this thread needed bumped up anyway - Allentown is getting closer.

so are you still loking for a space walk?

25k is a ton of dough. I understand there were only 215 of them made but 25k is just plain nuts. I'll bet there are several mid 70's games for 500-800 dollars that play just as good if not better. Joker Poker is good but stupid expensive and a SS version has 5X bonus instead of just 3X bonus. SS version is five times better IMHO.

    #29 5 years ago

Rat...the guys that collect these rare titles for the most part (some, not all) it's about braging rights. sure there are better games but how many people here on the em forum have even seen a space walk?
The few guys i know that have some pretty rare machines have mucho mucho dinero, so for them it isn't an issue.
i would rather buy projects and do the work, which i like almost as much as playing plus i have poco dinero
I had a mint ss joker poker and a friend has a mint em joker poker. I played both a lot and would rather have the SS any day. people want it due to the rarity not for the game play. a lot of people have it on there want list but never played the em. i bet if they did they would opt for the ss and save a ton of dinero. just my .02

    #30 5 years ago

I have 2 projects in decent shape (cosmetically and working), a Bally Flip Flop and a Williams Grand Prix. Mainly looking to trade both for a decent working EM. I have a new baby and not much time for projects anymore, so I'm looking to thin the herd. I'll have pics and more detailed info up later on today or tomorrow if anyone is interested.

is it NIB? I would think $4K tops for a nice one.

    #32 5 years ago

i think one sold on ebay last year that had issues for 15k
and a nos pf sold for a lot also
i'll see if i can find it

The thing with that game is that it's the very last EM title ever made by any major manufacturer. It's a landmark game when you consider that fact. But, for 25K, I'd throw it out the door in a heartbeat!

    #35 5 years ago

Last year there were many nice games especially in the back row. The prices were not that great. No "Deals" nice games at a market price. If you are looking for a game it is a great place to go especially for EM's Great deals are all in the eye of the beholder I suppose.

Not new, but a very well done full restoration. Was lucky enough to get to play a few games on a couple weeks ago.. That game is super fast.

New bulbs and rubber rings, motor board disassembled and cleaned, new coil sleeves and bumper links, new flippers and flipper links, will have new legs. Asking $895 with original glass. He may have a new repro backglass available for an additional charge.
Ice Show is in full working order; plays lightning fast. Playfield - 9, Cabinet - 8, Backglass - 8+. Works on coin as well. Asking $1100 for this rare game.

Does anybody have any Sonic EM game for sale at Allentown? I won't be there but am prepared to dispatch an agent to purchase! Preferences are Prospector and Super Straight, will consider Faces, Butterfly, Cherry Bell. Won't get my hopes up for a Bird man! Also would jump on a decent WMS Strato- or Super-Flite.

    Can't go wrong there.

Good luck on your quest and hope you find one as mine is not going anywhere.

It seems my pinball sickness has rubbed off on my dad! He wants me to find an old woodrail bingo game for him. Specifically after a Bally Beauty, Frolics, or Bright Spot.
Think that's his top 3. I know it's pretty soon to the show but if anyone has one, or knows of one. Please let me know!
    Thanks all.

Have you looked on eBay? Lots of bingos have popped up on there lately. If you're going to the Allentown show, there's lots of flea market games including bingos. Also, PA being a hotbed for bingos, there's lots of guys to talk to and ask. I'm sure you'll have no problem finding one or more of those games if you look and ask around at the show.
