I had no idea that TV show was still on. Not that I ever watched it in the first place. Was she supposed to be funny?
Quoted from chuckwurt:What's the draw then? I really don't even understand what she is famous for.
She was a heck of a beer saleswoman, but that's about all I remember about her.
My sentiments exactly. When I'm buying...
Quoted from Skypilot:You were probably never up that late.
Oh I was and I tried. Just couldn't get into it. Wasn't funny. And her voice was like nails on a chalkboard.
The only people who look like they're being schooled , are those that admit they want another "nostalgia" pinball machine.
Quoted from romulusx:Damn dude who pissed on your cornflakes?
Nobody. I use 2% reduced fat milk on my cereal.
Quoted from LTG:Nancy Claster. She was hot.
LTG : )
Miss Nancy was hot, but you don't see us begging for a Romper Room pinball machine.
Sigh... I guess that's what separates the men from the boys....
Quoted from jgentry:Weren't you over in the homepin thread talking about wanting Thunderbirds which was chosen because of it's Nostalgia in Australia and Europe.
Mavbe because of it's lack of nostalgia in the USA. You really don't have too many choices any more. But how many more do we need?
I certainly didn't go begging for it. And I can live without it. And probably will..
Quoted from playboywillis:Joe Bob Briggs was the shit
I had to log back in just to give that a thumbs up. That dude was hilarious!
Would you buy another Playboy pin if it had all the same girls that were on the first one as they are now? Or should I start another thread...
Quoted from mesmashu:BM66 showed stern the age demographic where the true money is. Expect them to keep going back to that well.
So do you think we will get a Batgirl pinball machine next?
Quoted from Pahuffman:I'd tend to agree this is a badly outdated theme.
Well, to be fair, we are part of a badly outdated crew it would seem.
Quoted from Reality_Studio:I film girls for a living so I suppose half of that is true.
Do you do a lot of senior citizens?
Quoted from AlexSMendes:Come on o-din , just admit once and for all that the thing you want most is a Justin Timberlake pinball machine to go along with @chittow's most desired Selena Gomes slot machine!
Not really.
But since we now have a young dude with a cell phone pin, is it too much to ask for a hot young chicks without cell phones pin?
Quoted from AlexSMendes:wouldn't it be so fun a pin full with hot anime chicks?
Certainly more pleasing to the eye than the 60s Ed Roth clone shit we've been seeing on games lately.
Quoted from ASOA:Not sure what the OP has against horney old men. I aspire to be one some day.
Do horny old men really go after women their own age or older, or is that when they have no other choice.
I'm trying to stick with the one's that haven't gone thru mental-pause yet. And maybe a little younger...
Fireball was one of the machines that got me into this hobby, and I don't need another.
I guess you can call me grumpy for lacking enthusiasm on that one.
All that said, If we make it to the Halloween Haunt at Knotts this year, I'm going to go see her show and keep an open mind. I think it will be fun. I was into other things when the TV show was on.
Quoted from Pinball-is-great:I think Bally milked that one pretty good with these follow ups to the 1972 Bally Fireball:
And there's nothing wrong with Stern trying to capitalize on a franchise Williams put on the map. Those two always had each others back.
Quoted from Aurich:This whole thread was made to insult people for liking something. Wtf? Pinside doesn't have to be like this.
It's the same way when somebody do like something. Without the conflict, pinside might wither and die.
Quoted from NimblePin:Why do people keep thinking once Cassandra is out of the picture, Elvira will be too?
So true. After Miss Nancy left Romper Room, they gave us Miss Mary Ann, who was just as hot.
And who can forget when Steve left Blues Clues...
Quoted from arcademojo:Well, I guess at 50 I'm a horny old man because I can't wait to see the next pin. Funny thing is, never watched her movies.
I'm sensing many in the over 50 crowd tuned out when it was on. Including myself. So that leaves the 30-40 something crowd the were the horndogs watching it at the time. Maybe a mommy complex or something? I couldn't tell ya.
Quoted from thedefog:If liking nice boobies is a mommy complex, then mark me down for one of those.
Sounds about right. When the show was on, there were plenty of nice boobies my own age which is probably why I didn't feel the need.
Quoted from Reality_Studio:At my model house where models in their 20s fly in and stay for work, the one name every single girl knows about and recognizes when I had them there are the Elvira machines.
That right there is reason enough for me to own an Elvira pinball machine.
Quoted from thedefog:I used to watch that on Nick at Night reruns when I was a kid, and I didn't like the show, so there you go.
Well, by the time Nick at Night showed it there were plenty of other options. But the first time this five year old kid saw Jeannie in her skimpy outfit, I was hooked. And I'm sure I wasn't alone.
Quoted from Frax:I'm 36.... I still don't get it.
Well when you were young, didn't you have Clarissa?
Quoted from thedefog:We're both 36. This was prime-time for Elvira.
Would you think any less of me if I said Clarissa was prime time for me?
Quoted from Dayhuff:The brand itself is dead
Well, they resurrected Aerosmith, didn't they?
Quoted from alveolus:Humorous, campy horror is the perfect theme for pinball.
And the fact that is was popular in the 80s makes it a shoe in.
Quoted from arcademojo:Let's not forget we only had 12 channels to watch back then. And you had to watch it when it was on. Your whole evening was scheduled around the TV guide! Kids today don't know how lucky they are.
You think so?
Back then we had to wait six months for a rerun, now you get one as soon as the show is over and another 100 times thruout the week. And any cool movie that has been remade never gets shown, but the remake is on all the time.
Quoted from Walleyefisher:The good Elvira games have already been made, Stern will just cash in with another cookie cutter playfield and hope the new call outs and boring "deep ruleset" will make it popular.
Come on man! We all know Stern's Indiana Jones is right up there with the Williams original.
Quoted from Chitownpinball:Deleted post
"This post was moderated 4 hours ago: Don't announce drains or ignores"
And this is certainly a step in the right direction
Quoted from pacmanretro:I upvoted this because it sounded like sarcasm. Lol
Sometimes I don't even know if I'm being sarcastic or not.
Bring on that Joe Bob Briggs pinball machine!
I'm surprised they don't just cut to the chase and do an original Valley Girl pinball machine with Moon Unit Zappa.
Quoted from spfxted:Look at all the top games everyone wants
Who's everyone, lone ranger?
Quoted from robin:But there are a lot of ways to ask others how they feel about a theme
Like "Golden Girls, who are still into these lovely old ladies"?
I'm just trying to figure out a nice way to ask peoples opinions when it comes to currently irrelevant outdated TV personalities.
Good example.
"Who is still into this 60s TV show that pinball decided to make an affordable and complete monument to"?
The truth is "crap" shouldn't be taken as an offensive word. I believe it evolved from the word "crapper" which was the last name of Thomas Crapper who was a good plumber and engineer in his day and started his own company that sold fine plumbing fixtures.
Quoted from zr11990:People shouldn't be so easily offended anyway. Just get over it.
You have to understand, this website and hobby as it is now in general includes the most overly sensitive types in the world from all walks of life.
How something as great as pinball evolved into something like this is beyond me.
Quoted from DanQverymuch:Simple. Some hobbies attract mostly rednecks. Some, mostly nerds. Some, thrill seekers.
Pinball attracts a certain subset of all of them! So it is to be expected that there will be some level of confrontation.
Who invited these "nerds" to the party anyway?
Back in the day the rednecks and thrill seekers would have kicked their asses.
