Quoted from o-din:I'm sensing many in the over 50 crowd tuned out when it was on. Including myself. So that leaves the 30-40 something crowd the were the horndogs watching it at the time. Maybe a mommy complex or something? I couldn't tell ya.
Nah I watched soft core porn and fetish stuff on tv when I was a kid, but then again that's growing up in Montreal, Canada for you. I never did see any of Elvira's movies until a few weeks ago when I saw one on Youtube and let it play in the background. It really is more about the mix of horror and 80s nostalgia, art package, sound package and so on, to me the Elvira pins do that best.
Quoted from Frax:I think you have a fair point, but I want to say that I've played EATPM in someone's collection before. And he's an experienced collector. While the game wasn't RESTORED, I'm pretty sure he had shopped it out, replaced ramps, etc. I just don't like the game.
Well hey at least you gave it a try, that's fair enough. Better than some that crap on a game without ever even having played it.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:I find this whole thing interesting because it's a niche sequel game that appeals to a small group of pinheads - it's basically High Speed 3 or another Black Knight. There's no way this thing would be getting made if it weren't for the other two games, because let's face it, in 2017 I can't imagine there's much value in the Elvira brand itself.
The suggestions that this is going to be a small run game at a high price makes sense, as it's not a theme that's going to appeal to the masses. But as is shown here there's a small but loud group of Elvira fanatics, so it goes to follow there's a small but loud group of pinball fans who will open their wallets up for this one.
I'll say this much about the Elvira brand, and it's something I've mentioned before. At my model house where models in their 20s fly in and stay for work, the one name every single girl knows about and recognizes when I had them there are the Elvira machines. Not one girl every wondered who she was, they all knew and walked right to it. Now sure EAPTM would kick their ass and they would move to the much easier Attack From Mars but still, the point being that her brand is still after all this time very strong and recognizable. In fact some ladies live streamed themselves on Twitter playing my Scared Stiff game because they like the theme, art and brand that much.
Having said that I think you are right, they can price this one high with ease because people (like me) will open their wallets for it. Unless it sucks of course. I also like the idea of having a version of Elvira from every gen, EATPM from the old text days, SS from the DMD days and the new one from the full lcd display days. It'll look neat having them side by side.
