Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

I’ve been thinking about getting that kit. How does it compare to the other plastic protector
Kit they have listed? I couldn’t quite figure it out, other than the color

and the price difference.

Quoted from doghouse:

This happened again last night while playing. This time the spring had not only escaped the c-clip, but actually snapped. A full coil and a half snapped off the spring. I was able to stretch the spring a little and get it behind the c-clip again, but I'll need a replacement spring eventually.

My lock shot stopped responding, too. Turned out the the plug came off of the opto board.

Quoted from jandrea95:

Absolutely love this game. Hope to be in the club very soon, especially since the wife and I just had to cancel our vacation. Although not a huge Elvira fan (just never been into it) we are simply in love with the theme and how it fits our basement.

This is my first Elvira game (picked up Monday) but I have enough time on all of them to know that EHoH is by far the best.

The code, the art, the light show and the play are all top notch. There are a few things in the code I’d personally like to see enhanced slightly but, overall, this game is the total package with Lyman still doing his thing.

Here’s a stuck ball for you...just to the left of the garage. A few slaps to the cab and it rolled out.

I wish the shot up the middle to qualify the haunt was less repetitive. Maybe one up the middle to start the qualification process, the additional shots should be randomized with final shot up the middle to start the haunt.

Quoted from TigerLaw:

I’m sure their build order is always subject to change based on many factors (such as demand)...and who knows the build order now given the shutdown. If you have a strong relationship with some distributors you’ll find many frequently know what the build order plan is for some period into the future...since they are committing to product orders in advance.

Stern still has games. Mine shipped in last week from Stern.

Quoted from Robertstone0407:

This is a custom mix I do to match the Elvira green. So there’s this option. My experience with illusion purple is it will look good enough. It’s a very very dark color so for the most part short of being in direct sunlight it’ll be close to a black. This games tricky cause the interior doesn’t really reflect exterior ya know. I was honestly surprised how good the green looks
[quoted image][quoted image]

Thanks for the share. I used green for t-molding and was considering doing the armor but this may be too over the top for my taste.

Quoted from TheRudyB:

I really like that green t-moulding you used, tktlwyr. If I'm able to swing an Elvira Premium one of these days before they're all gobbled up, I'd do the same for mine, especially since it would sit near my BKSOR and that's already on maximum red.
I'm not anywhere near my games right now to ballpark it, so about how much do you actually need to do the head (I'd buy some extra; just don't want to get too much), and where did you ultimately decide to get it from given the vendors out there?

It's been a few years since I purchased it. It was originally purchased for a video game restoration.

http://www.twistedquarter.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=150

There's a 20' minimum so you're looking about $10 plus shipping from Twisted Quarter.

I own both.

I didn’t expect it to win this battle despite the fact that it IS the better game.

Too many people panned it on the early code, including myself. .93 REALLY brought this game alive!

I don't think it's for me. Looks like Scrared Stiff tacked onto House of Horrors only because it can be done.

I'm not a fan of throwing mods on just because they exist.

The second lock is triggered by the ramp opto and not the trunk unless it sneaks in from the playfield.

The magnets in EHOH must really be wreaking havoc on those balls.

#3663 3 years ago

I wasn’t a fan of the side rails released for EHOH. I thought it had too much Scared Stiff in the execution. I ended up going with the Munsters side rails.

There was a photo from one other member several month ago. I wasn’t sure about the silver cardboard backing to the rails. It just didn’t photograph as well as it could and looks much better than without the backing. The first picture is without the backing.

Quoted from noob-a-tron:

tktlwyr what is it like with the subby? My Maiden is crazy with a subby surely it can not rival that? Buying a subby for Elvira LE today.

Maiden is right next to Elvira and they both have subs. I also upgraded Elvira’s sound with the 5.25” backbox speakers and woofer that the LEs use. The sub is a nice addition and gives it the extra punch that it needs.

#3671 3 years ago
Quoted from AncasterStan:

We acquired our Elvira pin about a month ago to help break up the Covid monotony of being stuck at home. Downloaded the newest Update a few days ago and I have to say it is one of the best pinball updates I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing...wow! My only glitch that I've experienced with this pin is whacky scoring when starting the "Unhappy Hour" mode. The score goes up to the hundreds of millions within seconds whenever the ball gets bounced around the top bumpers. Curiously, this occurred regularly when we first acquired the pin but since the latest update was installed this only happens about every tenth game or so. Anyone else experience this? Could it be a sensor issue?

That's definitely a ramp opto issue that many have experienced on this game. The vibrations cause the optos to sag in their mount and move around, triggering the switch which causes the scoring problem.

The optos are in the top corner of either ramp (dim red light). Make sure the transmitter has a clear path to the receiver and that the hardware holding the optos to the ramps is tight.

Quoted from UnholySpectacle:

I’ve ordered a premium and have bought plenty of mods and plastics in preparation but I see a note regarding the stern shaker motor that says it does not work with the premium edition. Does this mean there is no shaker support for the premium at all?

Works fine. Not sure where you read this.

#3723 3 years ago
Quoted from cleanandlevel:

figured I'd post in here before calling Stern, having an issue with the garage where the Garage lock 3 opto isn't registering. is it a bad board? it will take a ball search to figure out its in there during a game which is frustrating because the mode will usually time out before it happens. thanks guys.

Did you check the opto plug under the playfield?

Speaking of mods, the tri color right lane arrow mod done by Robertstone is fantastic just kind a pain to source a tri color led board, easy of you can do basic soldiering, now I can see that arrow is lit when I need to shoot it!
[quoted image]

The way Robert did it, if you mess up soldering on the insert LED board, you could damage the board.

When I thought about doing this to my game, I decided to make a harness. The only soldering that needs to be done is the RGB board that replaces the flasher on the playfield.D53D76D9-7068-4D62-AC97-504B87A03B24 (resized).jpegD53D76D9-7068-4D62-AC97-504B87A03B24 (resized).jpeg

I did have one other person (out of over 200) suggest an issue, then never heard back (no mention of hitting the mouth though). Otherwise, all has been positive.
Welcome to send me some photos to see if the issue can be identified.

I could never sort the issue out that I was having with the gargoyle head and removed the mod. It was not firing properly across the playfield when exiting the VUK.

#6029 3 years ago
Quoted from RobertWinter:

I've always wanted to do something like this as I can *never* see whether that right loop arrow is lit and always have to lean over to check.
Did you replace the dome with a clear one?
Where did you end up sourcing the RGB LED board and harness from?
Something like this?
https://www.pinballlife.com/rgb-pcb-led-replacement-board.html

Yes and yes.

#6144 3 years ago
Quoted from freegame450:

You stated that the optos only register the first two balls. The third Opto must also register. Otherwise the machine does not know that the third ball is there. I am thinking that it is likely a faulty or misaligned opto set for the third ball.
You may have to disassemble as the previous poster has stated. Could be something as simple as a loose Opto.
For your reference, as per the manual:
Switch 39 is garage lock Opto 1
Switch 40 is garage lock Opto 2
Switch 41 is garage lock Opto 3

I’d actually check the plugs under the playfield.

Quoted from DakotaMike:

Yeah, I don't know why the hell Stern keeps releasing new titles, when there's so much pent-up demand for their existing catalog of games. Why not just push their next cornerstone off for an extra three months and freakin catch up! It would be REALLY annoying if they never got around to making more Elvira's, when it's such an amazing game, just so they could put out a new mediocre cornerstone-pin. So yeah, I really hope they actually make another run of Elvira's. Only reason I was gonna sell my Elvira was because I thought they were for sure making more in March.

There may be licensing deadlines that they need to adhere to.

Quoted from RobbyIRL5:

Any thoughts as to why the auto-plunge might be firing automatically not giving me a chance at a skill shot? I’m thinking it might have something to do with the playfield protector moving around in the shooter lane, but it’s happened a few times, on the first ball and on any subsequent ball.

If any switch other than the shooter lane switch is active, it will auto-fire and you’ll lose the skill shot.

Depends on if you close the outlanes at all. They come from the factory wide open.

#7544 3 years ago
Quoted from BallyKISS1978:

I do agree but for me it felt like mismatched parts. The Munsters was just to plain and the faux chrome doesn’t go with the cabinet for me. For me EHOH art is a bit busy but in the end I will be happier.
My daughter agreed in the end better to get the EHOH armor because it matches the cabinet better in our opinions. For me in the end I will be happier with the official side armor. I wouldn’t add Pontiac trim to a Dodge.
My OCD in the end won and I feel good about getting them. Munsters is still a great choice but in the end I had to go with Elvira’s. Medisinyl mods should arrive tomorrow. Then need to order art blades, shaker, and apron mod.

How do you mess with a guy with OCD who’s worried about mis-matched parts? You tell him wait until you notice that the end the side of the black lockdown bar hangs over the edge of the official EHOH side rails and blocks some of spider web art.

Quoted from DeathHimself:

Check the opto's alignment. Sounds like the beam is getting broken so the machine thinks a ball is there. Go into the switch test menu's and see what that switch is telling you.

Personally, I think they kind of clash with the cabinet art. The solid color blood rails work so much better. I think stock is a better look on the premium vs. these. I know what Stern was trying to do. They are obviously a throwback to Sacred Stiff but it doesn't seem to work for me.

Quoted from PinMonk:

You can know for sure if it's the node board by swapping node 8 and node 9 (be sure to change the dip switches to tell each board of its new id of 9/8 instead of 8/9). If you swap it and no change, it's not the node board. If you swap it and problem solved, it's the node board and whatever uses that connection on node 8 will now be flaky.

Unless it’s a connector with an improperly inserted pin.

The swap of the node board may mask this scenario.

#12506 1 year ago
Quoted from PinMonk:

If you swap the node board and it's still doing it (which it would with an improperly inserted connector pin), you've eliminated the node board as the issue, which is what he was looking for. Then you can look at improperly inserted pins, bad optos, mis-aligned opto interrupter, etc.

I’ll leave it at I agree to disagree with you because that statement is not necessarily true.

I first discovered the “Molex” connector problem with the Spike games on my friend’s IM. Both node boards worked after the 8/9 swap. After some time, the left sling stopped working again. Turned out to be a loose pin.

#12538 1 year ago
Quoted from pinballaddicted:

gumnut01 This is your issue. Sorry I did not see this earlier I would have let you know.

Node 9, CN9, pin 8 the black and blue wire. If the pin is fully inserted, you may have to remove it from the connector and adjust the contact or possibly replace it.

Try removing the Insider Connected MicroSD card. Does the game boot? If not, it’s probably the main SD card. Buy a quality Class 10 replacement and follow the instructions at the link below:

https://sternpinball.com/support/sd-cards/

If the game does reboot when you remove the IC MicroSD card, buy a quality Class 10 replacement and install.
