Quoted from Rdoyle1978:

Ha! Not sure who I meant. Dwight or Rick Naegle then

Catching up on posts as I patiently wait to see if Stern makes any more of these. I'm surprised this post didn't get more reaction. I'm a fan of Dwight's old games but I can't seem to get into his newest programmed titles. In addition to Rick maybe let Tim Sexton and Ray Day play with the code a bit.

Well I'm in the club officially as of Sunday. Sold of LZ (a game that gets unnecessarily crapped on) to fund a NIB Elvira I ordered probably 1 1/2 years ago.

Still trying to get the shots sorted out but loving it so far. I've got about 8 pages of forum to catch up on from all the new owners in the last month but no major issues other than the L orbit feeds to a glance off the L sling, I assume this should feed the L flipper? I'm going to check the level again but otherwise I've used a single strip of mylar on the orbit guide to fix this on other pins in the past, as opposed to trying to adjust metal.

Finally for those of you in this last batch, what's your "Born on" date? I'm March 24th. Could be fun to figure out who was the last off the line.

Quoted from Jkush18:

Thank you for this. I tried washers but maybe I need to use thicker ones to get the proper alignment. I almost wish there was an inverse of the bracket available so I could remount it properly on the right side. Seem like there's room to make that work.

check the opto right next to it. Mine was catching on the plunger just enough to cause it to hang intermittently. You can adjust the opto slightly to the L in relationship to the plunger. Don't go too much or it just fires the plunger over and over.

Quoted from Jkush18:

That's exactly what is occurring on my game. I tired to shift the opto bracket over just a bit and then the opto must have been blocked because the coil just kept firing like a ball was stuck behind the house. I'm tempted to use wood filler on the original holes and then redrill proper pilot holes and reassemble everything just about a an 1/8 of an inch to the right. I know I've been critical of having to lift the playfield up on this game more than any other game I've owned, let alone NIB, but once she's dialed in, the gameplay, shots, flow, humor, music, clips etc..it's all there and it's a really rewarding title to play just not to tinker with all the time. Thank you to all that have chimed in with solutions to try out! Side note..a Medisynal mod set is going for $750 now? Wtf..i thought I got bent over at $500.

I didn't look too closely but wouldn't it be easier to make the notch in the black ramp that the opto sits on bigger, i.e. cut it deeper? I'll have a look tonight to see if this would work.

Quoted from Jason_Jehosaphat:

Confession time:
I'm expecting a game next week and I'm worried that mine will be a mess, too. I'm almost afraid to unbox it, set it up, and play it. This is quite ironic of course as I have been stressing out for the last six weeks about missing out after ordering the game last year. I have posted here numerous times hoping for reassurance from other club members, etc. After all that sweating, all that dreading, a game is actually coming, but what kind of game will it be? Will it be better left in the box? I'm concerned.

Somebody a couple pages back mentioned pumping the brakes a bit on unboxing and immediately making adjustments which I 1000% agree with. My build was march 24th and I had to:

1. modify the L orbit, I still recommend just putting a couple strips of Mylar at the end of the orbit, not all this rubber in a rubber nonsense
2. Fix the haunt lock, adjust the plunger and possibly the opto next to it
3. Glue a gargoyle back on

That’s it, pretty simple stuff TBH. Your percentage chance of having a relatively pain free machine is way higher then a severely problematic one

Quoted from Viggin900:

Why are you here? Get lost Troll!

He’s not wrong to have that opinion. I too have yet to see what everyone here raves about on this pin. It is a very boring layout without anything terribly unique.

I keep going to tiltforums to see if I’m missing something and I’m currently watching Prides video on the pin which is very well done.

Part of me thinks I’m not good enough to see the better parts of the code but if it takes an expert to get to the good code then there’s a reasonable chance most players step away to a pin that has more early rules to explore.

It is no doubt a beauty of a pin and the callouts are great but I gotta say my eye is wandering looking for other options much faster than I thought I would.

I dunno, maybe if you guys list the typical order of play that you find entertaining that would help

Quoted from explosiveegg:

Gappa Angry is my favorite mode. Which you get to by switch hits, you can watch your progress towards it by watching the freak fryer and you can make progress towards it during multiballs. Typically, I get there around the third multiball. Make sure you're using your multiball extenders on the left outlane hand of faith to give you the multiball restarts and the add a ball on the eyeball shot in the house party multiball. Once you start getting to gappa angry semi consistently, you can work on bringing ray guns in to help you get further through gappa angry.
If you need to get further in the game, don't lose track of the extra balls. You get one for completing two dead heads and one for completing (not just playing) two modes. To help you do this, make sure you have both a mode and a dead head started before shooting for multiballs. Working on deadheads will also help you with your outlane drains. As they light the right outlane save and send the ball to the left targets to work towards hand of fate. Also try learn the modes, some are much more difficult than others. I find the bottom right window and the top left windows the easiest to complete.
Another fun thing you try to do is collect the key on the left drop bank. This will unlock the secret room, which is the righter most window. There are three modes picked at semi-random than can appear at this room.
A lot of Elvira's I've played on location are setup wrong. In that the right orbit shot feeds the ball directly to the sling (instead of the flipper) or the vertical up kicker doesn't send the ball into the target bank. Both these faults make the game a lot more difficult. The game you're playing might not be dialed in, which could make it a lot harder than it's supposed to be. From a ball time perspective. Elvira is generally an easier game.

So I moved the outlane posts down a notch (swallowed my pride admittedly) and that has helped significantly. Made it through Gappa Angry last night, I'd been there before but this was the first time I had locked all the balls, definitely a cool mode. I had to be close to completing the house but was too angry when I drained to see how far away I was. It's definitely better but I still think that the good parts of the pin are buried too far into the code.

I'm definitely happier now thanks to everyone's tips, the pin unfortunately is my first to go though if I find something more interesting.
