Received LE #202 on Monday with .80 installed. Was finally able to update code to .83 last night after trying 3 different usb sticks.

I love the game so far. The shots feel good, the art is fantastic, and the code feels like it is going in a great direction.

The only issue I have now is with the ball lock under the left ramp. The drop target goes down and registers but no other shots after that register at all. I can wiggle a screwdriver under the ramp and eventually get the opto(?) to register. Anyone else have this issue?

The only other thing that bugs me is that when the ball comes down off the left orbit it hits the left sling instead of smoothly going to the left flipper. Is this by design?

Quoted from Mad_Dog_Coin_Op:

It likely is the same problem I am having. The ball is getting hung up on the wire gate in the ball lock assembly. When this happens The game looses track of the ball and everything comes to a halt. I made a few adjustments to the gate last night but I’m afraid I’ll have to revisit the issue. It is a slow shot to the ball lock that causes the problem. A fast shot powers through the wire gate without issue.

Mine is a different problem I believe, as the ball is not getting stuck at all-- it passes through freely but does not register the shot. I left a message for Chas at Stern today, and hoping to get some guidance from him or someone here that understands what is happening. I believe there is an opto under the ramp, but I do not know how to get to it, and the service menu does not appear to have the option to test this switch.

An update and FYI to others that may have this issue: My genius pinball-tech brother wisefwumyogwave came over last night and found the problem in 5 minutes and easily fixed it. The spring on the up-post below the left ramp had escaped the c-clip that pushes the post upwards when the coil engages, and by simply reseating the spring again below the c-clip he fixed the problem. The post goes up and holds the ball for a moment when the ball goes into the space behind the drop target. In that moment the ball makes an opto which registers as a lock. Pre-fix the post wasn't going up high enough to stop the ball, and the ball was never hitting the opto which registered the lock.

This happened again last night while playing. This time the spring had not only escaped the c-clip, but actually snapped. A full coil and a half snapped off the spring. I was able to stretch the spring a little and get it behind the c-clip again, but I'll need a replacement spring eventually.

Quoted from bloodydrake:

I did notice the finish is all cracked off the playfield in the ball launch area..basically where the game ejects it to the plunger. Should be worried? Or is that just considered normal wear(first time pinball table owner).
I'll be honest after 4 days of play i wasn't expecting that LOL.

Mine is the same as yours, but unfortunately I didn't notice it until it looked like this after 500 plays. I just bought one of those clear trough protectors, and I really don't notice it anymore. Cheap clear and soft wood. Disappointing.

At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t even want the first one back.

Oh, they are going to want it back, I promise you that.

Here's an annoying bug that I've seen a few times:

During a Haunt mode I start Junk In The Trunk multi-ball and I lose the ability to complete the Haunt. The lit shots for the Haunt seem to disappear almost as soon as I start Trunk. I believe the last time this happened I was playing "The Brain That Wouldn’t Die," but can't swear to it.

Anyone experience this?

#3683 3 years ago
Quoted from SKWilson:

I know the haunt shots disappear during the multiball intros, but they return when they're over (or blown off).
Is it possible you needed a shot on the right orbit, but didn't see it?

It is possible that I didn't see the right orbit, but this has happened to me a few times on different haunts. Close to finishing a haunt, get trunk multi-ball, the last few lit shots for the haunt disappear and don't reappear even with trunk multi-ball is over. Result being that a haunt I was close to finishing is now over with without giving an opportunity to complete it. Hard to believe no one else has seen this?

Yes, this happened. Flipper started getting floppy and wouldn't hold in up position. The famous Stern junk coil stop plug had just popped right out. Or disintegrated. No where to be found inside the machine. Gone. So much for Chinese quality manufacturing....

I reported to Stern and Chas is sending me a couple new ones, but I just went ahead and ordered a bunch from Steve Young today. He told me that the ones he sells are his own "brand" that he's had tooled and made for him.

I emailed Chas back saying "Hope you guys are running low on this bad batch." His response: "I hope we are also!"

First!
The screen mod is awesome. Very well integrated, the instructions are clear and I didn’t have any issues with installation.
It’s definitely one of those totally unnecessary but absolutely cool mods. I really like it!

Looks cool. Who sells and and does it comes with the film clips/trailers?

Quoted from John_Revelator:

Thank you Doghouse. I have the same problem as you had. Next week my new pair of magnetic screwdrivers will be there to start fixing the problem. Well, I need to remove the house first I guess?

Nope, you can access everything from below the playfield.
