I recently took delivery of a Signature Elvira. Good game but I've had heaps of issues with the machine. I think I'm down to the last issue which is the ball constantly flying off the left ramp. The trunk lid seems really poorly made and is really loose. I can't seem to find a way to tighten it as when the ball hits it, it comes flying off. I've ordered some plastic to cover the ramp but that's a few weeks out. Any tips on what I can do please?

trunk has screws behind it, should tighten right up and have no issues.

If the upper portion of the ramp before the trunk is a little lower than the trunk lid then it will cause air balls. It was enough of a problem that pinball life made a little spacer to raise the ramp to prevent it. You could also use washers to get the same result.

Anyone have an issue with the Crypt Kicker not shooting the ball out randomly? It will try but it just won't make it out, or it will, but it will just dribble straight down the middle. I guess I can try increasing the coil strength, but it doesn't always do it.

edit: Is this what post #2518 fixes?

VUK issue is well known. Check post 4107 for location of moving your VUK and check out hurryup pinballs YouTube page for how to grind down the VUK plunger for a more consistent shot.

given all the vuk issues, how come no one has made a funnel that fits between the subway and the plunger to centre the ball? thought one of the 3d printer mod guys would be on this.

The Stern "fix" worked PERFECT for me. It is terrifying to some drilling holes in your playfield which I understand. Check out post 3199 by Rob_G . In this post he shows how to move the vuk temporarily without drilling so you can test the vuk to make sure the new location will work consistently.

If you proceed with drilling the new holes get something like this if you dont already have it https://www.homedepot.com/p/General-Tools-Drill-Stop-Set-7-Piece-S838/100176201 .

Its a MUST to ensure you dont drill all the way through your playfield, haha. Either way, yeah the vuk is an issue for countless people, but it is fixable.

I used some contact cement I had laying around. Any type of glue or adhesive should work, though.

Just use one smaller than the screw shaft (not thread) diameter.

Get a SWAG measurement of the screw plus plate then put a piece of masking tape on your drill bit to make sure it doesn't go too far. Or do what a lot of guys do and just screw it straight in without pilot holes.

I eventually had to use heavy duty plastic glue to keep one of mine together; I couldn’t tell if he came from the factory with any glue or if it’s just held in by friction, but he would fly off every 3rd hit until I tried some really strong glue.

You can also test it this way:

This "temporary" fix was done back in January in an on location machine and has been working great as the ball hits the bank targets 100% of the time. You will also want to reduce power to the VUK from 255 to somewhere around 160 - 180 to get some variation on which bank target the ball hits.

Does the action button do anything besides wheel of fate and finishing off deadheads?

Also, do the junk items in the trunk do anything. I thought I read at some point they help with some modes. I'm not seeing visual cues indicating this, but I could certainly be missing them as I play.

The dagger and ray gun items eventually are supposed to have some sort of powers

The ray gun works now. The action button will flash the color of shot you can collect with it.

Skeleton key: unlocks the far right window of the house to start Santa Claus vs. The Martians, The Giant Gila Monster, and The Satanic Rites of Dracula modes

Lab Test: increases jackpots in multiball modes

Atomic Raygun:(using the action button) can count as a hit on deadheads, score a jackpot during multiball, complete a shot during a mode, some things you can turn on and off in the settings

Dagger: as far as I know doesn't do anything yet

They turn the artwork red. Not attractive.
They are a PITA to install.
One piece I removed because it changed the height of the ramp after the trunk causing air balls.

You're better off just getting a set for the slings/outlanes.

Does anyone notice light coming through the top of the deadhead cellar where the 2 plastic pieces of the roof connect? I feel like i didn’t notice that prior to this week and im wondering if something shifted or if it was always like that.

True...colored plastic protectors need to be the "cut-out" versions otherwise they ruin the original plastic artwork by bleeding the color through.

You can unscrew one half of the roof inner side might be best, run a strip of black tape down the center half on the mounted piece, now bring the other half over and mount the tape to that half then re screw the roof back down.

Yes, the game definitely has a limited timer now upon plunge and certain modes where it will give you the back door bonus if you shoot the left orbit.

Here is the link to the ones I make for Elvira. Just the slings and return lanes. The red is dark so they are cut out for the light to shine through. Yep and we're still at 0.98. I have to say it might even top MET along with the fore mentioned, and all of those machines are awesome. This game is truly a gem.

LOL...yeah, I know...those are the ones I have...great product! I have the Blood version, they integrate well with the theme and appear factory. To be honest, I think any colored plastic protector is more about adding an additional splash of color vs actually protecting the plastic...which, I am all for. Nice job on your protectors!

Anyone else having problem with crypt door not opening after deadhead is floating on screen. I hit the skull and register bonus points but once the skull rotates to the door no matter how many times i hit the door it will not open. Im running 98 code
