Yes Macca it is right up there mate, JP2 next maybe.
I put some of my secret spinner sauce (Brain lube don't tell anybody) on the beast booster spinner and now I'm clearing 6M per rip at the end of the TFOS. God it is satisfying though perhaps creating a tad of imbalance. I mostly just wanted to say that opto spinners are one of the best things Stern has done in recent years. It just keeps going.
Note: If you choose to do this put a super small amount on a q-tip, apply to spinner shaft, work the spinner around and left / right, then clean up any excess with the dry side of the Q-tip. Don't slop it on.
Quoted from Chalkey:The colors are really subtle. I often have a hard time telling the difference. Or at least figuring out which one to shoot to do what I want to do before the ball is already on its way there.
Am I the only one who is bothered by the fact that the different timers disappear depending on what's going on?
Yeah. I wish the timers for the peripheral modes were always visible. Maybe they could be shown on the right side of the UI.
Yeah they have plenty of screen. I hope they display them SOMEWHERE or get all TSPP with it and have everything run off of one timer.
There's so much still to go with this game it gets me really excited. Entire modes not even in code yet, the stuff in the trunk, it just keeps getting better. It always sucks waiting for updates but in a way it's kind of fun learning the code as it develops.
Quoted from jfh:Welcome!
Is the game new or from someone that will regret the sale?
It's new, for me who will regret the price tag

I was thinking pinstadium but now thinking it will take the horror theme away to bright maybe? Anyone done it?
Quoted from noob-a-tron:I was thinking pinstadium but now thinking it will take the horror theme away to bright maybe? Anyone done it?
It is a bright and cheerful playfield, so I don't think that pinstadiums would take anything away from the theme.
Yeah I really love the Manos: Hands of Fate mode. It's probably my favourite. It's got such a great narrative (which is the opposite of the actual movie I hear!) where you arrive, then Debbie goes missing, then all hell breaks loose and you have wives fighting each other and all other weird stuff going on. It's a challenging mode to complete too so it makes it super satisfying when you do.
I love the new ending they've put into it as of the latest code update. It ties it all together and ends on a perfect note. Absolutely love it. A very subtle change that makes a huge difference. What a coding masterpiece this game is.
Quoted from Lrrr:It is a bright and cheerful playfield, so I don't think that pinstadiums would take anything away from the theme.
I do not recommend the super dlux 6 trigger pin stadium. The basic multi color with uv is awesome. Less is more. Dialing in the reds and purples really makes the playfield pop. UV to the crypt kicker.
A follow-up to moving the right orbit ball guide. I needed a solution for the protruding edge of the rail as seen in pic1. I picked up a b/w post rubber as suggested by @pinballaddicted. This was better, but still left a fair bit of the metal protruding. I ended up stretching the new rubber over the existing one, and got the result seen in pic2. Still has a lttle bit of taper.(Slow news day)

The translite and apron have a few purple accents. The cabinet, though, only has red, green and black, so the purple stands out a bit from the side.
Anyway, I didn’t want a row of red games, so Elvira got the purple treatment.

Thanks for sharing. We are going to adjust that ball guide as well. Great idea!

20200222_201913 (resized).jpgElvira wouldn’t power on tonight for me. No lights no screen nada. Looks like no VA or VNB lights on the node board which is what I’m guessing my problem is? Anyone have any tips to troubleshoot? Thanks in advance!

I logged a ticket months ago that one of my Gargoyle lamps is always dark. No response since, although I did get help and the replacement skill shot parts.

Had the same thing. Had to reflash the memory onto the SD card. Worked fine after that.

Sometimes re-seating the SD card also works.

Stern have purchased some really shit SD cards. As extendo had stated, try reseating the one you have. If that does not work, buy a good quality SD card and flash a new card. This has happened to us and plenty of other people.
2 out of 7 Spike games with a faulty SD card for us.

That purple is stunning, love it
Got to House Party no idea what i am doing but got 244million on it so next will try and work out what i am supposed to do. So much fun i love it!!!
This is what I get. Playfield only being supported by right side playfield rail. Three of the six playfield rail bolts MISSING!, 4 of the six nuts missing. The playfield was twisted, god knows for how long, now ramp will not go down unless you push it. Terit will not spin I’m test mode , speaker got bashed in by playfield, ramp scratches by left side of cabinet, speaker now sounds terrible, playfield white wood sides bashed, and I am sure the playfield clear coat has been compromised by the twisting I’m beyond angry

Thanks to all who posted regarding my no power issue tracing back to the SD card. Grabbed a new card today and put sterns latest image on it via their instructions. Game is now functional again!

That looks fantastic!!
Ouch Sebastian88 - your distro (or Stern) better replace that entire game. That's just beyond awful.
Quoted from jfh:sebastian88 - I hope your are working with your dealer to get that replaced with an entirely new game.
I am. Requesting one by Friday However they have to get it even if Stern hast to send it from another distributor. Otherwise they can refund my money I’ll buy it from another distributor And I’ll send this one back in that box
Quoted from Mar:Ouch sebastian88 - your distro (or Stern) better replace that entire game. That's just beyond awful.
I appreciate your support. It’s not my distributors fault and he knows it but I told him that Stern should send me a new game however they have to get it by the end of next week or I want my money back.
Trent dropped this off the other day, been busy being amazed. Im still somewhat early into this pinball scene (1 year). What was going to be a single pin collection of Metallica, is now a 3 pin collection, and a virtual pin. That said ive been to many amazing barcades over the past year, and Elvira is (by far) my favorite pin ive ever played. Incredible work.

Stern isn't even open, so I don't see how this is possible.

Simple, refund my money. I purchase one that is available(found one from another distributor) and I ship this one back to whom ever in that box. I bought this one from sterns biggest distributor. They can make it happen. JJ has all the contacts at stern. So get it done. This week. Not two months from now This is bull crap. This happened in Sterns factory.

They’re shipping what they have in stock.
Quoted from tktlwyr:They’re shipping what they have in stock.
I’m sure they can find one someway somehow and get a replacement shipped to me. It’s flat out ridiculous the way this thing came in the box. Was total negligence and lack of quality control at Stern. These are not cheap. Node board, ball trough opto, power supply issues, topper issues....All out of the box I get it but to be missing the bolts that hold the side rails that support the playfield that’s absolutely ridiculous three of the six we’re missing and four bolts of the three I had were missing

Hopefully this will be sorted for you soon. I can not imagine how disappointed you must be.
I wish you well.

I did not realize you got this from JJ. I would feel in good hands with GEX and would be very surprised if they can’t get a successful resolution for you.
It’s also possible that this happened during shipping though it doesn’t really matter. Short of unpacking it with the delivery driver there you probably couldn’t have anticipated such damage (presuming the box didn’t show any signs of damage/distress).
Having bought quite a few NIB games, I can understand how disappointing this experience must have been. Keep us posted. And sorry your welcome to the club wasn’t what you expected.

Lol! Do you know how many get started in this hobby insisting they will only have one game?
It’s like trying to eat just one potato chip.
When I started, I was adamant we would never have more than one. At one point, we had over 50 and we’re down to about 1/2 that. It’s very possible Elvira may be our last game but the only time I’ll be down to one game is when my estate is selling them off after I’m dead
Quoted from pinballaddicted:Hopefully this will be sorted for you soon. I can not imagine how disappointed you must be.

That’s very nice of you. Beyond disappointed it’s unplayable because of the ramp not going down, so it’s just sitting there. So much money spent on these games/ I’m afraid I go used from now on/ at least I will know it works

Please let us know how it all turns out for you. You will feel better after a few days and you slowly get this sorted.
Good luck.

Impossible it happened during shipping/ bow was perfect....Let me clarify.... 3 bolts that support the rail for which the playfield rests on were gone/ not even in the box or game. 4 nuts gone/ not in the game. The left rail was in the bottom of the game So ..... three bolts totally missing 4 nuts missing. Unless the shippers opened up the box took the bolts and nuts out of the rails that support the playfield etc. etc. etc. So another words this happened on the assembly line it’s just absolute carelessness
I’m not angry at you if it had happened in shipping I could understand this happened at Stearns factory and that’s what angers me so much. These games are so damn expensive and they shouldn’t be. It’s the equivalent of getting a car and your wheels falling off because of no Lugnuts or bolts.
I've got a question about the right ramp optos. I've had the out of control scoring some others have had and tightening the optos fixed it. But, now the right ramp sometimes scores 2 or 3 times when I hit it. It seems like it scores normally, then when the ball hits the bottom of the ramp it flexes slightly causing the extra scoring.
Is this just an alignment issue? Are they that sensitive? Or is it just from the slight movement in the ramp itself and just something I'll have to live with? I'm a first time pin owner, so still learning. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like another loose optical sensor to me. The optical boards need snugged down in perfect sight of each other. Any variation will likely cause the symptoms you’re seeing. There also might be debris on the sensor. Be sure to check that also.

Same thing happened to me... and it also started a year ago with Metallica as my one and only pin, then Iron Maiden Prem somehow showed up, and as of just recently, Elvira LE. At first, all the "tweaking" and NIB repairs were a little frustrating but I later came to realize that they just make me appreciate the games that much more. It turns out that tinkering, upgrading, and repairing is half the fun... and of course, there's the anticipation of what the next release will look like and if I can sell it to my wife as another "must have".

Every game needs tweaks. New, old, NIB or HUO. Glad you figured out you enjoy it! Just beware - you can have weeks (or more!) where there are multiple issues on multiple games - and you just don't feel like working on ANYTHING. Then you get one thing fixed and it will snowball...
