Quoted from John1210:I agree Elvira shoots really well as does Bksor and JP... I’ve tried to like stranger things... it’s ok, I mean it’s pinball so I’m going to like it but it ain’t the best. Whatever you do don’t critique it over on the st owners thread, they are a bit touchy over there about their game... some of it stemming from buyers remorse i suspect.
I actually like the idea behind Stranger Things.
I don't care at all about the theme. In fact I kind of hate kids saving the day type films. Kids are kids and for every goonies or Short Round there are dozens of movies or kid characters that bog down the original film franchises.
The projector idea is really great for Stranger Things. Amazing idea, works great(seems to from the streams) in bright rooms, so would work even better in the dark. I like the monster mech(pity its not as accurate as you'd hope it would be), and I think the magnetic ball lock is an amazing and cool feature. I hear some people hate how the game shoots. I find that hard to believe as its a Brian Eddy. And maybe it is a bit of a clunk, but I am not really that big of a pinball snob. If it has flippers and you can shoot it, you probably can have a good amount of fun with it... The callouts though... Man, some of the worst in pinball. But, decent clips and animation. Monsters are cool.
What I don't like is the greed of Stern and it is GREED! The UV light should have been as an LE. If you don't want it on the PREM fine. But, for the LE owners that should have been included. And if Stern is too interested in cranking out games and not finishing them, or pulling this kind of stunts. I'm going to re-think my support of them. And it should have been an option for the Pro and Prem buyers to have installed as an extra. Really no reason why it couldn't have been revealed, during the FIRST and ACTUAL REVEAL! If anything it probably cost them sales dragging their feet on it. Get your ducks in a row and then reveal.
I don't mind waiting for the code to get to 1.0. Yes, I would prefer more complete code. But, not even video games ship with complete code now. It doesn't make it right, but to wish it away, won't solve anything. Yes, I would prefer more substance and more skeleton, but some games Stern has shipped are more complete starting out than others.
I'm not happy as I stated that I had to replace my rails in my Elvira. For LE's to be first on the line doesn't make that much sense to me. I think they should be after everything gets sorted out. Then you run them. Anyway.
The likelihood of me buying a new Stern game again, is slim. Iron Maiden was a dream theme for me. Elvira another dream theme, and I doubt Stern will have another dream theme for me. The only way is if they do a vault on the prem of Ghostbusters. Or if I can find a nice NIB Catwoman Batman 66. But, I tihnk I'd be buying those used.
Imagine what you could do with an Elvira theme with that projector. Could have lots of fun with that concept. I'd project clips to the screen. While having Elvira still on the LCD. And actually... The LCD for the prem and LE are strangely devoid of content. Very sparse. The game just lacks energy. I get they might not want to double up what is projected and what is on the LCD. But, there are ways to keep them both busy and not overload the player. Having LCD sparse takes away energy... Anyway...
Back to the hostess with the mostest... Is it too late to dream about the 4th Elvira game???? I know the code isn't completed with this one, but it will be, and it will be AMAZING. So one can dream about a 4th game(can't he??).
