It's a challenge to bring the community of Elvira owners together. We have to come together as a group and assemble the instructions before... I dont know... Gary Stern uses his evil powers to make our playfields all fall apart?

#1852 4 years ago
Quoted from MountZion:

Thank you for this. That's funny though that you were missing pages 1 and 2, because they only send me page 8 of the instructions and nothing else.

PAGE 8?!?!? I only have pages 3 and 4. What's on page 8? For that matter, what the heck is on pages 5-7!?!? What are we missing? I think Imma start drinking again.

#1853 4 years ago

Page 12 says "here be treasure" and has half of a map.

#1854 4 years ago

The other half of the map with the X is on page 13 and at that location we will find the passphrase to email Lyman Sheats to get him to publish the next code update.

Haha Minor correction - I was only given page 7 - describing Step 8: How to install the turret on top of the house.
Drinking does sound great though.

Quoted from Chalkey:

Just got my cliffy set installed. Easier than advertised. Instead of removing the whole house you can actually sneak the cellar protector in from the bottom. Thanks to pinsider Peanuts for leading the charge. I did the same set with both sides of the shooter lane, trough, garage drop, cellar vuk, and crypt protectors. Cliffies are the best mods in pinball!
Bonus shot of all clear titans.

All ready for the NEXT CODE UPDATE some sunny day!

I love using Cliffys. He makes a great product. I am concerned about the one on your drop target. That creates a rear facing edge which Cliffy doesn't recommend. That is such a sensitive area. Are you having issues with ball hang ups with the Cliffy installed there?

#1857 4 years ago

Have not had the first problem over a small test sample of 10-15 games, but if it was going to be a problem there I think the 1/8" gap behind the drop would have caused an issue already

Hi there, glad to join the Elvira-club. Tomorrow my LE will arrive, I bought it from my friend. Let's get the pinballparty started !

#1860 4 years ago

That's everything, if you were so inclined I think there are 8 switch slots you could use the metal protectors for but none of them have ball drops on them or anything. I do worry a little about the slot under the trunk but if that gets blown out at least nobody will ever see it! It'd have to be something new from cliffy as it has that 45 degree offshoot for the vertical opto in front.

Oddly enough the single drop protectors are for the crypt and cellar, the single drop needs the narrow protector.

New code:

V0.90.0 - Feb. 6, 2020
======================

- Allow HAND OF FATE SPIN to run from the LEFT OUTLANE switch (when lit)
while all BALL SAVERS are active.
- BALL SAVE from HAND OF FATE is eaten if BALL SAVE is awarded when the
wheel is activated.
- The LEFT OUTLANE lamp was remaining ON after the HAND OF FATE wheel was
started (it should be turned OFF once the wheel comes up). This has
been corrected.
- When starting GAPPA ANGRY a second time, the FREAK FRYER feature will
not be started unless the player completes at least 1 level (i.e. locks
at least 1 ball).
- Points are now awarded for DIRECTOR'S CUT and the mode stops immediately.
- Locking a ball in the GARAGE with balls already locked would not wait for
the BALL LOCKED effect to finish before trying to kick. This has been
corrected.
- Added a new mode for collecting all of the awards on the HAND OF FATE
wheel: MANOS WHEEL
- Runs until the RIGHT TARGET BANK is hit one time, or the JACKPOT is
collected. (This feature can run from ball to ball as long as none
of the right 3-bank targets are hit).
- A mini-wheel with MANOS is displayed in the lower right portion of the
display. This wheel always spins.
- The following point awards are available:
250K, 500K, 750K, 1M, 2M, 5M
- Hitting any target on the RIGHT TARGET BANK awards the points being
pointed to on the wheel.
- The points that are awarded from the wheel are added to a JACKPOT
that is lit after the first hit on the targets. The JACKPOT can be
collected on the LEFT OUTLANE (SPIN).
- Removed a color effect that turned player scores black when there was no
match.
- Rework GAPPA ANGRY mode:
- New display effects, sound effects, light shows.
- Single ball mode.
- Build JACKPOT throughout.
- Stage 1: make the HOUSE RAMP, then lock a ball in the HOUSE LOCK.
- Stage 2: make the LEFT and RIGHT ramps, then lock a ball in the
GARAGE.
- Stage 3: make the LEFT LOOP, the HOUSE RAMP, and the RIGHT LOOP,
then lock a ball in the CRYPT.
- Stage 4: make the LEFT RAMP, the HOUSE RAMP, the RIGHT RAMP, and
the CRYPT, then lock a ball in the TRUNK.
- Stage 5: make the LEFT LOOP, the LEFT RAMP, the HOUSE RAMP, the
RIGHT RAMP, and the RIGHT LOOP, then lock a ball in the GARAGE.
- Stage 6: lock a ball in the CELLAR.
- If draining after stage 1, POOL PARTY is started with the 1 ball
that was locked in the HOUSE LOCK.
- If draining after stage 2, DANCE FEVER is started with the 2 balls
that were locked in the HOUSE LOCK and the GARAGE.
- If draining after stage 3, MAKE-OUT MAYHEM is started with the 3
balls that were locked in the HOUSE LOCK, the GARAGE, and the CRYPT.
- If draining after stage 4, SCREAM TEST is started with the 4 balls
that were locked in the HOUSE LOCK, the GARAGE, the CRYPT, and the
TRUNK.
- If draining after stage 5, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE is started with the 5
balls that were locked in the HOUSE LOCK, the GARAGE, the CRYPT, the
TRUNK, and the GARAGE.
- Completing all stages (6) starts GAPPA ANGRY MULTIBALL (6 balls).
- Added new mode: POOL PARTY
- Started from GAPPA ANGRY!
- Single ball mode.
- 20 bumper hits scores JACKPOT value from GAPPA ANGRY!
- Lasts until the end of the ball.
- Added new mode: DANCE FEVER
- Started from GAPPA ANGRY!
- 2-ball multiball.

JACKPOT value from GAPPA ANGRY!
- Added new mode: MAKE-OUT MAYHEM
- Started from GAPPA ANGRY!
- 3-ball multiball.
- LEFT RAMP, HOUSE RAMP, and CRYPT lit for JACKPOT value from
GAPPA ANGRY!
- Added new mode: SCREAM TEST
- Started from GAPPA ANGRY!
- 4-ball multiball.
- LEFT RAMP, HOUSE RAMP, RIGHT RAMP, and CRYPT lit.
- One shot (random) scores multiplied JACKPOT value from GAPPA
ANGRY!
- Other 3 shots multiply the multiplier by 2.
- Shots go out at you shoot them and reset when the JACKPOT is
scored.
- Multiplier is reset to 1x when JACKPOT is scored.
- Added new mode: RUN FOR YOUR LIFE
- Started from GAPPA ANGRY!
- 5-ball multiball.
- LEFT LOOP, LEFT RAMP, HOUSE RAMP, RIGHT RAMP, and RIGHT LOOP
lit for JACKPOT value from GAPPA ANGRY!
- Last shot made cannot be made again until a different shot is
made.
- Fixed an issue with showing the LOCKDOWN BUTTON light color for HSTD.
The button was showing green (instead of white) when initials could be
entered. It was also showing green (instead of black) during the
announce and award display effects when initials could not be entered.
- UN HAPPY HOUR start was not displaying the points for starting the mode
(shown as 00 sometimes). This has been corrected.

the mode it is used for.
- Added "FIND A BODY" stage to THE BRIAN THAT WOULDN'T DIE:

correctly (raise ramp, kickout warning effect, kick, in that order).
- Disable CRYPT ADVANCE and AWARDS during GAPPA ANGRY.
- Kill start display effects when an award for a mode/multiball is given.
- Rework GARAGE multiball start lamp effects. Mask most lamps at start of
GARAGE multiballs so JACKPOT lights are visible.
- Remove DIRECTOR'S CUT display/choreography. This display was breaking
up the HAUNT final shot/Elvira outro and didn't flow well.
- Lowered FREAK FRYER increment number of switch hits from 50 to 25 (per
level), which should make getting to GAPPA ANGRY! slightly easier.
- Added new art and sounds for TRUNK MULTIBALL start.
- Fixed up ADD-A-ZOMBIE multiball super jackpot video clips and award
sounds.
- Added lots of shaker motor effects.

mode.
- Added TILT video playback functionality for the SANTA CLAUS mode.

The turret on my house is slightly crooked. How do I adjust it?

Yeah. I gave up on trying to get it aligned. It just resets itself.

Holy crap! What an update! I might just run out of exclamation points just talking about it!!!!!!!

So much cool crap. And we're in the 90s... So its the game is really coming along. Got another dead head. Gappa sounds like an amazing mode, and it sounds like the farther you go, the more rewards you'll get, but you'll still get something so long as you lock a ball.
This is just an amazing update. I was expecting a big one, but only about something half this size.

WOW... Still a long way to go till the game is completed. Still no phone a friend or the other non skeleton key items. But, hey... WHAT AN UPDATE!!!!!(and now I have ran out of exclamation points)

Edit... Looks like we got our ball saver. That is cool.

I’m downloading now, is the house turret active in this update?

#1873 4 years ago

Woah, just finished playing thinking this game is so much f ing fun!!!!

Loading the update manana

#1874 4 years ago

I’m having BM66 flashbacks but this shot layout and theme integration is even better

#1875 4 years ago

Damn, there goes another 7 grand, In Lyman I Trust!

Super exclusive ad from the Pinside Marketplace!

I haven’t noticed action from the turret so far. Another thing I noticed is I’ve hit the skill shot a few times and haven’t herd the call outs from previous code...actually I haven’t herd any??

#1877 4 years ago

Holy mother of... just installed and got to Gappa for the first time. The mode itself is a blast, so much fun going through all the levels... better than most wizard modes I’ve ever made it to and it’s not even the wizard mode!

It’s totally brilliant that you play through until you drain and then one of several completely different OTHER modes starts depending on how far you progress. Made it to stage 4 I think?

Everything feels way more polished... lights, choreography... felt great to go for deadheads knowing the ball would be saved if it shot into the left outlane.

Can somebody with a shaker chime in and let us know if it’s worth having now?

Great job Lyman, this is an absolutely wonderful update with some killer unexpected content!

Yeah well, money well spent

#1879 4 years ago

There is a lot going on but it needs tuned. The new dead head is a hot mess. I expect another update soon to fix the problems this one created. The game kicked out 2 balls on me a couple times.

#1880 4 years ago

What's wrong with the new dead head? I won't get to put any time in til tomorrow

#1882 4 years ago

Ok...what is single ball mode?

Also figures this would be dropped when I am out of town.

#1883 4 years ago

You guys are making this difficult.

I'm glad you made it to Gappa Angry. I just live streamed for an hour and couldn't do shit. Performance anxiety, I guess. LOL

The new ball lock choreography is excellent.
The new intros to the Garage multiballs is excellent.
THERE IS A WHOLE LOTTA SHAKIN' GOIN' ON! Holy crap! Did they add some shaker code, or what!?!?! On one shot it rattled my backglass. (I changed the setting back to maximal.)

Did have to go back and re-do adjustments: Free play, ball-to-ball carry overs, etc...

Excellent update.

I noticed this, too. I don't think I heard one call out upon hitting the back door. I did notice it seems the Back Door is worth a lot more. First shot was worth 1.5M; next shot(?) was worth 2.25M.

You guys are making this difficult.

It is Lyman... What did you think would happen?

Quoted from SKWilson:

I left work early. I cannot wait to try the new code out.

I thought I could be strong and not spend $15K on another game I cant fit in my game room.

Because to fit it I would have to sell one of 2 other Lyman games.

The $15,5K hurt, I am still complaining about it.

We do not have a games room, our machines are our dining room, lounge room and part of the kitchen. Priorities! My wife's house plan below!

I definitely miss hearing the all the back door call outs. Hopefully just a code polish is needed and they didn’t cut them out completely.

You know how practically every time Stern announces a game, there a number of people who poo-poo all over it? "The playfield is bare." "The artwork sucks." "Where are the mechs?" "There are no toys." Well. This game, and the way the code is progressing, is sheer brilliance. The playfield may be open, but it is not bare. The artwork is beautiful; including the little touches that you don't see from the player's perspective. (Have you looked at the back of the house?) There are two very awesome toys: the house and the crypt. And! Not only does this game have two physical ball locks (How many recent games even have physical ball locks?), but it has FIVE PLACES IT CAN LOCK A BALL! This new code highlights this awesome feature. During Gappa Angry!, at the end of each level, you lock a ball in a different spot: house, garage, crypt, trunk, cellar. And all the lighting effects! The new lock lighting! The lighting during Gappa Angry! The speech! The video on the UI! The new text colors on the UI! I even like the alligator! Every time we get a code update, I fall even more in love with this machine! This new code is brilliant! This game is brilliant! I feel sorry for the naysayers who turned their collective noses up at this game in the beginning. They will never know the joy! I, for one, am so glad I made the decision to buy this game three years ago when I first heard about it. Please pardon my language, but THIS GAME IS FUCKING AWESOME!

Just wanted to share my 2 cents.

Game rocks and I want all the back door skill shot comments back in the code..

If people do not like things in the code, just ask for adult mode to be added. Keeps everybody happy.

I have emailed Stern already and asked for the back door comments to be put back in under adult mode. This will not offend anyone

I was watching a video of someone playing the new code and he mentioned he put in guide rails to help with the backdoor skill shot.

Where can you get those? Are they easy to install/remove?

You have to ask to Stern ([email protected]).
The house needs to be removed (6 screws and a few connectors). It could be done under an hour.

Been watching some streams of this game tonight and now after hearing about this new update I’m 99.9% sure this will be my next game. Its a dream theme for me and the game imo looks to be as good as JP. This game is not bare at all like people say and it has a lot going on with the haunted house, the crypt, and all of the ball locks. This game is loaded!

The only negative to this game is its just not a theme that everyone likes, but for those who do like the theme there is a lot to love about this game.

Is this more than the one piece that was missing?

The kit contains these two guides (picture courtesy @SKWilson) replacing the two existing ones.

Cool thanks. Who was the streamer that talked about it.
