Building this was fun.....installing it resulted in a lot of 'colorful language'. :p

He ended up selling 9 of them for $1,400.00

He sold 3 at $1100, 2 at $1200, 3 at $1400 and 1 at $1700. Crazy!

#7453 3 years ago

Well, this bastard finally finished!

Not sure if I even notice the “ultra” detail but I will say there are almost no visible layer lines unless you get RIGHT up close. I have some minor sanding to do because a couple of the supports failed but I think it actually came out pretty good. Worth the 60 hour print? No way!

When you spray them gray and then black-wash them, you'll never notice any of those small things plus it will look more authentic like stone figures

Cool! I have some stone effect spray paint, I may use that as a base coat. I still have some black wash from when I did a couple of POTC mods, so this is going to come out nice!

Actually, looking at this closer, it's a *lot* nicer than a lot of the parts I printed for my R2D2.. I may have to re-do those.

Did you build with base structure supports? I have to give them another attempt, mine came out horrible

Quoted from DeathHimself:

I added a brim, because I didn't know how stable the feet were (probably would have been fine), then also added supports to the base, yes. I don't think it really needed them - MAYBE the face, but the supports for the wings all broke off before it even got up there. I think the fact that it printed SO slowly helped the structure though. 20% infill.

I'm printing a second one now (15 hours) and it's only about an hour in so I can't see any detail yet but it's basically printing the same exact setup.

He ended up selling 9 of them for $1,400.00!! Luckily I purchased before the $400.00 price increase!! Looks like he sold out of them.

There was not a $400 price increase. He is just marking them up for a profit.

Tried to print in black but had filament spool issues - really wanted to see how it would turn out so printed it in translucent- still needs some sanding etc

Anyone know who does the mod for the scoop that shoots across the playfield to hit trunk stand ups? Without having to go through whole thread!

#7461 3 years ago
Quoted from cooked71:

Who from? Did you order recently?

I ordered from nitro pinball on March 1st. They were getting 3 of them. Sold out last week I believe. Paid $999 plus $54 shipping.

Do you mean the fix, or the gargoyle that sits on top of it? That's done by Medisinyl

A hefty one at that.

If you mean my gargoyle/casket mod, the thread is linked below, but the waitlist is still fairly long. Just shipped run #19, and new interest would make it into run #23 or #24. Getting through stuff quicker now though (hired some help last month), so hopefully not too long of a wait at the back end (though I do have to juggle it with my other backlogs).

A PM will get you on the list.

Are there any third party toppers for this machine? Not spending a grand on the Stern one but still want a decent one.

I am not a topper guy, basement only 7’ tall ceilings plus just not my gig but these hologram toppers look very interesting and are the right price at $250. But not sure how people would rate them. Maybe check them out.

You need SERIOUS clearance for those - they are really amazing, but they are literally a spinning fan with LEDs timed to create the image. It’s a striking effect, but you have a fan blasting at you so keep that in mind. We used to use one on stage to to show special effects in certain songs and I’ve been jacked by it a couple times.

You can actually buy them on Amazon or alibaba for a little less money but the LightedPinballMods guys have gone through a lot of trouble to make them easy to set up. Having done it both ways, I’d buy theirs 10 times over.

How loud is the fan? Videos online unfortunately don’t have any sound.

Not terribly loud - most fans make a lot of noise because of the air being pulled through the protective cage. This one doesn’t have that, so much quieter. you’d never hear it over a game’s audio

Quoted from Pozzest01:This is what was sent to me to fix the vuk. Good luck.[quoted image][quoted image]

so to fix the VUK you just have to adjust it?
there is nothing needed from the factory?

mine has been messed up for a while, I guess.

Quoted from hocuslocus:

Stern issued a fix that was literally just some instructions on how to move the vuk bracket under the PF. Did that in mine and didn’t do anything.

Only thing that worked was grinding a concave dimple in the top of the VUK plunger as per this video......

Quoted from HurryUpPinball:

I just finished an updated tutorial regarding the VUK. If anyone is having issues with the consistency of shots fired from the VUK, this may help. This is an update to my previous game adjustments video for EHOH.
How to fix the VUK:

Game Adjustments (ball guide, crate, and VUK)

I've had no noticeably troubling issues since the code update have had a few good games. I'd say you should be free to go ahead.

Ordered topper and arrived today. Box was beat to hell. Was supposed to be shipped via UPS but I noticed a USPS special handling sticker on it? Shipping label is UPS though.

Opened box and there was no foam padding on the sides. Just the heavy duty bubble wrap. Thank God no damage to the topper.

It is definitely heavier than BKSOR topper, by a lot. Definitely feels solid and sturdy. I felt no regret getting my BKSOR topper and so far I am happy with this.

I think $750 would have been a better price which is still a lot of money, but what can you do. Figure get it for retail instead of jacked up prices on secondary market.

Paint application on gargoyles and tombstone not bad. Not fine art quality but better than Halloween decoration ones. I do not have the pin yet so can’t test it yet. Hopefully Stern ships next month.

So far by looks I give it a solid 7.5/10. I used to be an artist so others may rate higher or even layer. Definitely not regretting the purchase so far. Munsters side armor blades will be next but will wait till the pin is in hand. Those would be a tough sell. And waiting for Medisinyl’s mods to arrive this week.

Are your gargoyles a different colour to the first batch or is it just the light? They look more black than purple.

If you can find one get it. They don’t make them for long and Elvira run is even more limited I believe than most toppers.

anyone know where I can get a topper? I've had a deposit down since last November with automated services...

#7488 3 years ago
Quoted from Utesichiban:

Do we know if Stern is going to continue making the toppers are are they limiting the number?

First we heard it was going to be limited to 200.
Then ‘they’re going to do another run’
Then ‘no more toppers’
The latest “Stern’s doing another run in April”

So, who knows.

Stern never even posted the topper on their store until after the initial run was sold out. They never confirmed the rumored 200 number.

Unless Stern makes an announcement or asks distributors for orders, I wouldn’t assume they are going make more. If you want one and can find one now - buy it.

That’s impressive! I used prusament galaxy black and simply pulled them off the printer and stuck them on the machine. That filament has a cool stone like look to it. Didn’t even sand anything

But those look clean!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. If I find one and pony up $1000 +, I hope they are limited and won't be making more. At that kind of price point, it almost becomes an investment with the hope they are limited enough I could get resell it at at least close to what I bought it for... but I know pinball machines (let alone toppers) aren't investments .

At $1200 you shouldn’t lose any money. If it stays limited which I am sure it will you will at least get your money back. I would grab it if you want it. Or if you don’t have it what’s your first feeling? If no regret pass. My wife and I would have regretted not getting it.

I am waiting to hear also if he doesn’t care for GnR either. EHOH is a tough pin to beat IMO. Of all the pins I have played since starting the hobby in 2019, it’s still my favorite. There’s a GnR le in Gilbert Az I want to go play.
