Got a brand new Elvira HOH last month. Went to turn it on today and it does not boot up. All lights to cpu, power supply, node etc are on. I reseated connectors. Not sure what it can be. Anyone else have this problem with a new stern pin?

Contact Stern and they will help you through the issue. If you get no response, you can try below:

Sounds like you may need to flash a new SD card.

This has happened to a few of us. There is a section in the 3lvira owners club thread about it. I am not sure how to search for you. There are photos of which lights on the CPU board will be indicating the SD card has failed.

If it is not the SD card, it is the CPU board.

    Good Luck!

Thank you. I'm downloading the updated sd software. You think I can just use the same as card?

But how can a new pin that is only a month old have a bad part already? Other people said the had issues with other machines. What's going on with stern? Are they just pumping out machines with cheap parts?

You should be able to assuming it formats with no issue to erase everything then you can flash the image you downloaded from sterns site.

Believe it or not, shit happens. All new games can have issues. Just like old ones.

Yes the SD cards failing has been a known issue

As mentioned ... I bought a NIB Tron LE with a bad recognizer motor ... Stern was good about it and sent me a new one immediately

You’ll be fine, prolly something simple and you’ll be up n running soon

The magic 8 ball says the answer to your question is "yes".

***please make sure you format the SD card (new and existing) before you flash the code***

From what I can work out, there was a few bad SD cards. To be safe we purchased good quality new SD cards.

We flashed the existing card in our 3lvira and at first it worked. When we went to update the code, card crashed again so we smashed it with a hammer. We flashed a new card. The new card and game have worked well ever since!

All good. Downloaded the updated software for the SD card and fired right up.

Yea but for $7800 there's shouldn't be any issues. Game was probably rushed in time for Halloween 2019

In a perfect world sure. But unfortunately for pinball machines, issues are far too common, new or old, all manufacturers. Just the way it is. Glad you got your game back up. Enjoy.
