Just joined last night. Can't wait to work on it. It's filthy and needs a little work but I am beyond happy about this. It's a grail pin for me that I never thought I'd be able to get. Just got lucky.

I'm (hopefully) on their waiting list, so we'll see. I know they are a small operation, though. Takes time.

#1057 5 years ago

My goodness I hope they make extras. I asked to be placed on standby but n ever heard back from them.

I just ordered my gold PF. I am so stoked. So, so stoked.

Quoted from yavuzg:

I've been a long time reader of this forum and I just finished shopping my first pin, Elvira & The Party Monsters...
I've bought this junk for 100 bucks from an ex operator's warehouse clearance sale
[quoted image]
... and restored it with the information mostly I read from pinside Never had any experience in restoring a pin before. It took 6 months of my hobby time and now its in my game room.
[quoted image]

I just wanted to say thank you guys for all the info and would like to join the club

Absolute stunner. It would be neat if you documented your process in a thread here, people would appreciate it.

*I* would appreciate it.

That'll probably work (I would shave off those little extensions for sure) but it would be a good investment to buy a wire bending kit and fab your own.

Ok so like.. now it's the easy part, right?

... right?

For those of you needing to get a new decal for the backpanel - the one from pinball.center is *ok* but not perfect. It isn't sized completely correctly. It is like a fraction too small. The color is *ok* but a little washed. I had to replace mine due to bad printing and frankly... nicotine stain.
PXL_20210119_154558185 (resized).jpgPXL_20210119_154558185 (resized).jpg

I'll be adding the cutouts after the sticky settles.

Does anyone have a good shot or can detail the plastic posts heights on the right slingshot? I think my original posts were incorrect and now fastening the end of the waterslide ramp is causing some height issues. Basically the ramp ends up too high for the metal post it is supposed to attach to.

I know there are two different post heights in the game, two of the shorter ones (total of four 03-7542-9) are for the outlane difficulty adjustments, do the other short posts go under the right sling?

dmacy you just redid one and made an excellent thread - I couldn't see a picture of the right sling posts, maybe you have a different detail shot?

#1377 3 years ago
Quoted from guitarded:

Tall Posts under the slings.
There is a Black Plastic Spacer that rides on top of the metal post to bridge the gap you are talking about.

Yep - I *just* looked closer at my pictures from disassembly and was wondering what that was. It's a little spacer. Thanks very much!

Is there a good speaker upgrade for this game? I'm doing the cabinet restore and I figured I might as well if a good one is available. I noticed that Flipper Fidelity doesn't seem to have anything but the subwoofer for it.

This was a harrowing experience but wow did it turn out good. I might need to do a build thread.

I'll be honest jokerpoker - you were one of the people I studied based upon your IJ restoration. I cribbed from quite a few people but I studied your progress in the Australian forum where you documented your cabinet refresh. Really good job.

#1389 3 years ago

I'm posting a rebuild thread.

Here are the final pics from my Elvira now that my build thread is almost done:

PXL_20210404_022857151 (resized).jpgPXL_20210404_022857151 (resized).jpg

I really like the Inkochnito replacement decals. Really dresses up the machine.

PXL_20210404_022934836 (resized).jpgPXL_20210404_022934836 (resized).jpg

The translite looks like it is yellow, but that's LED's on a phone cam for you. The translite is so beautiful in person.

Couple playfeld shots:

I kept the original Boogie Men! These guys are great.

PXL_20210404_023019141 (resized).jpgPXL_20210404_023019141 (resized).jpg

Again, the replacement decals are just the best.

PXL_20210404_020446979 (resized).jpgPXL_20210404_020446979 (resized).jpg

I am very glad I decided to paint down to the floor. It looks so, so sharp.

PXL_20210404_023236469 (resized).jpgPXL_20210404_023236469 (resized).jpg
PXL_20210404_023935306 (resized).jpgPXL_20210404_023935306 (resized).jpg

I have the original flyer and a signed plastic from Elvira herself. I'd love to get the translite signed someday.

PXL_20210404_024242484 (resized).jpgPXL_20210404_024242484 (resized).jpg

I allowed myself a couple signatures of my own - there's the aforementioned one behind the boards in the head, and then I added some of these under the playfield as wel as L. Christmas.

PXL_20210404_023538134 (resized).jpgPXL_20210404_023538134 (resized).jpg

And added this as my right instruction card:

Free Play Card with Border (resized).pngFree Play Card with Border (resized).png

I like to add trivia and history on my games. I'm still working on the text because it's a little disjointed.

The build thread is mostly done, and is here: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/elvira-and-the-party-monsters-bewitched-revamp

For LED lighting and coloring, I like to color match inserts except orange and yellow. Orange gets pink (yes, pink, it makes the orange show up very bright!) and yellow gets cool white. On this game, white inserts get cool white.

GI gets warm white. I do not and will not ever put color under plastics. Plastics have color already; you want to highlight *that* color.

Translite gets warm white with bendies behind Elvira and other areas to dissipate the light better and avoid having little dots behind the translite. I do not color translites.

I use Comet 2 SMD LEDs.

Edit: oops I didn't mean to put this in this thread. Oh well. Now you know.

I could not find it either. I was lucky that mine was recoverable.

Quoted from CoolCatPinball:

I havnt messed with the topside too much, but from what I have done, it seems fine. The major holes are pretty dead on. And CPR does have a disclaimer on their site about dimple locations not being 100%. But man these are way off. Not complaining as I'd hand fit them anyway, just a warning to anyone who may be attempting their first playfield swap.

The only place I found weirdness on the CPR topside holes was around the Barbecue targets. Everything else was quite good.

Underside I had to do paper transfers nearly everywhere.

#1470 2 years ago
Quoted from CoolCatPinball:

I read your entire restoration thread before starting mine. Well done sir!! Very well done.

Thank you! It's a shame some of the pictures got replaced with completely random ones during the big crash of 2021.

#1483 2 years ago

you have done a wonderful thing

#1493 2 years ago

That's a great restore! Very pretty. I love that game so much.

#1512 2 years ago

It was a translite.

#1513 2 years ago
Quoted from Enchantress:

Just received my backboard decal from the Pinballcenter, and let me just say there’s room for improvements. Color, overall length, alignment, graphics etc. Sticker will definitely work if you just want to cover up the existing board. But due to my OCD I’m going to re-do the entire graphic. Then print it on air lock improved quality material. Will post pix when complete.
[quoted image]

If you look at my rebuild thread, you can see how I dealt with this. I didn't feel the colors were too bad even though the letters and the model of Elvira was muted. Basically it was sand off old decal, color the backboard black, clear it, and then wet install the decal, lining it up on the right side where the Deadheads are. Everything else fell into place.
