By chance is anyone looking to off-load their EATPM pin?

6 months later
#1431 2 years ago
Quoted from CoolCatPinball:

Need some help. I just picked up my Elvira, and I'm making my list of needed parts. I'm having one HELL of a time finding the plastic channel at the bottom of the backbox that the backglass sits in. It's an odd shape which no one seems to carry. Does anyone have a source for this stuff?
[quoted image]

I’ve been looking for that trim forever. Posted for help and heard nothing. Probably on the unobantium list…… unfortunately!

#1440 2 years ago
Quoted from CoolCatPinball:

There's a wonderfully done resto thread done about 4 months ago by alexmogil. My documentation would pale in comparison....lol. I'll be referencing that one alot.
Does anyone have a domestic source for the apron decals? I can't find any in the states.

I’m getting all my decals with this next Zitt order. We need a few more to join in!!

Completely digging the color on the speaker grill!!

#1456 2 years ago

Scribbles, the trim/channel you referred to was the obsolete one we all are in search of? What did yours look like, if you snapped any pics? And what did you do to remedy it?

Sorry I lunch boxed…… post 1427! How did you repair?

2 weeks later
#1461 2 years ago
Quoted from CoolCatPinball:

So, all the damage on my piece was on the portion that faces towards the player, the front face i suppose you could say. Mine had some chunks missing out of it. The repair was super simple. All I did was buy a sheet of 1/16" thick black ABS plastic off of Amazon. I believe it was about 12" x 36" and cost around $20. I then measured the original channel face dimensions and cut a piece of the ABS the same size. Lastly, I roughed up the face of the original plastic and glued the new piece of ABS on it. I used clear silicone as an adhesive. A plastic bonding epoxy would work also. Just be sure to have plenty of clamps or clothespins or something on hand to hold the 2 parts together while they cure. 1/8" ABS is too thick, make sure to use 1/16". Worked wonderfully for me.
[quoted image]

Killer job!! Pin is coming along nicely. I’m currently still in the tear down phase on mine. I’ll definitely be referring back to your posted pix. Cheers

Scribbles, start to finish how long did she take you? Or maybe I don’t want to know, mine is creeping along..

Just received my backboard decal from the Pinballcenter, and let me just say there’s room for improvements. Color, overall length, alignment, graphics etc. Sticker will definitely work if you just want to cover up the existing board. But due to my OCD I’m going to re-do the entire graphic. Then print it on air lock improved quality material. Will post pix when complete.

Sorry to hear that. If you are able to run a few extra, I would buy 2 from you.

I’ll post pics once I’m satisfied with results.

Quoted from Pinkitten:

My camera doesn’t capture how green this new display is. It’s very bright and very green! My original display gassed out. I installed an Xpin replacement yesterday and I’m very happy with it. Took me 15 mins to swap them. Green fits this theme.
[quoted image]

Pinkitten where did you get your display? Green has been on back order forever.

#1539 2 years ago

Damn, I’ve been checking with them every few months for almost a year.

How many 3 million point jack pots have you achieved in a single game? When the light is lit I choke more times than not. Damn!!!!

#1560 2 years ago

Finally got the back board decals printed. They are high quality air-lock 3M vinyl and couldn’t be happier with finished product. Art is spot on with several corrections made from previous decal purchased. If interested PM me. Working on apron art now!

Getting there, but I believe this Green was UV ink silk screened originally!? Trying to match is quite a challenge but not raising the white flag just yet. The previously purchased decal at the top pic. Substantial improvement already, keep you posted.

Before (previously purchased) and after. The bats got their wings back, added a hole for the Party Punch LED and just overall color improvement.

image (resized).jpgimage (resized).jpg
#1564 2 years ago

Besides some other overdue upgrades, our EATPM pins could definitely benefit from Cliffy’s. Trough feed, shooter lane, party punch upkick and most of all boogie men upkick. In speaking with Cliff, he would completely be into creating these for all of us to benefit from, but he’s in need of a used playfield. Putting this out there to see if anyone would be willing to loan or sell their old PF so that all of our pins will stay in tip top.

#1566 2 years ago

When my bbq lock ejects balls they strike plastic directly across from the ramp. Anyone else experience this?

#1568 2 years ago

Replicating the UV ink probably not happening. So this version is better than the ones already available for the original playfields. I’m going to make one that matches the repro. CPR pf’s which most of us have. Stay tuned, and thoughts definitely appreciated!!

#1569 2 years ago

This just caught my eye from a Market listing. The UV apron ink kind of clashing with the resto pf green. Some may call it OCD, I prefer quality control!!

Has anyone ever wrapped their brain around reproducing the SKULL cave? Like the majority of us, our plastic forms have miscellaneous cracks from age/abuse and over tightening screws over the years. I have spoken to a few plastic manufacturers and the initial cost of producing a form would be up to $10K!! One was reproduced several years back and it was close, but not perfect. Would be stoked to hear some thoughts…

#1645 2 years ago
Quoted from tiltmonster:

It must have been done before, I didn't buy one when Marco had them available a few years ago figuring I could get one at a later time... that's not the case but you'll see them listed as out of stock at some pinball part stores.
https://www.marcospecialties.com/pinball-parts/31-1517-2011

Yeah they have been out of stock for years. Those are slightly different from OEM, missing the (typically broken) front right tab and teeth are different. We are some crafty dudes, I know this is possible!?!

#1648 2 years ago
Quoted from Pinkitten:

There is one skull cave on EBay with a few boogie men, but it’s $249.00.

I had a buddy buy that b/c seller said it was original and when he received it, completely night/day. But for the person who just needs one and truly doesn’t care, it’ll work. Funny b/c he wasn’t too stoked with it and seller was being a complete dick, refused the return stating it was a Bally. In the end got his funds back and there it remains on Ebay.

#1649 2 years ago

Pinkitten do you know which company re-pros those Whitewater mountains? I’ll spend some time inquiring to see what I can come up with.

Does anyone have any tips on getting the monster slide installed? I've probably spent about two hours trying to get that one screw in.

I love working on pins, I love working on pins, I love working on pins! Mindset is always a good place to begin…..

#1726 1 year ago
Quoted from DarthPaul:

Took a dinner break and watched a little of the Hallmark channel. Decided to go back down to give it another shot and 10 minutes later, I did it. Elvira never looked better.

Hallmark channel, some good wholesome programming. Great for lowering that BP!!

#1735 1 year ago
Quoted from tiltmonster:

Yesterday afternoon I installed new bumper caps, new ramps, new plastics excluding the Organ Player and Elvira in the Cauldron (I didn’t see the need to replace those) and I also installed the M&M Creations rollover switch, so it was a long afternoon/evening. Doing all this at the same time made sense because I had everything ripped apart and its very time consuming.
I’d like to give a shout out to Kyle5574 on YouTube, his video helped me out quite a bit, but I did a couple of things differently. This is many layered processes that has a few curve balls, and his video is very helpful.
I removed the back playfield glass channel which allowed to get access behind the backwall making it easier to remove the screw holding the ramps together. By doing that and removing the Boogiemen plastic it will allow access to drill a new hole in the PF because the predrilled ramp hole did not line up.
The decal on the left ramp is not a perfect fit, I had to start mine slightly higher or the curve would have been offline, it’s not that noticeable but you can see part of the hole under the ramp.
[quoted image]
The M&M rollover switch is great and is working well but I wish I had installed it lower. I wasn’t sure if it was not long enough to span the gap to get a reading and may be too close to the PF. You can see it’s shadow where is sits now but if I had placed it lower it would have been out of view behind the Monster Slide sign.
[quoted image]
I’m very happy with the way it turned out and I think it was worth all the time and aggravation. Pop Bumper caps were from Marco, ramps from Starship Fantasy, plastics from CPR and the rollover switch from M&M Creations. I had some of these parts for several years just waiting to be installed I was procrastinating due to the time and effort needed for this install. This is also a good time to replace those impossible rubber under the ramps so have some on hand!
The carnage
[quoted image]
The results
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
I wish someone would remake the Skull Cave again that would be great, mine is brittle and starting to fall apart.
Good luck to anyone redoing their ramps!
[quoted image]

I have done my research on those dastardly Skull Caves, b/c I think we all are in similar situations in reference to conditions. They were never designed to stand the tests of time. Talked to several manufacturers in the attempt to reproduce, but the money they want to simply create a form was cost prohibitive. With the increasing technology in 3D printing, I'd be interested if someone could print a killer reproduction. So yes, I'm putting out a challenge for those of you with design/printing skills!!

That’s a beauty! A local collector and friend of mine restored his EATPM a few years ago, and I bought it in 2020. It’s restored top to bottom like yours, and even has a Kruzman clear coated pf. I sleep underneath it at night just to make sure it doesn’t get away.

For a machine that spent its first 13 years in an arcade, the cabinet is surprisingly damage free!!
[quoted image]

I'd kill to have that shop space.

#1989 1 year ago

Looks like you're getting close! Not sure if it is the camera angle but your version is missing detail the original has. The nose looks rounder, teeth don't seem as detailed, the line and space between the eyes on the forehead. The green might be throwing me off as well. Totally stoked that someone finally took this on. I'm sure all of our skulls are in varying degrees of cracked.

That’s beautiful! So much nicer than the original or the repro! I’d absolutely buy one if you/they want to make more.

Quoted from RobertWinter:

Contact user CYUniversal (Lalo). I had mine made 24" wide to match the EHOH topper width which sits next to it. You can go larger or smaller. Price will adjust accordingly.

I might be in on one as well, repro topper definitely needs an upgrade.

Talking to Lalo now, how’s the quality? Anything you’d change or do differently?

#2206 3 months ago
Quoted from RobertWinter:

The quality is excellent. It's USB powered so you'll need a small wall/plug adapter. It comes with an inline electronic dimmer that I unplugged and am not using.
[quoted image]
The edge light can be a different color if you like. I thought green looked the best. Red might also look good. He also offers back lighting at no extra charge if you want to light the wall behind the topper. I opted for no backlight.
Here's a mockup Lalo did with red edge (and before we centered the Bally logo)
[quoted image]
I does looks a *litttle* dark when it's not plugged in (which is to be expected) but really comes to life when turned on.
[quoted image]
[quoted image]
The unit is sealed and non-serviceable as far as I can see. Hopefully I'll never need to open it up.
[quoted image]
Don't think I'd do anything differently. I *might* have made the Bally logo a little larger, but I'm happy with how it looks. Like I said, I went with 24" width to match my EHOH topper width. His next size up is 26" which would probably look really nice.

How did you mount?

I'm glad you took a picture of the package before opening it. Lalo packs these very well with lots of protection. I was impressed before I even opened mine.
Did you go with 24" or larger?

I went 24” with EATPM and he did a 24” JJP GnR for me. Even though these put out ample light I was/still on the fence with backlighting. Thought it might be overkill!?!

Does anybody have a spare replacement skull? Or know of a seller in the US? Seems like my search comes up with only vendors outside of the US.
Mine looks like years of heat from the bulb made it brittle and it lost a little plastic in the eye socket. [quoted image]

These sir fall into the “Unobtanium” category. The plastics used in manufacturing weren’t meant to stand the test of time. Good luck finding one in killer condition anywhere on planet earth. There’s been repros made but just not the same.

#2233 73 days ago

Looks like another company has come out with a new version/offering. Anyone have experience with these or is the company legit? Cost is cheap w/o shipping. Might be into a group buy to save on shipping!? I just shot them an email to see what I can find out. In a side by side with original there are differences, but I think the art with the OG was the paint.
