Quoted from Enchantress:

Looking good, isn't it killing you to have it down for so long w/o playing? That's one of the reasons I bought 2, 1 to play while restoring the other.

I haven't played this table since probably 1995. It came back to me about 2 years ago and into storage it went. A few more weeks to get it right won't kill me.

I currently have a backlog in my shop of about 35 pinball machines. So i can only work on my stuff on the weekend and even then, I spend most of the time playing catchup on customer machines.

Your back wall decal really makes it pop!

#1952 8 months ago

So very very close. Next weekend, I’ll finish rebuilding all the action and get it back in the cabinet. Then, board work starts.

Did you solve your plastic spacer issue for the sling plastics? J

Quoted from Jrotten:

Yes. I went through countless restore threads and other Elvira posts. Looking at those images, the plastics are meant to be sloped from the factory.

Has anyone replaced this ball gate flapper? I can't find a part number. I found something that looks similar at Marco but I want to make sure before I order it. Thanks

Ok, where on earth does this connector go? I know it is right in front of my face, but for two days, I haven’t been able to find it.

To your knocker in top right of back box. It's really dark up in there!

#1961 8 months ago

Now that I got mine all back together, I have a dead head stationary target, right sling and the lamp in center of pop cluster not working. Can't find anything wrong with them. So, it's got to be either bad IDC connectors or broken wires under insulation. I hate these f*cking IDC connectors!

Added 8 months ago:

Lamp is fixed.
But can't find problem with dead head target and right sling. It's in the interconnect board somewhere dammit!
Any advice before I pull it?
Thanks!

Added 6 months ago:

Turned out to be the 18pin IDC connector on Interconnect board. Replaced with Molex and Trifurcon crimps. Pop cluster lamp was an intermittent socket.

Where can I order EATPM cab decals? I ordered a set from pinballdecals.eu and never got them while the owner swears up and down it was mailed out twice

So I ended up getting these decals! If anyone wants them I’d sell for $175 delivered

I’m ordering all the bits I need to fix the alkaline damage on my board. But I can’t find these in the manual. What is the item marked as B? Is it the same as the cap in C57?

*Edit*
Nevermind I found it. It is the same as cap C59

That's a lot of work!
Might want to try Quik Chip SMT Removal Alloy Kit for this job unless you have a good desoldering gun. I use it for removing male headers. Works great and it's on sale here!

I do this for a living. Rebuilding and repairing pins that is. So I’ve got a few tools. I made some descent progress this morning.

I just ordered a new CPU about an hour ago. I tried to repair but damn that's meticulous work.

Here's a couple crappy pics of my coin door wiring.

Awe shit, really? I ordered the RD from pinball life.

Easier to remove the service switch panel and solder on wire leads to splice later after you reinstall switch panel.
I put the last Rottendog MPU bpoard that they made in a F-14 (system 11A) with no issues at all. But that was the last generation board they had with the daughter sound board that was needed on all but System 11C. It also didn't work for System 11 nothing. This new model covers all of them (thus why more expensive), so not sure of reliability.

Information is late but posted so that others reading can hopefully be able to use the methodology to resolve other issues in the future. Not just for this game but also for other games.

Quoted from RandyW:

Ok, where on earth does this connector go? I know it is right in front of my face, but for two days, I haven’t been able to find it.

This is documented in the manual in a few places.

This one is subtle but it is documented.

Appreciate the vote of confidence! I don't like to comment on other manufacturers as it may be perceived incorrectly (potential conflict of interest). I will state, though, that I believe there are (at least) two issues with this manufacturer.

  1. The quality assurance is poor (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/erratic-everything#post-7481766). The board may work but it's a crap shoot and "you (person receiving the board) got lucky". There are plenty of posts about this issue.
  2. The customer support is poor (https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rottendog-mpu327-and-9211). Support is one area that most people don't factor when making a purchase.

Same.

Well, I’m pretty much done with the alkaline cleanup. I’m now waiting on a few components, mainly PIA chips, so I can finish repopulating the board. I also bought the cab decals from DK so I decided to go ahead and do the cab restore now.

So now I have to figure out my armor colors.

For a machine that spent its first 13 years in an arcade, the cabinet is surprisingly damage free!!

Prototype printed and painted.
I think the layer lines give it some cool texture!
Some opaque glow in the dark filament on the way for v2.
The translucent/fluorescent green looks pretty dope with a UV flashlight in it.
I'm planning on making UV stadium lights to make all the green pop!
PM me if you'd like one. I can paint it for you or leave it bare.

Looks like you're getting close! Not sure if it is the camera angle but your version is missing detail the original has. The nose looks rounder, teeth don't seem as detailed, the line and space between the eyes on the forehead. The green might be throwing me off as well. Totally stoked that someone finally took this on. I'm sure all of our skulls are in varying degrees of cracked.

The scanning app I use (PolyCam) can only capture small details so well.
I've been putzing with MeshMixer to clean up the model and v2 will have some more defined features!

Thank you! I miss my old shop, it was bigger. But this one is nicer. I have started to personalize it too. I filled a hole in the floor with epoxy and my keychain and a quarter from my birth year.

Slowly getting everything stripped. All new armor arrived today, so Monday I’ll drop it all off at the powder coater’s shop.

I got a bit further, but my compressor and sander are at the house. So this is it for today. Who makes the replacement restoration decals for the cabinet? I’d like to replace all of mine. I suppose I can print my own, but if someone is making them….

I’m not planning to repaint the back of the cabinet. I like a bit of patina on my pins and it cleaned up pretty nice.
