Quoted from PatWoodrailLVR:Can anyone tell me where the Monster Slide light is wired to? Mine is missing the assembly and harness. I can't see any empty plugs under the PF.
Looks like the Cyclops Eye is wired to the same 4-pin molex as the Skull Cave eyes. There are 3 connectors in that area under the playfield:
- 2-pin: Monster Slide entry switch
- 4-pin: Cyclops Eye and Skull Cave eyes
- 2-pin: Skull Cave flasher
Hi all. I just picked up an Elvira and the Party Monsters which was at the top of my wish list. Always really liked this game. It's a pretty nice example, but has a few things that need to be addressed. The biggest issue is the left display is cutting off the top line or two of characters. The easiest solution seems to be just go with LED replacements. I did a search on this thread, but did not see any discussion of the relative brands. From a general search of the forum, there doesn't seem to be a significant difference in quality between the various brands (XPin, Rottendog, PinScore, etc.) However, I thought I'd see if anyone here has experience replacing these and which might most faithfully recreate the font/characters and color of the originals. Or just any general opinions on quality and ease of installation. Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks

Before you spend money on displays I'd at least re-seat all connectors associated with the displays and display board. That may (or may not) fix your issue. Congratulations on the wishlist purchase!

I agree with Scribbles, try reseating and you might solve that issue. If you do decide you need/want a new display, I went with an Xpin in mine, and I’m very happy with it. I chose green LEDs, which I like a lot. But they make several colors, including orange. Here is how mine looks. I forgot to add the 2 pieces of tape that minimize bleeding between the LEDs, but you still get the idea.

Not sure if I would change colors or go with the original orange. Did you do anything to account for the significant voltage difference?

The newer displays themselves are like 1/10th the voltage of the old ones
Quoted from DK:The newer displays themselves are like 1/10th the voltage of the old ones
Yeah, I read that some folks got rid of the high voltage board when they installed LED display, but doesn’t seem to cause any issues if you don’t. I’m still learning electronics, so wasn’t sure if supplying too much voltage would be an issue.

I didn’t see anything on the Xpin site, so I just installed the new displays. No issues so far, but if someone knows if something should be altered, that would be good to know.

You guys are awesome! I re-seated display and board connectors and it’s good as new. Thank you! Donation to Pinside already paid for itself and then some!!!

Nice! Very subtle
So, I’ve owned EATPM since the end of April and just today got to put my initials in by snagging the 4th highest score. Nothing to write home about at just a shade over 5 million, but I was happy to finally be represented in my own game

Aways a good thing to have ones own initials on ones own machine
I have two system 11B boards ready to ship monday, one to one original board design. Upgraded transistors to not need the second set of high wattage resistors.
Check it out:

Spam that Left Ramp!
I decided to try a few of the anodized lock nuts on EATPM. Not cost-effective to overuse them, but here and there they are pretty nice on certain pins.

Love it!! But look out, the "woke" crowd is gonna show up and lecture you
Hi, new member here, I just got Elvira on Wed. but it is a little rougher than I had hoped. A couple of questions, l have the Monster slide plastic but it is not attached. I should be able to make some brackets but I can't find the light that attaches to it. I would think it should be somewhere dangling but I can't find it. Second question, the ELVIRA inserts all light up when they do their fast blinking but when they do the slow blinking the "A" doesn't light, any ideas why this is happening? Thanks for any help you can give.
Are there supposed to be 3 lights as part of the skull, one for each eye and one mounted between the eyes? I'm looking at the operator's manual and it only shows 2 lights and one light over the ramp.
Quoted from DarthPaul:Are there supposed to be 3 lights as part of the skull, one for each eye and one mounted between the eyes? I'm looking at the operator's manual and it only shows 2 lights and one light over the ramp.
2 skull eyes & 1 over ramp. I believe the ramp light wire comes from under the skull

There is also a flasher under the skull. It will be on your coil chart.
Can anyone provide me with a source where I can buy a replacement lock assembly for the back glass? My machine came without one, and I can't find one ANYWHERE! Apparently it's an oddball design? Unfortunately I don't even have an old one to look at and maybe fabricate a lock. Any help is much appreciated

Here's what it looks like. Should be pretty easy to make.
I'm about to start a restore on one, and can take measurements later, if needed.

Crap, I just seen this, it looks like I mounted the flasher above the ramp. Now I'm back to square one, looking for the missing light.

Sweeeet!! Thanks everyone! If I'm successful, I'll post some pics for others to reference in the future.

Been working on my EatPM. Replaced the left plasma display glass and have just removed the mylar that was bubbled on the inserts and peeling on the side. Need to remove the adhesive and work on some inserts before clearcoating the playfield.

That came up nicely, I'm too nervous to try that on my machine. Keep up the good work!

Thanks! The upside down can of air trick worked very well. Barely had to pull when the mylar was cold enough, so no art was pulled up. A couple inserts already had text missing before the mylar was removed, so I bought insert decals for those.

Are you doing the clear coat or sending it out? I thought about a PF replacement but mine is in pretty good condition and funds were tight when CPR did their run. I have some wear around the Pops and Bat Lanes otherwise really good so I considered restoring it but got cold feet, I'll watch your progress and maybe rethink things. It's impressive to see how nice your PF held up after all these years...

The mylar worked where it was, but there is wear around the pops, bat lanes, and the left and right upper playfield. Since that is covered, I’m not going to worry about that.
Another Pinsider will be doing the clearcoating, and I in return will be going through his Space Shuttle. It has wiring, controlled lamp and power supply issues now. Will swap games and work on them, then swap back when done.
Will post more pics as we go along!

Sounds like a fair deal! Looking forward to seeing it done, good luck!
New to the club, and glad to finally have my machine playing well. I removed a lot of coloured puke on the GI.. but digress that I did go crazy with coloured flashers!
So many little quirky things to love about the game, but I felt like many of the existing gameplay videos don't really highlight the great music and callouts, so I was happy to get a decent game on stream with the volume turned up:

Second video is just some ramp spamming, but just love the "Oh yeah... Oh Nooooo" callout, so had to clip that also:
