Quoted from dudah:Elvira is probably the best license in pinball ever.
There's already two, from two different generations; why not make a sick modern one?
Also because they could now use the same sweet color display as Batman uses.
Quoted from Bronty:well, you make it sound like elvira owners are going to whack off over the pics and footage or something. Its just cheesy fun, what's the big deal? I don't think it makes anyone old or gross if they dig an elvira theme at all. She's really not "sexy" to look at anyways. Maybe in 1980 when the alternative was the sears bra section.
Yeah I don't get the hate either. It's a business and they need to sell machines, and today it's not only operators buying the games it's a huge home market. So you have to target people who have disposable money. They could try and target a new pinball machine at teens but given that their financial target is a $300 gaming console I'd say that would be bad business. Hence you target older people that likely have the money to spend on these machines. Throw in a nostalgia hook and you have a potential good seller (see Batman 66). Plus from what I understand the Elvira theme was popular with female players as well, I definitely see that at my film house where the girls tend to go straight to the Elvira tables first. In fact the Elvira tables are the only ones they have periscope'd with on Twitter. It makes sense to me as a theme, but it's all rumor at this point anyways.
Quoted from Britt-in-VA:Ha, I was just reading on another thread just now a guy asking opinions on buying a NIB Stern, and everybody chiming in with the QC issues. I was unaware of these, as I haven't really been paying attention for over a year now.
Waiting may be the best option, but I am very interested in this title.
To be honest I've never heard of the qc issues anywhere but here on Pinside, so I'm not sure what to make of it. It seems like as the prices go up the qc complaints go up, but ultimately I have no idea what's going on and what's real. I guess I'll find out though as this would be my first nib purchase, if they make it.
Quoted from Niterider:So I still have plenty of time to save up for that NIB purchase?
Seems like it. I don't mind if it takes a while though because I splurged on a Luci, so wouldn't mind a break from pinball purchases for a while.
Quoted from ultimategameroom:Elvira’s fang club newsletter for June had the following info...[quoted image]
Yaaaas, I'm buying this for sure! No idea yet where I can put it but I'll sort that later.
Quoted from Mudflaps:It’s an old man theme...
I hear this a lot but I'll say this much, the #1 pinball machine I've had that the ladies I film instantly recognize and go to all the time (even more so than the guys) have been my Elvira pins. No joke, they have just about 100% recognition. I honestly think people are underestimating the value and reach of the Elvira brand.
They tweeted the teaser video as well: https://twitter.com/sternpinballinc/status/1172607059034103809
Now to start bugging Deadflip as to when he's gonna play it
Quoted from jellikit:He's been playing it for weeks, now he just needs to show it off to everyone else.
Oh that's true he does get special access to Stern games. Well I'm going to buy this day one so I'll live stream it when I get it.
Dangit I missed the pictures and can't find them anywhere Anyways supposedly we'll know more this week. I did catch the cabinet pics at least, looks pretty cool. Don't think I'll be able to afford an SLE version but maybe try and swing the version just below that.
Quoted from arcademojo:Anyone else calling their distro for an LE already? I just tried but were closed.
Yup, but apparently no pricing details until the coming week.
Quoted from CrazyLevi:Seriously folks - if you can stop reflexively typing "SJW" over and over, what are the "raunchiest" things in the previous Elvira games? "Nice organ?" "That'll get him up?" Are you really worried that Stern is going to nix stuff like that at the behest of feminists who all seem to like Elvira anyway? (at least the ones I know).
Ironically, the various hundreds of lady feminists I know in their 20's and 30's are both very familiar with the Elvira brand, always walked up to my Elvira pins wanting to play them, and also view Elvira as early empowerment where she wore what she wanted, looked as she wanted, said what she wanted and did what she wanted without care about the backlash or fear about not being "as a woman should be".
Quoted from Durzel:I find the art package kinda weird on this. Expected more dark areas, more contrast between playfield and the (million) inserts. Does the layout scream Elvira to you in the same way as e.g. Deadpool does?
Personally I like that it looks different than the other Elvira pins because it looks like it won't have much overlap with existing games. I feel like I can sit this one right next to my Scared Stiff and they will complement each other rather than have lots of look and feature overlap. Actually one could even have all three Elvira pins side by side and that's ok because they will all look and play different.
Like most though I'm just waiting on pricing to decide which one to buy, supposed to be revealed this week!
Quoted from Redfield0009:Just got off the phone with my distributor
LE is priced at 9599 (he is only getting 3 and has a huge list)
Premium is 7899
SLE is 15k
1.The translites between the Premium and LE are the same. LE is just mirrored back glass.
2. The top of the house spins based on modes, lights in the house come on during modes.
3. The dead head crypt can either present a bash toy or feed the VUC.
4. Pops are located behind the crypt.
5.VUC shoots across the playfield into the trunk.
6. The house can feed the ramps.
7. Clips from over 40 movies night if the living dead is one of them.
8. Offical video is up tomorrow
Wait this isn't about TMNT, you must be in the wrong thread Thanks for the info, sle clearly out, need to ponder le and premium.
Quoted from Roostking:Arent any of you NIB buyers worried about playfield issues?
Nope.
Man so many inserts, seems like this may be quite a deep game. Think I'll end up going for a regular premium since the game is the same. High res pics look really nice!
Quoted from Skyemont:Look what prices and clear coat issues can do. I love Elvira. I have owned EATPM and i own a SS. I really wanted this game.
[quoted image]
Polls like this don't reflect reality for a host of reasons, but there's two obvious ones. First are that people that don't have issues with products typically ignore such polls. I only voted in this because I saw your post, but normally I don't bother as I haven't had any issues with Stern games. Second, many that vote would have never bought the game to begin with. It's like when people often say "wish you were closer" in for sale threads, when the reality is even if it was closer most wouldn't actually spend any money.
Quoted from jfh:Yes, but it would still be better with drop targets.
I dunno, sometimes play is better without drop targets. For example I currently own a premium AC/DC that has drop targets but I used to own the pro model that didn't, and the pro model played faster partly because of how fast the ball rebounded off those targets. Not sure how it will play out in Elvira, but maybe it will also speed up the target rebounds.
Quoted from delt31:Looks like a dream for 50-60 year old Pinball players.
It's definitely geared to older players, would have personally preferred if it was 80's horror movies highlighted in the game as I don't recognize any of the movies currently referenced in the game. But I still dig the idea, the flow, the theme and the way it shoots it so I ordered an LE. It will nicely complement my Scared Stiff.
Quoted from arcademojo:I can remember about half of the movies. Some were my favorites from watching her host the movies. Always liked the black and white oldies. Funny thing is I've never watched any of Elvira's own movies.
Game play looks good and nice shots. The only thing that throws me off is the inter tubes on the screen.
I assume the inner tubes are just meant to be a throwback to Elvira And The Party Monsters, which was a pool party. I dunno, I dig them. Hopefully they ship the LE's soon, I'll live stream mine on Twitch once I get it.
Quoted from arcadem:No offense intended to Elvira fans but I just have to say that my DP Premium and JP LE seem far more engaging and cohesive than Elvira HOH appears to be. I thought it looked to be a lot of fun in the initial release promos but I am not so sure of that anymore. Based on tonight's stream, it seems very mundane and repititous. I really hope that I am wrong about that and/ or it improves a lot. If not, I am afraid that many early buyers will regret their early buys. At this point I think I can easily move on from it and look forward to whatever may be next.
No offense taken of course, different strokes for different folks. DP does nothing for me but party on for those that enjoy it. JP doesn't look bad, if I had more room I'd consider it but ultimately the Elvira theme is just much more my speed. Spend your money wherever it works for you.
Quoted from ViperVS:I was expecting awsome Scared Stiff 2. Istead there's black and white 60's movie clips, disco music, colorful life rings and a pensioneer on a casting couch. What the hell is going on here?
It definitely has a different vibe which to me is what I was looking for. I didn't want Scared Stiff 2 personally, already have a Scared Stiff so why have overlap? Instead I love that Party Monsters, Scared Stiff and House Of Horrors are different from each other in look, feel and play to where they can all sit side by side in a collection as different games. And let's face it, if they made Scared Stiff 2 people would rag on it for just being a rehash of Scared Stiff.
Quoted from Vongoosewink:Elvira should have a window in the corner where she is interacting with the player for the ENTIRE game. Laughing at stuff, joking when the player drains, in making funny comments, in general looking attractive and interested in what's going on.
I feel that something like that would get repetitive very very quickly. Her current video scenes aren't an issue because you can skip them with the flippers, but constant banter on screen would not be skippable as you'd be in the middle of playing the game.
Quoted from RobertWinter:The price? OK, the LE is $600 more than previous LEs. I'm sure licensing and the custom Elvira clips added to the overall cost. And you can't compare price on this to a game that's over 23 years old (SS).
Ironically you'll probably have to pay more for a 23 year old SS in as good condition as a new House Of Horrors.
Quoted from Halfwasted:Someone stream this now!!!!
I'm getting my LE next week, I'll live stream it on Twitch then. Warning though, I suck at pinball lol but will be fun to play it live regardless.
Quoted from robertmee:I have a Prem on order, but played the LE today. It is fun, but I thought extremely easy. Quick and Dirty review:

Man you're way better than me, I'm over 100 games in and my best is still around 110 million!
