Quoted from NimblePin:

Probably right about here for me...

I would get in on Elvira 3 after loving SS so much, but this is sooooo much more up my alley... I just hope it's a Powerslave-centric design. Or Somewhere in Time! wow!

Thank goodness somebody posted something about *pinball* in this *pinball* thread on the *pinball* forum. Is this 3rd grade?

I wanted to chime in on the 3rd page, then I had to scroll through all that garbage. Here's to somebody making a pin about the *true* horror host - Zacherle!!

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Zacherle

RIP

Quoted from pinmister:

Not sure about the layout? Some of the shots look tight like Houdini and one shot in particular looks really hard to hit-the shot just to the right of the mansion looks like it is blocked by ramp? Wondering how you would hit it without third flipper?
This game is pricey-hopefully we will see some good deals on HUO/collector games come up for sale on marketplace as people prepare the hit to their wallets.

Good lord. The Houdini shots are not “too tight”, and I’m sure this game will play great too

Quoted from jonesjb:

Rather than have the vertical upkicker shoot to the targets based around a fixed strength, Stern should allow you to alter the strength of the arc to hit the lights by how long you press the center button. Similar to Worms or Angry Birds. It would make the mech more fun and dynamic.
Would this be possible, can code alter coil strength?
Something like this:

Sure, modern games do this in the settings - AP’s games for example let you set coil strength for almost everything in the game

Quoted from T7:

Have you ever watched any of her Horror Movie shows???
You are really DEAD wrong LOL
They matched the game to Elvira perfectly. She's hosted these types of movies - and specifically THESE movies on her TV shows her entire career! And she always makes fun of them. That's who Elvira is - the premier Horror Movie Hostess. In this game, the ghouls she's made fun of are getting her back. It's a great way to add a ton of variety into the game, and also a lot of Elvira.

This is 100% dead on. It's pretty
clear that a lot of folks are not familiar with the history here.
They already made Scared Stiff -
This seems a lot closer
To
What it should have been all along...

I wasn't that psyched about the game at first
But reading the TWIP
Synopsis - it is REALLY ambitious. Awesome

Quoted from Durzel:

Bang on.
People buying the “it’s a stream codebase and not indicative of final product” are putting a lot of faith in to it. Are you suggesting that in a 2 hour stream they can’t demonstrate depth? Or that the missing Elvira videos and callouts are in there somewhere?
Are we supposed to believe that they stripped out loads of Elvira content on their Elvira themed pin called 3lvira.. because the stream had to be... “linear”?
I’ve got some magic beans to sell if so..

I was watching it comparing it to my job, where we schedule demos ahead of time, and don’t always quite make everything work in time. I’m not sure how the Stern code check in works, but if you
Try to add “one more thing”, it can break a LOT of stuff, and forces you to go back a version. Don’t know if this is the case here, but I know Lyman has delivered on all of his precious games - and the rules write up I read on TWIP is -much- more deep than the stream implied. Still need to play it though

#3061 4 years ago
Quoted from taz:

You're probably right and I'm pretty sure that Lyman will work his usual magic. I don't recall an early stream of BM66, in fact, if I remember correctly, I don't think it could even be played at that first Expo and was just a static display. That said, I bought BM66 LE right out of the gate and it was a very frustrating first 18 months. If Lyman had retired or went to another company before he worked his mojo, we would have been hurting. The code took so long that some of us BM66 early buyers speculated back then that he was also working on Elvira code at the same time. Obviously, we were wrong. So, my take is that if someone wants a nice NIB LE they probably need to buy now, but if they want a Premium, there's really no need to rush at this point.

Hasn’t the EHH game been in the works for 2 or 3 years? He may have been!

Quoted from Richthofen:

They have to demo it. It’s on the line and shipping soon. This is when you demo it to get distributors to buy. You gonna hold up the production line and lose tens of thousands of dollars a day because one mode isn’t bug free? No. You remove the mode from the demo and fix it later.
I’m a software engineer. I 100% hide features from demos if they’re not vetted. Breaking the game in a demo is way worse than not showing enough features.

Quoted from Honch:

I can understand this sentiment. But I'm not really loving this pin for different reasons other than what you stated. I do believe at the end of the day this will be a winner.
The complaint that I find baffling is that some people think it's an empty playfied. Empty?!?? Wth are people looking at? Theres a huge mansion sitting right in the middle of this beast. Theres issues I dont like that cant be fixed by code, but this game should rock when the code is completed.

Same thing people said about Hobbit, despite there being a TON of mechs in that game. It’s just that a lot of them are closer to the back in order to make
Room for the 4 beast mechs which are -gasp!- in the middle of
The playfield.

Quoted from cjmjmm2006:

Played some games with my daughters. It's fun but I think it was set up too easy. I liked stacking the multiballs and the angles of the shots are different from most games. Need more time but first 5 games it's a winner to me.[quoted image]

Isn’t it just a fan layout? I’m not currently looking at the playfield but that’s what it seemed like to me at first glance

Quoted from SmallyBells:

Who’s Trent? Why is he sending himself a email? Why is the email posted, I thought that wasn’t allowed? Topper? Why are there 2 identical posts? Is this a ad?
Please Ask Trent If Torgo is involved with the topper

The email is a blind copy (BCC) so he can send one email to everyone and they can’t see each others’ email addresses

Quoted from screaminr:

Personally as someone who isn't in the same Galaxy let alone the same league as someone like Keith Elwin , I don't mind a game that's easier to shoot with so called long ball times , especially when you're paying $2 a game on location . I like being able to do a few modes and see more of the game . When people say a game is too easy and has long ball times , I wonder how many of them get to wizard modes and even complete them . I currently have two games The Hobbit and fish tails . TH is a long playing game and is an adventure , my FT is setup brutal and your game can be over in a blink of an eye . For me Elvira seems it would be good as it is somewhere in the middle .

In general, "medium" ball times seems like a really good idea for location play. Even when I'm out somewhere, I dont' really love playing a game that's going to be a huge investment. I have TH as well and I LOVE playing it at home - but (for me) the longer ball times aren't as desirable when I'm on location

Quoted from screaminr:

Unfortunately for me I don't make a lot of money , so on location long Ball times keep me from buying beers at the bar .

Right, exactly

Quoted from pinballfan2000:

Does anybody know what song plays during House Party mode?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shout_(Isley_Brothers_song)

I’m replacing the song in my game with the Joan Jett version

#3881 4 years ago
Quoted from Chalkey:

You have to get a key from the trunk to unlock the mode. Cant remember which window but it's on here somewhere. After the latest code update you actually need two keys and to play the other special mode first.

The other special mode being the “giant Gila monster”.

#3882 4 years ago

What’s the current situation with the skill shot? I replaced my ball guides but I feel like now I am NEVER getting the award, even when I seem to get the ball in there .. what gives? The game seems to recognize when there’s a ball back there, because it will fire it out from the cellar when necessary. Is it not workign in .93, or did I accidentally screw up an opto or something ?

Quoted from pinballfan2000:

Have anybody recognized that DUN DUN DUUUUUN (only DUUUUUN) plays when player starts deadhead mode? It zooms to entrance of crypt, then skull turns into deadhead, and DUUUUUN plays. I think DUUUUUUN also plays when you score Super Jackpot in Wild Women MB.
In which other moment DUUUUUUN plays besides in deadhead intro?

This is the only time I’ve seen it. Is it used in Gappa Angry?

#3892 4 years ago
Quoted from pinballfan2000:

BTW, how do I start Gappa Angry or other freak fryer modes Make out mayhem, Pool Party, Scream test, Run for your life and Dance fever?

I don't think the other modes are coded yet, but Gappa Angry is started after you've hit a number of switches in the game to go all the way up the Freak Fryer. It should happen after you've started several multiballs. I only get it every once in a while in a REALLY good game

#3895 4 years ago
Quoted from Oldmoto:

Navigate the first stage of gappa and drain. You get pool party. Drain after the 2nd stage, dance party. That’s the best I’ve done. Going back for more.

What! How have I missed this. I must have always gotten to Gappa on my 3rd ball

#3897 4 years ago
Quoted from pinballfan2000:

How many deadheads are in game? I know there are Aunt Surly, Uncle Bolt Head, Sir Normus Cranium and SGT-Jar head. Is there any else deadhead?
Also, does anybody know which video location for 0.92 code in Pinball Browser is video where one of them floats and talks to player? There are four thousand videos, I looked about 250, without finding video where deadhead floats

I believe there are at least 5 - there's a "super dead head" or something like that, which is not yet programmed. I am not sure if anyone found the video yet

#3900 4 years ago
Quoted from pinballfan2000:If super dead head is not in code yet, where you heard about super dead head?

Sorry, “super head shot”. Someone looked through in Pinball Browser and did find something - I’m not sure what post exactly
