Quoted from DJNOEL30:

Yeah, he didn't get allocated enough I guess. I'm on the hunt for another distro to find an LE. I'm hoping the usual pinside outrage will happen after the first live stream and scare some folks into canceling haha

I just sent you a PM .

Quoted from ToucanF16:

When will this be added to the machines list so I can add it to my collection?

Maybe once it ships, since it can't possibly be in your literal collection now?

#2253 4 years ago
Quoted from cscmtp:

I've got the money to buy this and I'm interested in the pin, but I'm NOT just because of the $400 price hike for no justified reason.

Do you guys want a cheap game, or do you want 26 classic horror movie licenses?

#2254 4 years ago
Quoted from robertmee:

This....sorry, all I can say is that 7700 is highway robbery.

I just called 8 distributors and got pricing of $7,699, $7,899, and $7,999.

Hook a brother up and point me in the right direction please. Anyone....
Multiballmaniac1 and TheLaw gave thumbs up to the highway robbery comment, so I'm guessing you guys know who has better pricing as well?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Look what prices and clear coat issues can do. I love Elvira. I have owned EATPM and i own a SS. I really wanted this game.

Quoted from J85M:Elvira 3 ... there’s no topper with this release

here is a recommendation that would set people back ~$50. couple it with a swivel base that moves back and forth a bit.

You know those polls are not contractually binding and likely don't necessarily reflect reality right?

I voted in it and I've never bought an NIB game in my life.

#2259 4 years ago

Trunk Kicker: What's the Objective?

I noticed in the features video that one can enable the Junk-in-the-Trunk diverter on the left ramp that drops the ball into a catapult-like kicker. The outlet for that kicker appears to direct the ball up and right, into the pops. My question would be, why all the work just to kick your ball into the pops when you could accomplish the same thing with your left flipper?

As long as you voted honestly at this point in time, that’s fine.

If people want to vote simply to skew results rather than give an honest opinion, not much that can be done about it.

It's most likely a ball lock.
When a ball is diverted into the trunk, it will be held until the player starts X Multiball and then it gets kicked out.

Quoted from yancy:

I dont think they need to license any of the movies listed. I believe the reason those were chosen is because they all public domain films. Thus no royalties needed for movie clips or imagery.

This will be sweet for my TMNT Technodrome LE. Lol

#2264 4 years ago
Quoted from PanzerFreak:

I was considering ordering an LE but then realized this game is $200 more then my Pirates LE which has substantially more in it. Just can't justify the price Stern is asking for the LE. However, a premium may be in my future once I see more gameplay video and ultimately play it.

Well if you care about LE games I don't the Stern LE is a run of 400 JJP LE 5000 for $200 getting a truly limited run if that's what you like is not so bad

Polls like this don't reflect reality for a host of reasons, but there's two obvious ones. First are that people that don't have issues with products typically ignore such polls. I only voted in this because I saw your post, but normally I don't bother as I haven't had any issues with Stern games. Second, many that vote would have never bought the game to begin with. It's like when people often say "wish you were closer" in for sale threads, when the reality is even if it was closer most wouldn't actually spend any money.

Most people in this thread have no interest in actually buying the game no matter what it looked like. There just here to throw out the negativeness just to feel like they accomplished something.

Calling a $7300 premium pinball "cheap" seems absurd. But yeah, I want the pins to stop skyrocketing in value when history has shown there have been repeated issues with the playfield, and cost cutting moves by Stern despite prices that continue to go through the roof. I can remember buying TSPP for $3k two different times from the original owner. He didn't feel a need to double his asking price like people are doing now. I blame JJP and Stern...its simple greed. I've got 8 nice Premium and LE pins and again I'm blessed with the income to probably 2 or 3 more by years end but I think I'm just going to take a stand and not buy NIB anymore. Not the way things are right now. Maybe 1 person can't make a difference, but if enough of us say "enough is enough" things would change. Gotta hit them where it hurts...

It's not cheap, is my point. But what would people like to remove to make it cheap? You can't have "all the stuff" and cheap.

The point is it does not cost that much to make this game. I understand profit i'm all about that. But, these prices are over kill. Even with JJP before someone throws him in this mix.

Do you think pinball parts have suddenly doubled in cost over the last 5 years? They haven’t. And this and most any new Stern doesn’t have anymore “stuff” than titles released 10+ years ago (TSPP, WH20, TZ, lots of examples) so it’s not like Stern is suddenly adding new features they didn’t before and cost of LED lights has gone down not up...I don’t think plastic ramps are expensive upgrades compared to metal ones either...

#2279 4 years ago

Anyone know if EHOH or E3...(or whatever you want to call it) will be at the Houston arcade and pinball expo?

#2280 4 years ago
Quoted from Rarehero:

Their salesmen talking points get into the hobbyist lingo, though. Watching Zach and Greg shit all over Addams Family while blowing their load for every unfinished mediocre new game was all I needed to see to know that nothing they say is relevant to reality....but because of people like them, you now you have people saying stuff like "B/W games are too shallow for a home game" when we all know that the REASON "home games" are even a thing is because B/W games are so F'ing good that they've stood the test of time & so fun and replayable that people want these clunky coin-op machines in their house!

Ouch.

Do you think a pair of Jordan’s cost $200 or a pair of Diesel jeans cost $300?
No one has to buy any of these things. You can buy a warm two liter of soda at a grocery store for $1.25 or a cool 20 oz bottle at a Theme park for $5. Coffees can cost $8.
Buy what you can afford, companies will go out of business when people don’t buy. Stern seems to be doing well and the have a home pin for guys who want a $4k pin.
Let the downvotes begin all you socialists!

Contrary to popular belief, they arent being assembled by monkeys. Operating expenses go up every year. Insurance, overhead, labor costs, etc. I know because as a business owner I have to raise my rates each year just to maintain the status quo. Customers wonder why it costs x this year when it was y last year and I'm doing the same job. I wish I didnt have to raise rates, but if I dont I'm out of business.

Why ouch? Your job is to sell games. Good for you. Whenever Gary Stern was asked what his favorite game was, he answered with whichever one was the newest on the line. Does anyone expect Gary to be an objective game reviewer? Of course not. Same with you. Jack Danger’s newest video about GB referred to the game as “beloved” He’s a Stern employee. You’re a Stern distributor. You’ll never be honest about games from a player or buyers perspective. And that’s fine...as long as everyone understands it is what it is.

#2284 4 years ago

Exactly, everyone wants a living wage, $15 minimum wage. How about the people that were making $17 before , now they want $25. Tarrifs all these things people want make things cost more.

And to compound that, you can add the increased cost in licensing fees, development team fees (because we obviously want something new and different with each new release), and material costs which have all increased over time.

Movie copyright in the US lasts for 95 years, which easily covers all 26 films in EHOH. It's possible some of them have lapsed due to non-renewal, but I definitely wouldn't assume they're all free.

Quoted from cscmtp:

No, but the cost of development might've. You know those video screens everyone demanded? It takes a team to do graphics now.

Movies go Public Domain for a number of reasons, including most famously Night of the Living Dead which has been PD since it was released in 1968.

It's no surprise most of these movies were also featured on MST3K. They didn't have to pay anybody to use them as they are mostly (or all?) public domain.

Agree 100% - people comparing Stern games and how much they cost to make 10 years ago to what they charge now isn't exactly fair. No question Stern is asking for more bc dummies in this hobby just buy whatever they offer at 15k BUT their costs do go up too.

yancy - if you think this game has "all the stuff" maybe I'm watching a video for a different game. Stern is the master of including cheap "add ons" hoping it comes across as loaded. Man if I'm Stern I'm loving people like you.

Why ouch? This fairly measured response is a lot different from the original "nothing they say is relevant to reality" post.

And saying that Zach will "never be honest" about Stern games from the perspective of a player is ascribing too much malice IMO. It's more about objectivity than honesty.

Of course it's not malice...but it's similar to what's going on in all hobbies & pop culture interests - fans of a thing like to watch "influencers" in Youtube & Twitch, because they present themselves as "hey, we're just regular people just like you!" when the reality is that they're sales people specifically trying to come off as regular people. I feel like many people don't quite get that, and consider "influencers" to be some kind of hobby experts.

I will say in ZMeny's defense that they probably said this kind of thing before he was a dealer. I'm inclined to believe it might be more exaggerated now, but for me it was always a sort of newer owner vs older owner thing; like Stern era vs before.

It has all the stuff it has, was my point. If you want all that stuff, pay for it. If you want it cheaper, which stuff would you like to remove? Personally I would like to go back to DMD and subtract the cost of custom hi-res animation from every game. But it is what it is.

Wasn't trying to imply the game has EVERYthing, because there's no such thing. It's never enough for the peanut gallery.

Really? That just is a horrible idea.

Do you watch your black and white TV cause those newfangled color ones and shows are just not the same.

Not saying that I like the price but it would be a better pill to swallow if Stern wold give something little like extended side rail armor like they have done on previous premium like ST premium color plated even.
