I had an Elektra and sold it because the upper playfield had a ton of wear down to the wood and someone had did an ugly paint job on it. I miss it soooo much and little did I know they never come up for sale so now I can't get another one.

Quoted from Hellfire:

They are for sale all the time on Ebay not the prices i love but they are available on there regularly.

I have seen them there but I don't want to pay $2500 for a $900 game.

#68 10 years ago

Ah damn, maybe I should have kept mine. It had a perfect polished set of plastics on it and A perfect back glass I paid $900 earlier this year so that's what I thought they were going for. I sold it for $1100

Ok I know this is a LONG LONG LONG shot but is anyone parting out an Elektra and willing to sell me their backglass? I am buying an Elektra but it does not have the backglass. Thanks in advance for your help

I'm replacing the plastic playfield on my Elektra with a brand new CPR one. I have stripped the playfield and unscrewed it from the rest of the machine. Here is a pic of the playfield with the dirty scratched plastic still attached:

here is the new CPR playfield:

When I pulled the old plastic playfield up some of the main playfields paint went with it. So here is the main playfield all cleaned up and touched up ready for a coat of clear, then the CPR playfield:

I will post pics after the clear coat has dried and I put the CRP playfield on.

Quoted from RikiTiki:

question for the Elektra players/experts. I have some questions regarding the upper level drop target section. Ive seen some Elektras with and some without the rubber in front of the ball. which is preferred? and has anyone tried a "powerball" in the area? any advantage or disadvantage of trying this?

I've never seen that area with a rubber on it. Weird.

Quoted from metalkatt:

Yes, the way it's pictures is the"correct" way it should be. I've seen some without it, and, at first, that's how I had mine set up until I purchased the flyer and saw the band in front of the posts.

Cool. Thanks for posting that pic. I will put a rubber around mine. What size rubber do you use there?

#205 8 years ago
Quoted from metalkatt:

It's a 4" band. If you buy the kit, it's the largest one.

Thanks man!

Installed a plastic protector at the top of the playfield today. Was worried every time I lifted the playfeild.

Where did you buy that? I would like to pick one up. Thanks.

Quoted from erak:

Im in the Club.
Cleaned it all up. No upper playfield wear. No broken plastics. Alternate backglass.
Removed the plexi to get the dirt out from under it. Buffed it up, now it looks new.
I dont think this Elektra got much play.
The small mark between the hands on the lower playfield is actually a skuff on a mylar square that is there. I would like to remove and replace the piece of mylar. But I dont want to lift any of the art.
Going to try msgic eraser and alcohol. Then buff if with novis. If that works, i will leave it alone.

Looks fantastic! I put a new CPR plastic PLAYFIELD on mine, best thing I did. Nice translite. I asked you this in another thread but you never answered me. Did you pick the translite up from Tim in Aurora? I know he had one laying around.

Quoted from erak:

Thanks.
The original plexi was really good on it. After buffing it with novis 2 it looked brand new. The pic of it off is before i started cleaning it.
To answer your question. No, the backglass is original to the machine.
Not sure if you meant backglass. Because this is an actual printed glass not a translite type backglass.
Was the one you are talking about a reproduction translite?

Oops, I did mean backglass. The one Tim has/had was weird. It didn't look printed directly on the glass like yours, it looked like a piece of thin cardboard with the alternate Backglass printed on it and it was stuck to the glass. So unless you took it off, it looked like it was printed to the glass. I thought maybe all the alternate translites were like that since there is only a small handful in existence. Your Elektra might be the only one I've seen that is nicer then mine (a perfect upper playfield on Elektra is like finding a stack of gold bars), great job on the clean up! Elektra is my favourite game. I owned it before and had to buy it back because I missed it so much.

On a different note since it seems you are very knowledgeable. The five blue inserts on the left side of the game have an issue on my Elektra. One insert never lights, but it is not a bulb or socket, because when I press the left flipper to make the three lit inserts move up one space the unlit insert moves with it. So all the light sockets work but one of the inserts doesn't light and the unlit insert moves with the other inserts when you hit the left flipper button. Do you know what that could be?? Thanks in advance.

Hey long-time Elektra owner here. Sold my first one missed it so much by the second one. Unfortunately my elektras been down for close to a year now and I just haven't had time to try and fix it. I have time now but I'm terrible at diagnosing machines this old. The initial problem was all of the flippers on the left side of the machine just stopped working. As I was trying to diagnose why I open the back box and was unplugging and plugging back in connectors while the machine was on. I know silly silly mistake. One of the connectors kind of sparked as I pulled it out and pushed it back in and ever since then the machine turns on and the lights come on but nothing happens, no displays and the machine doesn't start up. Does anyone know what the problem could be? What other info do you guys need to help me diagnose this problem?
