Did you do test mode to see if you have any lighting?

The things in the pic are triacs. One of them switches the playfield GI on and off, the other does the same for the mini-playfield GI.

Is the backbox GI (behind the backglass) working? Let us know. If yes, then the problem is somewhere in the circuit that drives the main playfield GI triac. If not, check the GI fuse on the rectifier board.

Will assume the GI fuse is good since you said the coin door lights work. The circuit that drives the GI triac is an auxiliary driver, located under the playfield.
See the circled item in the attached pic. When you press the self-test button once for lamp test, the feature lights will flash off and on. Does the playfield GI flash also? If not, look for a 555 bulb in a socket, mounted near this driver board, under the playfield. It's easy to spot because it's not in a place where it lights anything on the playfield. Check that bulb, it should be flashing in lamp test. If not, check the bulb and the socket connection. The bulb is needed to allow the Aux. driver board to turn the triac on, which in turn lights the playfield GI.

Hi Roy
First of all: thank you very much for taking the time to help me.
Backbox GI has been working all the time, and now the GI on the playfield is also miraculously working, though the right triac gets very hot after one minute turned on. This triac on my Friend Brians Elektra doesn’t get nearly as hot - should I replace the triac/both of them? If yes: could you tell me exactly what to buy/where to buy them? The auxiliary driver is working fine.
Another new problem has occured though: I’ve got 43 volts on TP5-powerboard, and the fuse is good, but no voltage on PF solenoids. None of them activate in test, besides test 10: Coindoor lockout donor and test 11: K1 relay. The games goes into attractmode, into play, flippers are working but The solenoids are failing. Could you help me out?

There is a playfield solenoid fuse under the playfield, near the right lower flipper. Check that fuse.

As for the triac getting hot, is the GI dim? If not, the triac is probably good. I recall that thermal grease is supposed to be applied to the area where the triac mounts to the power supply plate, to aid in heat transfer. I would unscrew the triacs from the mounting plate and apply some fresh thermal grease around the mounting holes, then re-install them.

You mentioned that the GI is now "miraculously working". Well as you know, nothing ever fixes itself. You probably have a bad connection somewhere. I would check for cracks in the solder joints on the header pins of the Aux. board, and reflow with fresh solder. Also check that the 555 bulb (mentioned earlier) has a good connection in the socket. Inspect the solder connections on the triac too.

If the playfield GI fails again, look at the 555 bulb. If it is on, the problem is in the Aux. board, triac connections, or triac. If it is off, first make sure the bulb is good, then check the connections on J2 of the main lamp driver board. Pin 1 of J2 is the connection to the 555 bulb.

Thank you very much Roy. You have been very helpfull. I missed the fuse underneath the playfield - the solenoids are up running again. I tried replacing the lost grease underneath The triac - the right one still gets very hot, but maybe a little less than before??? I left it running for a couple og hours and it went on working. I will try resolder/checking bulbs next week when it is pinball-time again, but for now it is playing, thank you. I have one remaining problem though: The speech seem to be missing. The feature-sound/background-sound is there but speech is absent. Could it be the potentiometer on the soundboard? The left one is very noisy when turned. I also have some Stern games (Flight 2K, Catacomb and Lightning) that also lacks speech - maybe there is a common problem here?

Yes it could be the potentiometer. You should repost this question under a new topic. You'll get more responses from sound board experts that way.
