Are there any companies or DIY products to re-plate plastic pieces. I have a Secret Service with the 'gold' plated plastic speaker bezel that cleans up well enough, but I was wanting to get it perfect.

Thanks!

I found companies that do vacuum chroming for plastic auto parts when I was restoring my 59 Bonneville. You may want to check these out

I don't think Mike Chestnut does, but couldn't hurt to ask him.

If he doesn't, check out Paul's Chrome: http://www.paulschrome.com/index.php/what-we-do/we-chrome-plastic

I haven't seen any of their plastic chrome work, but their auto chrome jobs that I've seen are amazing.

I think this can be challenging to DIY. You can paint plastic with a high copper content paint to provide a base to electroplate onto though. After that, you can plate the product with other metals that stick to the copper base you just put on. Can get expensive quickly and may not be worth it for one part. You might be better off getting it plated locally if you can find someone to do it.

This company sells kits (and the copper paint) if you want to take a peek. I've never used any of it, but found it when researching DIY electroplating myself. So far I've only worked with copper plating.

Another option might be gold spray paints if you're handy with a rattlecan. Here's someone who did a comparison of different brands of gold colored spray paints; there is quite a variance between the brands!

I've used these guys for small run stuff. Very reasonable pricing and excellent work.

I tried out some of the car products used to "wrap" the vehicle on my diner jukebox. Turned out pretty nice.

That looks good. Can you share the name of the product and where you bought it from? Do you need a heat gun to shrink-wrap it? Do they sell the same product in gold/brass color?
