    Hi Pinsiders,

I'm curious if there are public locations (arcades, museums, bowling alleys, etc.) that specialize in electro-mechanical pinball or arcade games. A couple of major examples would be...

Clay's VFW Pinball Museum near Ann Arbor, MI
Tim's Pinball Hall of Fame in Las Vegas, NV

...but your examples don't have to have hundreds of E.M. games. Let's set the definition of "specializing" in E.M. games as having at least 5 examples and being accessible to the public (not as interested in learning about private collections...just yet).

So, let 'er rip! What have you guys seen out there?

    Thanks for your help,
    Ryan Claytor

The PPM recently launched an exposition last November. Pretty sure it'll be a regular thing. http://pacificpinball.org/events/shoot-moon-pinball-expo

(and of course the PPM itself in Oakland... http://pacificpinball.org/)

Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, OH has an EM arcade (which also has a few early solid states).

    #7 2 years ago

Seattle Pinball Museum is full of wood rails and EM's from the late 60's and early 70's (plus some token DMD's up front).

Village Arcade in St Peters PA. Lots of em pins and games..all quarter play. Love this place!!

Well, we had a bar in Salem, Oregon that had 5 or 6 nice EM's, but it closed recently. Dammit.

Strong Museum in Rochester usually has 3-5 EMs set up

Blackbird pizza in Portland, OR has a couple, Wizard and Old Chicago. IIRC

Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum in Michigan. (MMMM)

I just realized that they only have one EM pinball currently set up though.
    (Wizard!)

31005 Orchard Lake Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48334

    http://marvin3m.com

Still worth a mention if you like OTHER EM games though! It's more of a museum about American amusement devices throughout the last century.

There is a store in Gardner KS (just south of KC) called Game Cycle that has 14 EMs on location, and on free play from what I understand. There are several Game Cycle stores in the KC metro and in Nebraska, but I think only the Gardner store has a bunch of EM pins.

These are all EM's and strong playing games. Many have new backglasses and look great. The owner really takes pride in his lineup. This place also as a couple pool tables and fairly priced drinks...highly recommended.

Ryan, you seriously need to watch Arino from Game Center CX visit the Musee Mecanique. It's one of my favorite episodes. You don't have to watch the whole video but the beginning is where he visits the museum. Game Center CX is really what got me back into the arcade scene with their visits to Japanese arcades.

B's bowling center in mid michigan and Richfield bowl have em's and another nearby location does as well.
the selection rotates and there are of course modern pins amongst them:
There now, and all nicely kept shopped and clean.

    Mars Trek
    Old Chicago
    Hokus Pokus

“Pinball Palace Remember When Retro Arcade”
    3800 Boardwalk
    Wildwood, NJ 08260

About 60 EM pins, gun games, pitch and bats, etc. Equal parts weird and awesome.

I recall there being a pay-by-the hour area with EM pins, but then there were other EM pins in the coin-drop area, so not sure what to make of that. Here's a review:

...with a link to their facebook page. That's the most official URL I could find for them.

The Red Lion Inn is one of the more unusual places on this list because it is a real bar and not a museum/hall of fame or watered down arcade. This is a place where people go to drink and have a good time that just happens to have an incredible lineup of EM pins. It is seedy, but it seems right given the history of the game.

    Penny Arcade, Manitou Springs, CO

    Air Aces Bally, 1975
    Aladdin's Castle Bally, 1976
    Capt. Fantastic Bally, 1976
    Champ Bally, 1974

An absolutely great place. I spent lots of time there about 5 years ago. Multiple rooms of games of all types. Pins, vids, wall-sized horse races, hockeys, baseballs, air hockey, pool, ticket games, etc. Here are a few pics I took: (these are all in only 1 of the rooms)

Their updated list shows a KISS LE, but I can't remember much of anything new when I was last there. I'm pretty certain there was a LOTR, but other than that the pins tended to be quite vintage. Not a single 90s BW, which I find interesting. Other than the pins in the pics I posted, I recall an Indy 500, another Elton John, Game Show, Superman, Mata Hari, Bobby Orr...

Oh, duh. My favorite local pinbar: Blairally in Eugene, OR. https://pinside.com/pinball/community/pinsiders/blairally

Current EMs on the floor: Wild, Wild West. Aztec. However they own a few dozen, including Elton John, Scuba, Space Mission, Spin Wheel, Old Chicago (my favorite), Hayburners II, Target Alpha, Freedom, Wizard!, Space Ship, Centigrade 37, and more. Also a lot of other EM games like a few mid 60's Chicago Coin bowlers, baseballs, old gambling pins, and more.

    Quoted from RyanClaytor:

I added this one to the list.

The URL for this one was identical to Can Can. I did a quick search but all I could find was this gas station without a mention of an E.M. arcade:
    http://www.bobbyandstevesautoworld.com/locations/minneapolis/
    ...so I didn't add B&S's.

    I botched the link.

A lot of the machines (all?) between Bobby and Steve's and Can Can are owned by the same person. And yeah - it's basically your run of the mill full service auto shop / gas station / convenience store / Godfather's Pizza / EM arcade. You'd never expect them to be there.

Wow, neat! Added it to the list. Thanks for the update, Beatnik-Filmstar!

I've been meaning to get to this for a while, but I've tried to organize the big list in the first post. Main categories are country/continent: Right now we have United States, Canada, and Europe...but I'd welcome more! Sub-categories within the United States are individual states, listed in alphabetical order. Then if states have multiple listings, they're organized alphabetically by city name.

Hope this helps. Keep 'em comin' and I'll try to keep up!
