Often lawyers are the only real winners in lawsuits and settled out of court with private terms.
If it plays out to trial everyone will see the results.
Pretty serious charges made , valid or not.

Forensic accounting 101 ~ Its either a lot of bogus claims or some major shuffling.
No matter how you juggle funds there is always a trail and it will either vindicate or help convict.
I see LOTS of hours billed on that mess.

Nepotism or employing friends is not illegal or immoral IF they can perform the job task at a competent & professional level. In the case of letting "other" employees go and bringing friends or family in I would hope those people have a resume or experience in the job role they were placed in.
If not it looks bad and not aid in your defense.
