I get mine, along with other car care products, from Car Care Specialties and have been for over 20 years now.

They run monthly discounts on certain items. I've been using P21S wheel cleaner for my cars for going on 35 years now and I can usually get it cheapest from them.
New owner of an El Dorado, is it normal when I press the flipper, a hummm sound is present? Thank you for your advice

Mine does that. It is probably the solenoid/coil on your coin door.

The hum experienced with the flipper held is normally wear or misalignment between the end of the plunger and the face of the stop.
There are a couple of things you can do.
1. Loosen the stop, hold the flipper in the up position, and push the stop to the end of the plunger, supposedly getting square contact. Then tighten up the stop.
2. A different approach is to just loosen, rotate slightly, and then retighten the stop. This will present the two faces at a slightly different angle. Keep in mind - this could make the condition better or it could make it worse.
3. Optional - remove the stop and file the face flat. Stops tend to develop cupping from the end of the plunger. Filing down the high edges eliminates some of the potential surface contact that could provide the hum. If the cupping wear is extreme replace the stop and possibly the plunger also.

Thanks Mikeo,
Quoted from Mthomasslo:I’m in, owned mine since 1980, just bought a Wade Krause playfield last weekend, an will be putting it in soon.
Pictures please when you're done?
Quoted from Jackaltr:I'm in! Picked this guy up for $300. I managed to snag a Wade cross playfield and have begun a restore on the cabinet.
That cab would terrify me, so I tip my hat. Pics pics and more pics when it comes time please.
Not in the club myself, technically. But in the "Wade Krauss playfield waiting for the right candidate club." Mine took a weird detour (long story) to Ron Kruzman.

For you El Dorado and Wedge Head owners, how often do your machines need repair? Since I got mine up and running, the thing has been 100% reliable, except for a few old light bulbs burning out.
I typically have to make some repairs when I get a new game in. Sometimes the owner has let it sit for a while; other times things gets rattled during transport. But once they are set up, they run without issues. Only on rare occasions do I need to do repairs. A friend has an El Dorado where the switch behind the top drop target bank got stuck closed (no idea how that happened) and eventually caused the drive rack of the 10-point score reel to break off and needed to replace it.
I've owned Abra Ca Dabra for over three years and only repair I've had to make was when a coil stop on the right flipper broke - due to old age and repeated use, I guess. Haven't ever had it happen on any other games. That's it.
El Dorado_Score Reel Drive Rack (resized).jpgChipS, that's great to hear how these EMs are pretty reliable once the problems get sorted out. My El Dorado, Fireball, and Time Zone have all been like that since I got them up and running. I've also found that getting them up and running is super cheap. I can usually get them operating with just cleaning and adjusting things. I usually rebuild the flippers, throw in a new ball, and add new rubber bands, but that stuff is all cheap.
Now that would be cool right there BubbaK.
I have the urge to check under my playfield for an Ed K signature.
Wood board I purchased from Wade. It’s a little different and hope to install it once I get the game.
@electrocute, that’s pretty cool. Do you plan to paint the colors or install it with just the black?
Pretty neat! What sort of price range are his playfields?
Board is finished. It will get shipped out along with Surfer/Surf Champ at a later date.
I’m going to install it like it is, maybe have Ron Kruzman clear coat it. Colors of the plastics and pops should make it look pretty cool. Just have to find the machine……..
With shipping, believe his playfields are now in the $900 range.
@electrocute, think how cool that would look with black silicone rubber bands! Or possibly red?.
Please post a photo once you have the project all together!
I just switched my El Dorado to 3 ball to see how I like it. Does anyone else out there have theirs set to 3 ball? So far it seems like by knocking down the bank of 10 drops at the top, resets both drop target banks. Makes for some quick games. haha
I’m going to Pinfest next month and would like to rejoin the club. Will anyone else be there with an el Dorado to sell?

Shay goodness!
Two El Dorados or something else?

It’s Atlantis and El Dorado.
I'm gonna switch my El Dorado back to 5 ball. With the 3 ball setting, I found myself only caring about the top bank of 10 drop targets and I totally ignored the 5 bank of drops. Plus on 3 ball, some games are over incredibly fast.

It's just a quick game. The code isn't very deep.
Proud of myself that I fixed a minor issue with my El Dorado. It was getting stuck mid game. Ball would drain and get served back up as the same ball number. It would create a never ending game.
Cleaned and adjusted the ball count unit (who would have thought?) and working great again.
Quoted from Mthomasslo:There's no "code" deep or otherwise in an EM. All of the logic is hardwired.
I'm selling one I got a long time ago. Playfield has some delamination toward the top, but I'm including a Wade repro.
I'm an add-a-ball guy, so I have a "Gold Strike" too. To me, five balls and only five balls to play, just to win credits (for me, that doesn't matter), is too restrictive. Add-a-ball games are much more suited to home play. Win lots of extra balls, and push that high score ever higher, for a would-be challenger to beat!
I have to say though, I like that wagon wheel graphic on the center of the playfield much better than that big "WOW" that's on "Gold Strike".
Quoted from jrpinball:I have to say though, I like that wagon wheel graphic on the center of the playfield much better than that big "WOW" that's on "Gold Strike".
I agree with "WOW" i like the wagon wheel much more.

Yes, it is nice!
Game arrived today. Played it about 10 times and have been steadily getting better. Left top flipper coil is noisy and right bottom flipper sometimes flutters. Shooting rod seems too long and a couple ‘when lit’ lights don’t work. Otherwise, very pleased!
5389ADDF-217A-4B27-9B87-93F62F73A311 (resized).jpegGetting closer. I'm trying some Titan colored silicone bands. I'm also going to add some light behind the 5-bank drop target. I put a led strip behind the stand up target also to light that some more. Don't zoom in too much, I'm not a painter. Its a heck of a lot better than it was.
original (resized).jpgplayfield finished (resized).jpgElectrocute thats a great score. I’ve owned my El Dorado for about 6 months and I think I’ve only rolled it two or three times.
Mine went bye-bye yesterday.
I had it a long time, but never did anything with it. Sold it along with a Wade playfield.
I've played Vic Camp's many times at his house.
Being a NY'er, I grew up playing "Gold Strike". I've had five of them, and am now down to my one keeper.

Going to a good home. I can't believe I got both this and a dia jack in a Lexus rx350
